TY Courts!

I looooove Nell so it's hard to pick a favorite moment. Between Nell and Jackson, I really like the *spoiler* first scene by the lake because it's when Nell realizes how much power she has in their relationship and the first time she feels truly in control between them (I love that).

I also really like a conversation she has later with Lia where she asserts that she should be allowed to go after what she wants, without judgement from her family or friends. There's a lot of complicated dynamics in exploring what it means to be a girl there, I think.(less)

“Everything is wooden and beautiful and glossy and perfect and I am just me. Tall and abrasive and too much. Too much ambition, too much competitiveness, too much girl, too much everything.”
Laurie Devore, Winner Take All

“Like, I'd always heard about people completing each other, but you and me, we were more like a match and a stick of dynamite.”

“because nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff. Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can’t-control-yourself love it. Hank, when people call people nerds, mostly what they’re saying is ‘you like stuff.’ Which is just not a good insult at all. Like, ‘you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness’.”
