Before buying these surge protectors, I would just have my equipment plugged into a UPS straight into the wall. I lost a handful of UPS' after a couple of thunderstrikes. It was so bad that I was losing equipment plugged into the UPS which defeats the whole purpose of the UPS that is meant to protect your equipment. I was getting tired of having to replace equipment, looked up surge protectors and found this version. I bought one for each UPS I have plugged in. It's been over 3 years and these surge protectors are running fine with the UPS plugged into them. Still have a lot of thunderstorms and surges and I have yet to lose any hardware ever since I bought these surge protectors. If you find yourself in a similar scenario, go ahead and buy these and plug your UPS into them, you won't have to worry about losing equipment anymore.
