EJ Fisch is a long-time action junkie and fan of the science fiction genre. She’ll readily admit that she has a vivid imagination, which can be both a blessing and a curse. She has been writing as a hobby since junior high and began publishing in the spring of 2014. They say write what you like to read, so her Ziva Payvan series combines her two favorite genres—space opera and spy thriller—and has been lauded for its grit, compelling character development, and many twists and turns.

When she’s not busy writing or working her day job as a data analyst in the medical field, she enjoys listening to music, working on concept art, reading, gaming, and spending time with her animals. She currently resides in southern Oregon.

Other names were inspired by different sources. Ziva actually came from Ziva David on NCIS - the character was introduced to the show right around the time I was starting to develop my Ziva (back when she was a little baby filler character!). Zinni was inspired by one of my cats. Any time I hear of a person or a street or a town with a somewhat odd name or, I write it down. A lot of my other character/location names are just words I made up. For example, Aroska was one of the names that randomly came to me one day - it was originally supposed to be kind of a unisex name, but in the end I thought it would be better for a guy. In cases like that, I try to come up with a last name with contrasting vowel sounds. I have a big stash of all the names and words I've come up with over the years, organized by what would sound better for people, planets/cities, and materials. So whenever I need to create a new character or name the capital city of some planet, I reference that list and see if there's anything I like. I currently have two full notebook pages of names (three columns across) as well as a list on my phone. I've also used online generators for some of the material names, just so I'm sure it's an element or metal or something that doesn't already exist ;)(less)

Hi Sarah,

Wow sorry it took me so long to see this question! Yes, I'm actually currently working on 2 more books that take place in the Ziva Payvan universe, Fracture and Embers . This duology will kind of be a sequel to the trilogy as a whole; it features a number of familiar characters and builds off plot points that were introduced in Ronan , but I'm also considering it separate from the rest of the series. As I very eloquently explained it once, it's "the same but different" ;) Information on both stories is available on my site—there's a little more substance to the Fracture page, including an excerpt. Progress is being made!

In terms of general sci-fi, I have a couple of unrelated projects brewing in the back of my mind. One is more of a near-future-Earth cyberpunk/psychological thriller setup, while the other is a semi-comedic Ocean's Eleven-style heist/space opera. No idea when I'll ever get to those, but the ideas are definitely there.(less)

Best Served Cold: An #Ariva Valentine's Adventure

Soooo…this is just a little something I’ve had running through my head for the past couple of years. The first year I thought of it, it was about two days before Valentine’s Day and there was no way I would’ve had time to write it. And then last year, I totally forgot about it until, once again, just a couple of days before. So it found its way onto my writing to-do list, and even though it wasn’t Read more of this blog post »

“You know, I've always admired you for seeming so selfless and trying to shift the blame to yourself, but then I got to thinking...." He turned around to address her directly, and his eyes were colder than she'd ever seen them. "Maybe you just can't stand the thought of everything not being about you.”
E.J. Fisch, Ronan

“I'm going to stick by you, for better or for worse."

"It will most likely be worse, you know."

"Yeah, I figured.”
E.J. Fisch, Nexus

“He glanced to the walkways on either side of him, wondering what the chances were that he would actually catch sight of Ziva. Keeping an eye out for someone who didn't want to be found - especially when that someone was Lieutenant Ziva Payvan - was as close to futile as something could get. It wasn't a matter of finding her, but rather of her making herself known when she saw fit.”
E.J. Fisch, Nexus

Topics Mentioning This Author

“I'm sure you remember Lieutenant Tarbic."

E.J. Fisch, Dakiti

“What do you think you're going to do with an antique rifle?"

E.J. Fisch, Nexus

“Is she always like this?"

"Like what? A sociopathic shouka? Not always, if you can believe it. Is she always damn good at what she does? Yes. Always.”
E.J. Fisch, Ronan

“He wondered briefly if she always got people to do her bidding just by looking at them.”
