“Essere uomo ha i suoi vantaggi. Fai poco o niente. Danno ordini, bevono e puliscono i fucili. O li usano.
Elvira Dones, Sworn Virgin

Elvira Dones, Sworn Virgin

“Era l’unica ragazza del villaggio iscrita all’università.
Elvira Dones, Sworn Virgin

“There are some things in this world you rely on, like a sure bet. And when they let you down, shifting from where you've carefully placed them, it shakes your faith, right where you stand.”
Sarah Dessen, Someone Like You

“Am I a good person? Deep down, do I even really want to be a good person, or do I only want to seem like a good person so that people (including myself) will approve of me? Is there a difference? How do I ever actually know whether I'm bullshitting myself, morally speaking?”
David Foster Wallace, Consider the Lobster and Other Essays

“He tried to keep on the right side of power, tried to be loyal to so many things that he himself couldn't tell which one of his selves was the authentic, if any.”
Kiran Desai, The Inheritance of Loss

“He looks like the sort of man who can't afford to leave, and doesn't want to stay, and so he is doing both at once.”
Colum McCann, Zoli

“you're never more alive than when you're almost dead.”
Tim O'Brien, The Things They Carried
