The answer is, I hope to have a new book out by 2017, and it will be in a similar vein as Descent, in that it will be a story about a number of characters brought together--as opposed to torn apart--by random acts of violence & one old, unsolved murder. Thank you for helping to spread the word about Descent--that makes all the difference in the life of a book!!!(less)

As to your big little question, "How?"...all I can say for my own technique & process is that I try to give every moment & every encounter all the imaginative & observational attention I can muster...& then I revise like crazy.

Cheers & happy reading! (less)

Distant Sons by Tim Johnston
"Johnston writes the perfect literary thriller, crime drama. Just enough plot, just enough pacing to keep the pages turning but his prose, good lord, the man can flat write, and I didn't want this one to end. Third book in and he keeps getting better " Read more of this review »

“Long after everyone else has given up and gone home and gotten on with their lives, he would keep on believing because, without evidence, you could never kill his belief.”
Tim Johnston, Descent

“Did the mind break down or did it simply correct? Vectoring away from pain?”
Tim Johnston, Descent

“Here is a hilarious, surprising, tender, always genuine tale of American youth in the crosshairs of the new century--a battle of growing pains culminating in a bloody headlock with nature, family, machismo, activism, and love. CB Murphy has written a terrific and timely novel which speeds by and ends, like youth itself, far too quickly.”
