My husband and I both have one of these and really like them. He was using a Petzl but liked how my Black Diamond seemed to operate better and last longer, so he got one also. We use for walking and/or jogging our dog and walking to the mailbox after dark.
The battery life hasn't been as issue so far and lasts for a very long time. But, that said, it only gets used for about half an hour every evening.
The lower/less bright setting works just fine if you are on a road or bike path. We have yet to need the super bright setting.
