Jeff Brazier has revealed he and son Freddie signed up for the latest series of Celebrity Race Across The World in a bid to help the teen find a 'greater self worth'.

The TV presenter, 45, spoke during Wednesday's opening episode where he recalled watching his son 'struggle' in the past.

Jeff shares sons  Freddie, 19, and Bobby, 21, with late Big Brother legend Jade Goody - who died in 2009 at the age of 27 following a battle with cervical cancer

Revealing that his youngest son still lived and despite it being 'cute' Jeff said he would soon need an 'exit plan', as Freddie admitted: 'I still need my Dad'.

Jeff then told the camera during one candid moment: 'I've seen my son struggle, I know what he needs is a greater sense of purpose, self worth and confidence'.

Adding: 'So something like [Celebrity Race Across The World], of course we are going to grab with both hands'.

The teenager - whose brother Bobby stars in EastEnders and last year reached the final of Strictly Come Dancing - admitted that he is not quite sure what his future holds just yet.

He said: 'Right now I’m figuring out what I’m going to do with my life.

'I think that’s quite tough. Who is Freddie Brazier? I don’t know, but I hope the race will help me find who I am'.

Jeff also that he was most looking forward to getting to spend some time with his son as they join a host of other famous faces on the reality travel show.

He said: 'The thing I'm most looking forward to is I feel like I'm going to learn a lot more about my son.

'He isn't at home loads and as a result I don't see loads of him, but the beauty of this trip is that he's with me and he can't shake me off'.

But Jeff also joked that Freddie is 'not the best decision maker' as he recounted to his son on camera that he had gone off to meet a girl instead of packing for their trip.

He said: 'One of those moments was last night when you should have been packing for our trip but instead you travelled to see a girl. Classic Fred.'

The gruelling show sees teams of two race across an area of the world using any means of transportation other than air travel.

Ahead of the first episode Jeff told The Daily Star newspaper's HOTTV column: 'I wanted to take part because the travel element is an absolute privilege, but also to share it with my son and to be able to make those memories.

'He's not a child anymore, he's a young adult. I feel like at some point he's going to move out and I'll lose him. So, I guess I'm just trying to squeeze every last bit out of him that I can.'

Meanwhile Freddie said: It'll be nice to spend that time with Dad, just me and my dad.

'Dad's got a busy life, he works a lot and there aren't loads of times where we've done stuff just the two of us.

'But when we do I'm really lucky whether it's going to the cinema, going to the driving range, it's all good.

Last year Bobby won praise for his emotional dance tribute to his late mother Jade on the strictly dance floor, as Jeff and Bobby watched tearfully from the audience.

Bobby said of his mother's death before his performance: 'It changed my life completely, I'd love to spend a day with her just to see where I get my smile from.'
