I'm very surprised at how good these are, not just for the price but I really get a nice finish and feel like there is plenty of pigment.
As a beginner I also like that there are a variety of pre-mixed colors. Something like 16 of these are just one pigment, and others are blends of pigments (the box tells you exactly which ones.) For beginners I think this is excellent, being able to choose almost exactly the color you want removes a very difficult step, and it's complexity you can learn later.
If you are more experienced, the one thing to be aware of is that a lot of these (around one quarter) are simple tints with white pigment added to the pigment from another tube. This isn't bad at all, it just means that many of these tubes are colors you could make yourself by combining paint from the white tube with another. Also the heavily tinted paints behave best at a thick gauche like consistency, as you might expect.
I had looked into a few other brands including a popular Japanese one, but am glad I went with these. In the future I may buy a few more premium brands in the particular colors I like, but this is a great start.
Also be good to yourself and use 100% cotton paper!
