As a security contractor, government civilian and military officer, Myke Cole’s career has run the gamut from Counterterrorism to Cyber Warfare to Federal Law Enforcement. He’s done three tours in Iraq and was recalled to serve during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. After hunting terrorists and criminals in real life, he kept up the job on TV, first tracking fugitives on CBS’ 2017 show Hunted, and UFOs on Discovery Channel’s 2019 show Contact.

All that conflict can wear a guy out. Thank goodness for fantasy novels, comic books, late night games of Dungeons and Dragons and lots of angst fueled writing.

Look, I certainly sympathize with the difficulty and anxiety of tackling an artistic enterprise. I know what it feels like to be stuck. But, you're an adult. Fix your shit.(less)

I'd rather not comment than risk alienating a reader or coloring their view of my work. My goal is to write great stories that are unencumbered by the reader's view of me personally.

On the other hand, I have a strong sense of justice and try to stand up for what I believe in, even when doing so is difficult or uncomfortable. There have been some issues where I have taken public stands and it has no doubt cost me readers. I'd be lying if I said I was fine with that. The thought of losing even one reader due to a personal disagreement really rattles me.

Anyone who reads my work can't fail to notice that my positions often diverge from the prevailing military culture, and more importantly, from the prevailing culture of those who admire the military and either have never served, or have served in the past. To the extent this cognitive dissonance causes me to lose their respect or attention, I am tremendously troubled, but I do feel like I've accomplished what I set out to do artistically.

Hope that wasn't too careful an answer :) (less)

“That love is worth it. It is worth any hardship, it is worth illness. It is worth injury. It is worth isolation. It is even worth death. For life without love is only a shadow of life.”

“Fear isn’t the mind killer. It is fathoms deep and miles wide, more intricate than the pattern on a fine Persian rug. I will not “master my fear.” I am a thinking man who knows it’s not a thing that could ever be mastered. I will instead seek to understand it, to embrace it, to know how it lifts me up and how it holds me back.”
Myke Cole

“...while your thoughts are your own, the words you let pass your lips belong to the world, and the world will not always take the meaning you intended.”

Michael Hey Myke,

Thanks for the add. Love the books. Just finished Fortress Frontier the other day and I have to say you completely outdid yourself. Amazing from start to finish. Keep up the great work!

Zachary Caldwell When I heard about control point, I thought "how could I possibly pass this up?" and thank god I didn't, after finishing it I immediately recommended it to everyone I know, awesome book Myke, can't wait for Fortress Frontier, which I must say has some pretty awesome cover art.
