Cade York was released by the Washington Commanders Monday according to the team.
Fantasy Impact
York failed to convert either of his attempts in Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers and will now become a free agent. The Commanders will likely meet with free agent kicking options and add one prior to their Week 2 contest.
Cade York went 2-of-2 on his extra point attempts but went 0-of-2 on his field goal attempts in Washington's 37-20 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
The Commanders traded a late-round pick to get York earlier this offseason, but he had a bad game in Week 1. He missed both of his attempted field goals and ended the day with just two points, which didn't do the team any favors in their 17-point loss to the Buccaneers. He isn't worth streaming for fantasy purposes for the time being.
The Cleveland Browns are trading kicker Cade York to the Washington Commanders for a conditional seventh round pick.
Fantasy Impact
York was selected out of LSU by the Browns in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He made 24 out of 32 field goals his rookie season before the team brought in Dustin Hopkins in 2023 to take over kicking duties. The Commanders have been dealing with kicker uncertainties since the release of Brandon McManus in June, as they trade for a leg here to hopefully fill their void at the position.
New York Giants kicker Cade York is expected to kick for the team in Week 16 off of the practice squad.
Fantasy Impact
With starting kicker Randy Bullock injured in Week 15 — who ironically was playing in place of the injured Graham Gano — the Giants are set to have their fourth player of the season take a field-goal attempt for the team (their punter Jamie Gillan played spot kicker due to injury and nailed a 40-yarder). York spent his career with the Browns before being cut and now gets his first opportunity on a new team. He's converted 24 of 32 field goals and 35 of 37 extra-point attempts in his career.
The New York Giants signed K Cade York to the active roster.
Fantasy Impact
It will be York on the active roster or Randy Bullock on the practice squad starting at kicker on Sunday with Graham Gano set to undergo surgery on his knee.
