'My usual menu consists either of a takeaway or tapas style 'picky bits' from a packet… or bring your own!'

On why he wanted to take part in the show he added: 'I wanted a challenge to sink my teeth into. I am known by my friends and family for not being able to cook up until this point!

'When it comes to cooking, I'd say that I'm an expert with the air fryer and the microwave, so I wanted to take on Celebrity MasterChef to develop a skill that I could involve my children and family with going forward.'

Meanwhile Edith spoke about the lead up to the show and whilst she has a little more experience in the kitchen she was still 'terrified'.

She said: 'It was terrifying. The anticipation and the wait before it felt like I was in a time warp!

'I was really excited about the prospect of walking into the kitchen for the first time and when we went in, it's all like you see on telly with the MasterChef logo and John and Gregg standing there!

'The excitement as well – it's that mix of nerves and excitement - it was very bizarre!'

Asked what her favourite thing to cook is she added: 'It depends on who I'm cooking for! I love cooking crab linguine and fish is something I really enjoy cooking. A roast dinner is probably my favourite thing to make though.

Geordie Shore's Charlotte Crosby, 34, added that it was 'surreal' walking into the kitchen for the first time as she spoke about the show lead up

'It's so wholesome and hearty. It's really nice to tailor-make all the different accompaniments – and figure out what goes best with different roasts, how many veggies to have, gravy, Yorkshire puds and all of that.'

Charlotte, 34, added that it was 'surreal' walking into the kitchen for the first time as she spoke about the show lead up.

She said: 'Walking into the MasterChef kitchen for the first time was surreal. To see the setup and the real thing, and to be there after watching it for years on TV, was a very big pinch-me moment.

'It didn't feel like I was really there. It felt like I was a tourist visiting for photo opportunities!'

Craig, 53, also spoke about why he wanted to go on the show, saying: 'I've watched MasterChef for 20 years and I love the show, but the thought of going on it has absolutely terrified me, because I love cooking.

'I've always cooked as it's always a bit of an escape for me, so to go on it and come out as a cook is kind of scary. I wanted to go on it and make sure I was good!'

Snoochie added of her reasons: 'I mean it's an absolutely iconic show and I've always watched it!

'I entered so I can try to learn new tips and tricks in the hopes it would get me cheffin' it up in the kitchen more without feeling like I'd poison my mates!'

Fans will see a dazzling line-up of stars from the worlds of screen and stage, sport and arts, all entering the race to lift the 2024 trophy.

Amongst the rest of the star-studded cast battling it out to become champion of the 19th series are model and TV personality Christine McGuinness and Eastenders actress Danielle Harold.

Each celebrity will be rolling up their sleeves as they step into the kitchen, but only one will come out on top in this battle and earn the title of MasterChef Champion 2024, following in the footsteps of winner Wynne Evans last year.

Other celebrities battling it out include reality TV star Chloe Burrows and The Traitors star Diane Carson.

Model and TV personality Emma Thynn, comedian and actor Eshaan Akbar, and Gladiator and Team GB Sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey will also appear on the show.

They will be joined by the likes of Jake Quickenden, comedian Jamie MacDonald, popstar Mutya Buena, and BBC Radio 2 presenter, OJ Borg.

Completing the line-up are actor Rochenda Sandall, actor Tamer Hassan, and Strictly pro Vito Coppola.

The show will kick off with four Heat weeks of three episodes aimed at testing the celebrities' skills in the kitchen.

The challenges then take the cream of the crop towards the sharp end of the competition, as only the most talented cooks continue on through the final stages.

The first Heat episode sees five new celebs each week face their first daunting task - the notorious 'Under The Cloche' challenge - creating a dish from scratch that shows off what they can do.

Next, they will need to deliver a two-course dinner party menu. The successful cooks will then get the chance to step inside the world of a professional restaurant and think-up their own food truck dish.

After Heats, the eight successful celebrities will face up to what semi and final Week have in store for them.

This will include the brand-new pizza round, as well as a task requiring them to stay on track as they help create an opulent dining experience on the British Pullman Train.

Finally, the successful celebrities will face a hotly anticipated chef's table and an impossibly tricky brief of cooking something they don't like to eat.
