German police have taken into custody the person suspected of a stabbing rampage on Friday in the western German town of Solingen that killed three and injured eight.

Passengers on the doomed Bayesian superyacht scrambled desperately for the last remaining air pockets as the vessel sank to the seabed, investigators believe. But while five of the victims' bodies were recovered from one cabin, the youngest, 18-year-old Hannah Lynch, was found alone in a bedroom two doors away, it emerged yesterday. Weather maps show a huge cloud of sulpher dioxide (SO2), spat out by the recent volcanic eruptions in Iceland, moving across to completely cover the country by 4am. SO2 is predominantly produced from the combustion of coal or crude oil but volcanoes also produce huge quantities of it when they erupt. The gas is recognisable by its pungent and irritating odour similar to that of rotten eggs. Brendan Cox and his new wife Anna Ryder are expecting their first baby together around Christmas. John Greenwood and his best friend Gary Miller went missing in Whiston, Merseyside, in August 1980 after they went out to play after tea on a sunny summer evening. But just 15 minutes later, a dog walker would come across the boys - brutally beaten and partially buried under a mattress, and called 999. The killer was never brought to justice. John's sister Debbie Turrell, 46, who was only two when he was killed, has fought for justice for her brother and his friend most of her life and she now hopes to shine a light on the case again 44 years after they were found dead, according to Liverpool Echo.

Volodymyr Zelensky, in comments to mark 33 years of its post-Soviet era, mocked Vladimir Putin as the 'sick old man from Red Square'. He confirmed the prisoner swap on social media, saying: 'Another 115 of our defenders have returned home today. These are warriors of the National Guard, the Armed Forces, the Navy and the State Border Guard Service.' The Russian defence ministry said its 115 freed servicemen had been captured during Ukraine's attack in the Kursk region. The swap was the first since Ukraine launched its offensive in the region over the Russian border. Mr Zelensky also hailed a new Ukrainian 'drone missile' that he said would strike hard against Russia. The weapon, Palianytsia, was faster and more powerful than any Kyiv has so far used to strike Putin oil refineries and airfields, he said.'This is our new method of retaliation against the aggressor,' he added.

The Tommy Fury messaging scandal has taken a shock twist as a woman who accused him of sending her flirty DMs has claimed she was 'catfished' by an imposter. Earlier this month, Tommy's fiancée Molly-Mae Hague [inset with Tommy], 25, left fans stunned as she announced her shock split with the boxer, also 25, after five years together - with it since emerging that he allegedly 'cheated' on her.  This week, a woman called Kay Keogh [left] accused Tommy [right] of 'messaging her after spotting her on a night out in Manchester' while engaged to Molly-Mae. However, she's since returned to the platform to confess she was duped by a fake account and says it wasn't Tommy who messaged her at all.

Agam Goldstein-Almog (left) was kidnapped alongside her mother Chen (top right) and her brothers Gal, 11, and Tal, 9, on October 7, while her father Nadav and older sister Yam, 20, were killed when the terrorists stormed their home in the Kibbutz Kfar Aza. The 17-year-old was dragged out of her house and taken to Gaza, where she was forced to wear a hijab and recite Islamic prayers. At one point during her 51-day-long ordeal before she was freed in a prisoner swap in late November, one of the guards vowed that he would find her a husband in Gaza, where she would spend the rest of her life as a 'chained slave-wife'.
