This is a good headlamp except for one EXTREMELY IRRITATING feature: The Power Tap max brightness touch switch. The problem is the switch is so sensitive, just bringing your fingers close to the switch (2mm) will turn both white LEDs to maximum brightness.

What I find is half the time I'm reaching for the main power button, I accidentally turn on Power Tap. And my poor dog. I was using my headlight while I was cleaning his teeth. Must have gotten too close to the switch. Suddenly, Blam! 400 lumens 1 foot away from my dog's face. Poor guy must have been blinded.

I decided to take a drill to my Spot after that to see if I could disable the switch. I suspect the switch is a capacitive switch so disabling would not be easy since there is no circuit to break. Drilling through the black plastic casing revealed what looks like a flex circuit board. I cut away what I could see but it was not enough. The touch switch still worked but I may have reduced the sensitivity a bit.

If Black Diamond had just used a mechanical switch for Power Tap, this would be a great headlamp. But this @#$& touch sensitive switch is just irritating.
