Inula

Yellow-flowered daisy-like perennials, generally requiring a sunny position and good soil. Good border plants, which can produce the most exquisite hairy buds and intricate flowers. Valuable for wildlife. Some can be spreading rather than clump-forming.

As with all 'daisy-like' flowers, the disc-flowers in the centre of the single flowerhead at the end of each shoot produce nectar and pollen that are attractive to insects. Those of Inula are particularly favoured by bumblebees, honeybees, hoverflies and some butterflies. Increasingly being found outside the confines of gardens and where it has not obviously been planted. However, as the species we supply doesn't seem to set seed in Britain, its 'escape' is not causing concern.
