    Daniel ARISTI GAZTELUMENDI presented this Thursday, December 14, 2023, his letters of credence to the President of the Transition, Head of State of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, in his capacity as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the European Union to Burkina Faso.

Daniel ARISTI GAZTELUMENDI presented this Thursday, December 14, 2023, his letters of credence to the President of the Transition, Head of State of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, in his capacity as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the European Union to Burkina Faso.

Daniel ARISTI GAZTELUMENDI was born in San Sebastian, Spain, in 1971. He studied Economics and Business Administration in Spain and France, and International Humanitarian Assistance in Spain and Sweden.

Daniel worked for the Spanish government (in Indonesia) and for the UN (in Bolivia) before joining the European Union. With the EU he has served in Bosnia i Herzegovina, Lesotho, Botswana and in Geneva (as part of the EU Delegation to the United Nations Office at Geneva, UNOG).

In Brussels, Daniel worked as a planner and political advisor for Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions, deployed notably in DRC and Sudan, and most recently as Deputy Head of Division for the Levant (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria) at the Middle East and North Africa Directorate of the EEAS.

Daniel is married to Reshma and they have two children, Ria and Krish.
