Which commits could flip before signing day

Robert Beal's final decision is two weeks away. Miller Safrit/ESPN

National signing day for the Class of 2017 is less than two weeks away. While the vast majority of prospects are locked into their commitments at this point, there still is some intrigue with two official visit weekends remaining before the fax machines get busy once again.

Here's our flips to watch:

Robert Beal | DE, 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, Suwanee, Georgia/Peachtree Ridge, ESPN 300 No. 15

Prediction: Georgia

The Georgia commit is scheduled to visit South Carolina this weekend but will not be making a trip the weekend of Jan. 27-29. Beal's decision to back out of an original commitment to Notre Dame to stay closer to home is back in play. His final decision is two weeks away, and the Bulldogs have a lot of momentum in state.

Stephen Carr | RB, 6-0, 203 pounds, Fontana, California/Summit, ESPN 300 No. 30

Prediction: USC

The USC verbal made an official visit to Oregon last weekend in what was deemed as a potential home run for the Ducks. The issue for the competition is that Carr will make the short trip west from his home in Fontana, California, to USC this weekend for an official visit with the Trojans, who are still considered the favorite. Hard to pick against the USC momentum in state, at this point.

Jamyest Williams | CB, 5-9, 173 pounds, Loganville, Georgia/Grayson, ESPN 300 No. 39

Prediction: South Carolina

South Carolina has to survive an official visit this weekend to Georgia to hang onto to the Under Armour All-America Game standout. While the Gamecocks will very likely get Williams on campus Jan. 27, Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart continues to do his very best to keep the best Peach State prospects home -- and that is what South Carolina coach Will Muschamp and staff are up against with two weeks until pen goes to paper.

C.J. Thorpe | OG, 6-4, 290 pounds, Pittsburgh/Central Catholic, ESPN 300 No. 76

Prediction: Penn State

The Penn State commitment made some news during Under Armour All-America Game week when he stated that UCLA was in play, due to his father's relationship with Bruins defensive coordinator Tom Bradley. With that said, the longtime Nittany Lions verbal will be on campus in State College this weekend, and Penn State is feeling confident.

Nathan Proctor Jr. | OLB, 6-3, 220 pounds, Indian Head, Maryland/Lackey, ESPN 300 No. 86

Prediction: Virginia Tech

Proctor committed to Virginia Tech during the Under Armour All-America Game but said he still planned to make official visits to Pittsburgh and Penn State. The visit to Pittsburgh happened last weekend, with the entire Virginia Tech staff following up with an in-home visit on Monday night. This one still looks good for the Hokies with two weeks to go, and questions remain as to whether the Penn State visit will happen.

Maleik Gray | OLB, 6-2, 187 pounds, La Vergne (Tennessee) High, ESPN 300 No. 90

Prediction: Tennessee

The Volunteers commit made an official visit to Knoxville last weekend, and the returns were very good for coach Butch Jones and staff. Tennessee followed up with an in-home visit on Monday as it looks to get the Under Armour All-America Game linebacker to skip a scheduled visit to Florida State this weekend. The Volunteers simply can't lose Gray in this class from a perception standpoint, so the pressure is on with two weeks to go.

Kai-Leon Herbert | OG, 6-5, 282 pounds, Plantation, Florida/American Heritage, ESPN 300 No. 99

Prediction: Florida

Herbert remains committed to Michigan, but all eyes are on the state of Florida the next two weekends, with official visits scheduled to Miami and Florida, following last weekend's trip to Auburn. The Tigers opened the athletic offensive tackle's eyes, but the Gators are the pick headed into the final pair of visits, as is the case with teammate and friend Tedarrell Slaton, who visits Gainesville this weekend.

Jacob Phillips | ILB, 6-4, 228 pounds, Nashville, Tennessee/East Literature Magnet, ESPN 300 No. 141

Prediction: LSU

Oklahoma has a battle on its hands with LSU, with the hard-hitting linebacker scheduled to make an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge this weekend. That is bad news for the Sooners, because Phillips has already used all his official visits but still plans to make his way to LSU for a visit with family members.

Elijah Blades | CB, 6-2, 170 pounds, Pasadena, California/John Muir, ESPN 300 No. 265

Prediction: Nebraska

Florida has had Blades in the fold since June 2016, but an official visit this weekend to Nebraska is cause for pause. Not only do the Cornhuskers not have a defensive back verbal in the class, but Nebraska has quite a bit of momentum in California with ESPN 300 commits Tyjon Lindsey and Tristan Gebbia, along with four-star receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr. Blades, who made an official to Gainesville last weekend, also has USC working to flip the lengthy cornerback. What does Florida have going for it? Plenty of early playing time possible at cornerback.

Jhavonte Dean | CB, 6-2, 180 pounds, Homestead, Florida/Blinn Junior College, ESPN JC 50 No. 7

Prediction: Miami

Alabama is going to have to withstand the hometown appeal of Miami to ink the instant-impact cornerback. Dean was on campus in Coral Gables last weekend for an official visit, and that appears to be the last visit he will make before making a final decision. The former South Dade High standout is trending for the Hurricanes.
