BRONZE GAYLE is a 38-year old software test analyst and poet originally from San Antonio, Texas. About five years ago, she self-published an anthology of poems entitled "The Nothing" under her ex-married name, Brianna Woodhead. She lived and worked in South Yorkshire, England for five years, but due to unavoidable circumstances (divorce) and a strange twist of fate, she now resides in New Zealand (on sabbatical of sorts) with her devoted partner, David G. Ward (a.k.a. Kyretzn) and she's very happy. She has found a center and peace in her life at last. She may perhaps return to the States, the East Coast, some day, but with the devastation of Covid-19, her future residence remains in a state of flux. Along with the concept of multiple univer ...more

Hmmm, that's a good question. A mystery is defined as anything that is kept secret or remains unexplained or unknown. One of my greatest secrets is my ongoing struggle with anorexia for the past 28 years. It both sucks the life out of me (not unlike the species in my books called the Sorne) and gives me a profound sense of balance when I most need it, not unlike a barre and beam to a dancer. Everything may be falling apart in my life, but my obsession for restriction has kept me tethered. It's ironic, really. It should be the opposite, but somehow it isn't. However, there is a dark and light to an eating disorder. The dark can be very destructive and must be respected. That's when I have to battle my e.d. for control and push it down enough for me to survive. It's a very delicate balance. It's like a chronic disease that one must learn to coexist with. I've struggled with it so long, I don't recall what it was like to be "normal". And yet, I wonder and sometimes yearn to find something as close to "normal" as possible. I really don't know if I would make that a plot for a book (might be too close to home for me to be comfortable writing about), but in some ways, it has surfaced as elements of my plots, just not outright as an eating disorder (i.e. the telepathic disease called the Flay, the Sorne's emotional vampirism, etc).(less)

Sometimes as I'm mulling through ideas in my head during a jog, I'll visualize events from wherever I am in my book, playing out in my head and when I get to the computer, I'm simply taking dictation. Most of my book is already written, it's just in my head and takes time to get it out on the page. :)(less)

Questions from my readers, answered :)

Recently, one of my readers asked me a couple questions about my writing process.  I thought I'd post my answers to those questions here in my journal for posterity.  It made me look back and reflect on how much of myself I put into my words.  To say my writing is cathartic just barely touches the surface.

Q: Did you have all three books planned out before you started writing?  Have your characters

“I'm not asking Kyretzn, I'm asking you! We followed you here across two universes! I left my family, my home, pizza, for you! And for what?! So you could turn tail and run the moment we run into trouble?”
Bronze Gayle, Teleria

“Ah yes, it’s best to assume the worst. She’s more than likely dead and you’re all alone in the universe. This way your heart is ready for what your head may not be ready for yet.”
Bronze Gayle, Teleria

“Yeah, I don’t think I hit you hard enough. You’re still just as stupid as ever. You’re worse than a lovesick teenager. Even I know better than to fall for someone who’s already taken, dude. You need to let her go. Move on!”
Bronze Gayle, Teleria

“We have created our own normal, my love. I don't think it would work the same for anyone else. The physical boundaries between us no longer exist.”
Bronze Gayle, Teleria

“A true love works both ways. Both giving of each other, both opened and willing to make it work. It is not one-sided. You will have to bend. To change. Indeed, the only constant in life is change. If you do not wish to change, you do not wish to live.”
Bronze Gayle, Teleria

“Oh! A son, you have? Well, that’s a different kettle of fish entirely! Sons never know their own minds, always thinking they know better than everyone else and dashing off to make rash decisions.”
Bronze Gayle, Teleria

“I won’t leave you. You’re a part of me, you know that. If you’re hurting, I am hurting.”
Bronze Gayle, Teleria
