Bought these for an ultra-lightweight backpacking trip in August 2014. Exceeded our expectations! Formerly used liquid iodine from crystals (PolarPure) but the jar, even tho small and not heavy, is much heavier than many strips of these chlorine dioxide tabs.

Instructions are a little confusing as they contradict themselves on one issue -- the instructions state not for cryptosporidium, but also state that standing time for cryptosporidium is 4 hours. ("Destroys viruses and bacteria in 15 min., Giardia in 30 min. and Cryptosporidium in 4 hrs.").

Only once did I sense any odor from the treatment and we suspect we might have caused it by accidentally treating that liter of water two times. No discoloration of water (perhaps our biggest complaint about iodine tx), easy to use, clear instructions (save the one discrepancy), easy-to-use packaging, extremely lightweight, and very compact. What's not to love?
