Prince Harry and Meghan Markle saw their chief of staff leave team Sussex just before their visit to Colombia today and according to sources, there is a reason for it.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's chief of staff, Josh Kettler, quit just three months into his new job for one particular reason, according to insiders.

Mr Kettler, a seasoned public relations expert, made headlines earlier this week as he shockingly quit his post after only a quarter of the year working for the couple.

But sources have claimed that he was hired on a trial basis to "guide Harry through the next phase" and the decision to part ways was "mutual", with both sides agreeing it was not the "correct fit".

Mr Kettler, who was previously chief of staff at communication platform Cognixion, started working with the Sussexes just before their trip to Nigeria back in May.

He travelled to London with the duke the same month to attend the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Invictus Games at St Paul's Cathedral.

His departure comes as Harry and Meghan prepare for their working trip to Colombia later today.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to tour the South American nation at the invitation of the country's vice president Francia Marquez.

On Thursday and Friday, Harry and Meghan will participate in several events in the capital, Bogotá, before leaving for Cartagena and Cali, in the Caribbean and in the Colombian Pacific, where they are expected to be during the weekend.

Their tour will kickstart with a press conference by Márquez, Colombia’s first Black vice president, in which she is expected to offer more details on the purpose of Harry and Meghan’s visit.

The office of the Colombian vice president did not clarify whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will make statements.

Harry and Meghan will also be visiting a school in Bogotá where they will "interact directly with students who are exploring the digital landscape and its effects on society," the statement added.

They will also attend a forum on how to promote safe digital environments organised by Colombia's vice presidency in partnership with Harry and Meghan's Archewell Foundation, a nonprofit organisation.
