The Hometown Heartless #1

Between Never and Forever

Rate this book
She was the first rule I ever broke.
She'll be the last.
In the beginning, there was Savannah Shaw.
Teasing me with a mischievous, merciless grin by day.
Crawling through my window with tear-stained cheeks by night. I was ordered to avoid her.
Lectured on her misdeeds.
Forbidden from seeing her.
But my need to protect her was innate.
So natural I never questioned it.
So visceral I couldn't fight it. She was the first rule I ever broke, and it's why I lost her the first time. Now, out of nowhere, there is Sav Loveless.
World famous front woman for The Hometown Heartless,
Hollywood's newest up-and-coming film star,
and my daughter's idol. Her reputation for trouble precedes her,
but the celebrity who sets foot in my small town is no longer a girl in need of protecting.
She's a woman who has saved herself,
and this time, it's my life that's falling apart. Maintaining the distance between us is imperative,
but everything about her pulls at every part of me.
My need to touch her clouds my logic.
My need to have her, to own her, to love her. She'll be the last rule I ever break,
but this time, it will be to keep her. *** This is an alternative cover of the book Between Never and Forever .
The story remains the same.

Brit Benson

Brit Benson writes real, relatable romance novels. She likes outspoken, independent heroines, dirty-talking, love-struck heroes, and plots that get you right in the feels.

Brit would almost always rather be reading or writing. When she's not dreaming up her next swoony book boyfriend and fierce book bestie, she's getting lost in someone else's fictional world. When she's not doing that, she's probably marathoning a Netflix series or wandering aimlessly up and down the aisles in Homegoods, sniffing candles and touching things she’ll never buy.

Alright. 😩
Clears throat. 🗣️
Swirls wine. 🍷

👏 This. 👏 Book. 👏 Was. 👏 Trash. 👏

Not just regular old trash, but the trash that smells up the whole mf neighborhood.

It's so odd that I can literally scream this author's glory from one side of Goodreads to the other just the other week, and come here today to talk about how shitty this book was.

Both the FMC and MMC come from troubled upbringings.

╰┈➤˗ˏˋThe FMC - Savannah (not the author's fault, but my daughters name and so even more cringe on occasion.) has a drug addicted mother who puts her into unsavory situations with men.

╰┈➤˗ˏˋOur MMC - Levi has extremely strict and religious parents - especially his mother who really despises Savannah. She's apparently trailer trash in her eyes.

A few years later, down in Miami, Fl. Savannah and Levi meet up again, she's working at a strip club to make ends meet and not living the best life but that soon changes as they get a call to go on tour with their music band.

Levi vows to stay with her and make it work but after Savannah goes through his phone and discovers he has quite the surprise- not the good kind. She takes off.

8 years later, yet again. Savannah is now a world wide rock star and is in town to tour. The two cross paths again and all kinds of weird shit starts happening. Like, off the wall for what reason did you write this?

➺ The relationship felt forced
➺ There was zero chemistry
➺ You are forced to hear the FMC sing in the audiobook (gag)
➺ Why is this drunken druggie loved by children across the world?
➺ The spice gave me the ick
➺ The fact that the MMC was audibly growling at men that even glanced her way - I got nothing.

I definitely do not recommend this particular book. Ugh. So mad at the author for letting me down like this.

After reading The Love You Fight For - I just KNOW this is going to be an amazing read as well! 😭😭 I'm developing quite the obsession with Brit Benson books. So, so, good. I'm so excited to start this!

This shit has ⚠️ SPOILERS ⚠️

The only reason I’m giving 3 stars it’s because I absolutely love Savannah and I only wish she had learned how to love herself better and found someone who made her a priority.

Now Levi… I LOATHE that man. LOATHE. And I’ll tell you why so that you can avoid this shit show if you need too.

Usually I don’t read books that have kids from another relationship, but sometimes I like to live on the edge and remember why I don’t do some shit. This is why. Levi is a great dad, no one can take that from him. But he is a great lover? No. At least not for Savannah. After what she went through she deserved to be someone’s first choice, to be loved loudly and without restraint. And Levi wasn’t capable of doing that.

🚩Levi walked away. As much as he likes to pretend that Savannah broke his heart, he absolutely shattered hers. Fuck him.

🚩 He doesn’t love S. He’s possessive and thinks he owns her. He kissed her so he would be her first kiss. He fucked to take her virginity, when he knew that there was a girl saying she was having his baby. He didn’t wait for Sav, never did. Fuck off.

🚩After he sees her again, what does he do? Goes to his fuck buddy 😃
Although they didn’t fuck, they did make out so he can fuck off.

🚩He promised Savannah he would build a home for her, when he knew she never had one. Sweet right? Then he moves his wife there and puts a big ass wedding picture on the wall.
Although he didn’t sleep with her and they had separate rooms, it still left a bad taste and was completely unnecessary. His daughter knew they weren’t really together, so WHAT WAS THE REASON? WHAT.WAS.THE.REASON????

🚩Savannah’s “mother” let her daughter be abused and did nothing to help her, even when her daughter took the beatings for her. Doesn’t try to get clean after her daughter runs away, eventually she does and loses her home in a hurricane, Levi is such a good man that he hires her and lets her take care of his precious daughter (after telling Savannah that he doesn’t want her near his daughter because she may infest the poor child with satanic cooties) and when he and S get closer, does he tell her? You guessed it, he lets her be blindsided and basically she has to deal with her abuser being in her life because Brynn needs people who love her

🚩everything is about Brynn and it would be cute if she wasn’t the reason that Savannah kept getting fucked over

🚩Jules, the wife he never wanted and just married because the bitch was dying but keeps being lovely referred as his wife in his thoughts, actually lied. Surprise, surprise.

🚩The daughter wasn’t even his, but he wanted her to be so eventually he adopted her and that felt like another betrayal, because he knew and chose her. And didn’t tell S until the press released it 😊

🚩The way that he got all offended that Savannah was wearing a engagement ring because it should be his, when he was wearing his wedding band

🚩the fact that their house is decorated with pictures of his dead wife 💀

✅ the best part was that fucking house burning down

I didn’t like Brynn. I don’t care that she was 7 and it was not her fault, I read this book because of Savannah. I wanted her to thrive, to get her HEA. But it felt more like a Levi book, who did everything for Brynn and Savannah was just an after thought. The ways this man hurt her for his daughter, I wished she walked away. No man is worth that amount of heartbreak, and especially a man that isn’t capable of taking care of his daughter without hurting the supposed love of his life. Not for me.

Savannah Shaw and Levi Cooper have my whole fucking heart! I'm a sucker for the childhood friends to lovers trope, especially when it's a second chance romance, and this was no exception. Savannah and Levi's story is told during three time periods: 15 years old, 18 years old, and present day, and I loved reading about every point on their timeline. Every single second of their romance was heartbreaking and beautiful all at once.

Savannah grew up with a drug addicted mother whose boyfriend beat the shit out of her on a regular basis, and Levi was raised in a house with parents that used religion as a weapon and warped it however they wanted to fit their agenda. Neither have it easy, but with Savannah's life being in danger, Levi does whatever he can to keep her safe despite his parents forbidding him from having anything to do with her.

How was I supposed to be anything but 100 percent emotionally invested and completely consumed by a love story that starts like this one? I simply had no choice in the matter, and for these two, the hits just keep on coming, so it became an absolute impossibility for me to put the book down and walk away from Savannah and Levi. Throw in the twists, turns, and smoking hot sex scenes, and I was a goner.

Between Never and Forever is my third read from Brit Benson, and I think it's safe to say now that's she's moving onto my list of autobuy authors. If you're an angst whore like myself, I seriously recommend you check her out. She's satisfied my craving every single time I've opened one of her books, and that is the highest compliment coming from me.

There is so much more I want to say about this story. In fact, I planned to, but I don't want to spoil the ride for anyone else for the sole enjoyment of purging all my thoughts onto the page. Just take my word for it. This is a great fucking book. Read it!

Angsty, second chance romance fans, this one's for you!

Opinion Breakdown
The Good: The premise, the starting 3/4ish, the beginning angst, the H's daughter!

The Not-So-Good: The closure. I know I say below in the "bad" about the end, but I think there were too many other unanswered questions not necessarily about the mcs' romance that I felt I wanted closure with.

The Bad: The last 1/4ish. It started getting to be OTT drama and then it ended abruptly with not nearly enough closure! After ~448 pages on my kindle app, I invested a lot of time and attention for such a lackluster ending!

Overall: I was totally digging and excited about this book for the first probably 3/4ths! Then it took a turn to not turn out the way I was hoping. This author offers an extended epilogue if you sign up, but if you follow me you know I just don't do that. I am bummed that this turned into such fast-forward super drama! It was angsty enough with the bad timing they already had -- it didn't need the OTT soap opera stuff! I honestly don't know how to rate this one...

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Savannah and Levi's story. Savannah would seek out her friend, Levi, to escape her home growing up. When she runs away from home after they share their first kiss at 15, they think that goodbye is forever. Only they meet again at 18 and the feelings for each other flood back in. But their timing is bad again. Fast forward and Savannah is a famous rockstar and Levi is a single dad trying to get by with his architectural company. There are some secrets revealed, some hot sexy times and some sad and some sweet moments...and they get a HFN ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Savannah and Levi's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good until the end. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, they've known each other most of their lives.

H (Hero) rating: 4 stars. Levi. I liked him. He was a good combo of sweet, protective, loyal, and sexy.

h (heroine) rating: 4 stars. Savannah. I liked her too. I appreciated her spunk and how she was loyal. I also loved her relationship with the H's daughter and her fans.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends in an alright place but I felt like it was way too abrupt and not nearly enough. I would call it a HFN ending

Safety: This one should be either Safe or Safe with exception for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences

A rockstar and second chance romance. Sav and Levi’s love story was one heck of a ride. Messy and emotional. Hurt feelings but feelings still going strong seven years later since they last saw each other and Levi walked out of Sav’s life.
A rockstar story with messed up people. Addiction and abuse played a part in Sav’s life but music saved her along with Levi.
These two had a connection and it was so good. The banter and them pushing one another was the best.
It’s a story with twists and some amazing side characters. My only issue was the length of the story but that’s a me thing. I was entertained and invested in this tumultuous love story.

╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

ღ 𝙱𝙴𝚃𝚆𝙴𝙴𝙽 𝙽𝙴𝚅𝙴𝚁 𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝙵𝙾𝚁𝙴𝚅𝙴𝚁 ღ Is a full length romance book by Brit Benson

Once I saw the cover, read the blurb, noticed the author I was all in, this was one I was highly anticipating, one I couldn't wait to get my grabby little hands on. Once it landed on my kindle, game over, life was put on hold.

And shamelessly this was inhaled.

350531918-1481724742565625-8591429103484933632-n

Their friendship spanned from a young age to adulthood. She was the girl everyone turned their back on, she carried the sins of her mother on her young shoulders, outcasting her, bruises marring her body from a stepfather who was horrendous and a mother who had clocked out. No one was in Savannah's corner other than him..The boy who always had her back, the boy who cared for her, loved her without even understanding the word, who sheltered her when she needed him the most.

Until she ran away. Running away from a township that wanted to see the back of her.

Years go by until these two meet again. But that thing called timing was out of sync. They had a few more lessons to learn before they would meet again.

To say that I enjoyed the second part of this story was an understatement. This was where the story came into its own, full circle. The feels hit me like a freight train and never let go even after I'd inhaled that last page days later and this is still on my mind.

This author came out swinging with a full bucket of angst taking me prisoner along the way. Like their journey this was one hell of a rollercoaster. Twist and turns, rooting throughout that they make it back to each other, the emotions were raw, the characters were relatable, real, and had me even loving the half pint Boss wholeheartedly. * Teaser used is off the authors facebook page *

Brit Benson wrote one of my favorite books of all time (and I feel as if that says something because I mostly find myself giving lots of two and three stars) but this was TERRIBLE. I didn't see it coming and it's weird because it started off sooooooo stinking promising. Basically once the two main characters became adults is when things turned all wonky.

So, we got this troubled bad girl rockstar as a FMC, which is rad. But like...why were her biggest fans children? What's that about? She's cursing and known for getting drunk, getting high and shooting up in between her toes...I just don't know what kind of music a person can produce that's appropriate for the 7 year in this book. I just don't get it, sorry. Bet it happens today but I just can't see it. I'm sure I'm wrong for even mentioning it but whatev.

On to my next problem - the pacing. Insta love between FMC and MMC and even an insta-relationship forms between the FMC and her love interest's 7 year old daughter. FMC (can't even remember her name tbh) unbeliavably becomes super close to the guy's kid with one interaction. Telling her bandmates she's met the most incredible person and blah blah. I don't see how they could've formed such a strong bold so early on and it annoyed me.

MMC had a shit ton of probs.
One - he's like growling and I mean *AUDIBLY* growling on set where the FMC is literally working during her kiss scene with her co-star and HE'S GROWLING. Soooo loud they have to cut scene because everyone hears him growling. WHAT EVEN please let the woman work!!!!!!!!! Not to mention this happens so early on, he and the FMC have had almost none interaction 'til now to even warrant this kind of behavior. He does this again later on and it's just nuts to me that this man won't let her do her job. She's acting for Christ's sake.

Two - he's constantly seeing red and doing his alpha-male strut around the FMC's bandmate Torren (why can I only remember his name lol???) To the point where it makes zero sense.

"But if you want to fuck around and find out, be my guest." I smirk. "I think I'd like seeing you humiliated, and it's been a while since I've busted my knuckles on your face. I kind of missed the feeling."
HE SMIRKED??? He is quite the villain. SUCH A FREAKIN MENACE I'm telling you, because Torren isn't even doing anything at all. He's just straight up chilling most the time and MMC has such a hard on for being a dick to him.

And let's not forget the weird scene when Torren even says something quite normal and nice to the MMC's daughter. WHATAAAAHHHHH.

"I hear you're doing great" Torren chimes in, and Brynn grins up at him. I clear my throat with my eyes on him, and when he looks at me, I make sure my face conveys the threat. Don't mess with what's mine."
Man is INSANE.

Three:
"You want to be a rocktar? I'm going to fuck you like one."
He deserved jail time for that, straight to the garbage bin. KILL ME NOW.

Four: and quite possibly the most offensive thing this man did is when he said
"If anyone is going to be in a leaked sex tape with you, it should be me. Not Torren King. Not anybody. It should fucking be me,"
and this won't make sense if you haven't read the book but he is angry at the FMC for something sooooo absurd - for not correcting the press when they thought she was caught banging her bandmate and not the MMC. HE IS MAD AT HER FOR THIS and I am getting so worked up listing this man's faults that I'm forced to lower my rating for this book. Officially down to 1 star.

And this needs to be said..."He's a good man, Savannah." (A good man!) was said and I have no idea if it was done intentionally or not lol.

Savannah and Levi grew up together. Both of their lives were full of torment and they were each other's only true comfort. They were friends and loved each other before they even knew what love was. And when circumstances separated them, that love continued to beat within their hearts, not allowing anyone else to touch it.

Fastforward and now Levi's a widower with a child and Savannah is an infamous rock star. Circumstances once again forced them into each other's orbit and after a thankfully brief time of miscommunication, these two found their way back to each other. There were plenty of hurdles and obstacles that they had to leap and punch their way through, but it was incredibly easy to root for these two.

I loved that the author didn't shy away from sharing Savannah's addiction and how it was wrecking not only her life, but those around her. I felt proud and hopeful of the woman she was becoming and that's all because of this author's writing. It was easy to be a little imp on this character's shoulder, egging her on, supporting her, shouting NO, and celebrating every one of her triumphs. I couldn't be more pleased with the way this story played out.

I'm not even going to get started on how much I loved the dynamic between Levi, Boss and Savannah. Throw in Sharon and the love growing between all of these characters, including the members of the band... so sweet!

So yeah, I'll be keeping a keen eye on this author's releases because if they're anything like this one, they're going to be amazing.

the book was really promising in the beginning. i had a lot of sympathy for both Levi and Savanah and was rooting for them but everything went down after they reconnected in Miami.

the real happy ending would have been savannah telling Levi and Sharon to shove it and getting with someone who actually treats her with love and respect. Levi was a possessive alphahole who in my opinion got everything he wanted while sacrificing LITERALLY NOTHING. i felt the relationship was so one sided with Levi saying how much he loved her but doing nothing to show it. he showed red flag after red flag but honestly the biggest thing was blindsiding Savannah with Sharon, her literal abuser. in my opinion, this is how that scene should have gone.

“you let my abusive, drug addict mother who traumatized me and who i’m still in therapy for into your life and now, if i want to be with you, i have to get over it all because your daughter ‘needs people who love her’. thanks but i’d literally rather die.”

*End Scene*

Epilogue:
Savannah lived happily ever after with a new man who loves and cherishes her and Levi and his weird a$$ family were never heard from or thought of again.

This was a GOOD TIME. I knew it was gunna be decent a few pages in. I rated the next life duet by Britt Benson so wanted to try more of her stuff. Second chance rockstar romance, single dad but the FMC is the rockstar? Say. No. More.

I LOVED the first half of this book ❤️‍🔥 Set entirely in the past we learn why Levi and Savannah fell out and honestly, the concept is so unique, the drama popped off and I couldn’t get enough!!!! I was excited to get into the present, itching to see how their paths would cross.

The second half didn’t quite hit for me, and I definitely skim read. It was too long, lots of redundant scenes between 50-65% that could have been cut. Also not enough conflict and something was ✨missing✨ for me. I didn’t truly connect to either Savannah or Levi, they weren’t properly fleshed out.

With Savannah, her journey to becoming a singer in a band felt odd. Like her addiction issues. More of an afterthought and skimmed over.

I also wasn’t a fan of all the crazy plot twists/developments after 60% like woaaaaah.

But idc, Britt Benson is one to watch!! I’ll definitely read more of her work 🥰

Tropes:
~ Rockstar romance
~ Second chance
~ Small town
~ Single dad

These two grew up being neighbors so this is also kind of childhood friends to lovers as well.. ;) Savannah comes from a troubled home where she isn't treated well or taken care of, whereas Levi comes from a very religious household. They are very much opposites.

One night Sav sneaks into Levi's room (as she usually does) but this time it isn't to just escape and sleep over in his bed, but she tells him she has to leave town and get away from her mom and her abusive boyfriend.

Levi's parents do not agree with him spending time with her and have always told him to stay away from her.

These two run into each other again later on when Sav is dancing as a stripper. Levi is there with some of his friends and they wind up going home together. They share their feelings for one another and Levi thinks that they will be together finally. Unfortunately that isn't how things turn out and the two are separated again.

Years go by and Sav becomes a famous rockstar. Levi ends up having a daughter so life for the two of them have gone in total opposite directions, once again.

The cute part is that Levi's daughter is a huge fan of Savannah and her band. Which of course, drives Levi insane because he doesn't want to hear the name Sav ever again, but is constantly stuck hearing about her in tabloids and on the news.. as well as from his daughter.

These two end up running into each other again on a movie set that Levi helped build and things basically take off from there. There is a lot of push and pull in this book which made it very angsty.

I felt all of the emotions with this one which I really enjoy! 😊

I listened to this book on audio and think the narrators did such a fantastic job. Highly recommend checking out the audiobook if you enjoy those.

This book follows Sav and Levi. They met in the 2nd grade and although are complete opposites, form a beautiful friendship.

I loved the playfulness to their relationship. Although they went through some dark and traumatic times, they always brought light and laughter into each others lives.

Levi really took me by surprise in this book. He went from being the goodie two shoes to an alpha man. His transformation was 🔥

The spicy scenes were top tier!

It’s a rockstar romance with a lot of twists and turns. These MC’s go through a lot before they get their HEA.

I absolutely loved the main and side characters. This is one of those stories where you get so invested in the whole world. I’m such a sucker for a rockstar romance, so I knew I would love this one!

This was the perfect mix of everything I crave from an angsty read with the hot scorching sex…it was fire. 🥵 Let’s take a moment and talk about Sav. She was the one reason I stuck it out and finished this. I wanted her to get her HEA, even though at the end I wasn’t sure Levi was the one to give her that. His jealous tendencies were OTT… I love a possessive hero but to an extend, however he made it all up in the bedroom. I’m just glad the big weenie and the brat got what they deserved… each other.
Side note: the book was to long for my liking. I was ready to be done by the 75% mark, & everything that transpired in the last 25% didn’t seem necessary. It was just too much and I felt not necessary. A good epilogue could of taken care of all the necessary drama.

BRIT HAS DONE IT AGAIN! I was in deep from the get go. The friendship, history, love that these two share through everything is addictive and kept me glued to the story. All of it had me on my toes while also keeping me on the edge of my seat just waiting for everything to happen. I flew through this one so fast I had to read it again slower to fully bask in the writing and nuances of all the characters. Ms Benson just keeps blowing me away with her emotional storytelling. Bravo girl!

This is my first book by Brit Benson but it most definitely won't be my last. I absolutely adored this story and loved that Sav was the famous rockstar, returning to her small town to reconnect with single father, Levi. It was a refreshing change having the roles reversed.
These two were made for each other and I was so obsessed with the evolution of their relationship.

“I don’t think the universe is done with us yet.”

This story is about two souls meant to be together, but everything in the universe is forcing them apart.

I don’t want to give too much away, but the audiobook was brilliant, as was the storyline. I was honestly shocked by all the plot twists—I didn't see them coming at all. I love Sav and Levi together; you can feel the tension and chemistry between them. The nicknames they had for each other made me love them even more. Levi’s jealousy and possessiveness are so hot, and don’t even get me started on his filthy mouth. Sav comes across as a free spirit who has been through so much, yet she's strong enough to make it on her own despite the challenges she’s faced. I’m so glad it all worked out in the end, and I’m excited for the next book.

However, I will say the media subplot dropped off toward the end. I would have liked to see how the fake situation was resolved and how the new relationship was handled. The story stopped after the rooftop scene. Other than that, it was a brilliant read.

If you like friends to enemies to lovers, second chance, single dad, rockstars, celebrity and dirty spicy scenes, this is the book you need to pick up!

Levi and Savanah used to be friends even though they were seemingly from different worlds. He was coming from a very strict and religious family and she had the trailer park life with abuse and neglect. Things get in the way and their lives take different paths. Until they meet again..

Wow guys! Brit did it again!! She gave us another amazing book!! I don't know what to tell you, guys. I'm addicted at this point. This book has some really loving and adorable moments, lots of angst, suspense, plot twists and really filthy spicy scenes! You definitely need a fan, while reading this, I'm telling you, Levi is the Daddy of the year. Combine him with a brat like Sav and you have the best combo ;)

I have to say that there was a point where one twist kept striking one after the other and I was speechless. I might have ignored and missed all the hints, but I didn't see them coming and I gasped out loud! I love how Brit always gives character development and second chance to characters we may not like and end up sympathising with them. It definitely gives you food for thought. There are some characters though that you just don't feel any sympathy and just want to see them rot :)

Definitely recommend it if you love reading romance and I'm looking forward to reading more books about the rest of the Hometown Heartless band members!!

✨ Small Town

✨ Single dad
✨ Second chance

“𝘚𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘢𝘩 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘸 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘮.”

Savannah and Levi grew up in a small town. Best friends who were separated by circumstances but reconnect and realize they want more than just friendship. They thought it was going to last forever but once again, they are torn apart. Now years later, Savannah is Sav Loveless, famous singer and front woman for The Hometown Heartless. When her career lands her back in Levi’s small town, they are forced to face their past and what led them to drift apart. They quickly learn their feelings for each other haven’t changed.

This story had some unexpected twists and turns and of course, some spicy spice. Levi could get it! 🤌🏻 I love that we had a female rockstar! 🎸Savannah and Levi had such a great connection and chemistry. I’m so glad they got their HEA. It wasn’t an easy road, that’s for sure! 😅

I really loved this. This is the 2nd book I've read by this author and the way she writes keeps me emotionally invested in these stories. We get the angst and character development of these characters as we go through their journey of heartache. Levi was such an amazing character. He's so sweet and just wants to help when we first meet him, and then we get grumpy grown up Levi. He's so sexy but still has that sweetness about him that he just can't help, but without being a pushover either. I loved him for Savannah. She's been through so much and is so rough around the edges, but Levi always sees her for more. It ends a bit chaotic and almost feels like there could be more to the story. I wouldn't mind that one bit, definitely reading more by this author

Wow! This book blew me away! I completely fell in love with the story of Savannah and Levi!! 💜💜 I have to say it guys, but these two stole my heart more than Mason and Lennon and that’s saying something! ✨

I just loved the connection of these two, and how Levi was always there for Sav since the beginning. It was so sweet, and I completely loved Sav’s and Levi’s characters. The introduction into their childhood was so interesting, and I was hooked from the beginning, they were both complete soulmates! 🌛

It was so refreshing to read a reckless badass female character, as usually it’s the male in a trope like this, so it was so interesting to read about Savannah. And I loved the contrast of the responsible-ness of Levi. He never judged her ONCE in this book, and was there as her support through everything. 💫

The scene where they met for the first time again when they were 18 was amazing, and straight away they went back to their dynamic!! 🔐

And the chemistry!!! 🔥 Oh my gosh, older Levi was something let me tell you haha I loved watching his character develop and grow over the years!! Brynn was also such a great addition! Seeing Levi be a Dad was so sweet!! 🐾

I also extreemly appreciated that I felt in this book the drama wasn’t so high, and there wasn’t really much miscommunication, I never really got annoyed, I was just in for the ride!!

I’m so intrigued by most of these cast of characters, and hope we get other books diving into their stories, I’m especially interested in Jonah, I want him to be okay! 🎶

There was just something that drew me to these two, and hooked me, the angst and love was amazing! 🌙

An awesome read, Brit Benson certainly didn’t disappoint!!! 💜 🌊 ✨

A Rockstar Romance where she is the rockstar and he is the single dad, who held her when she was a teenager too afraid to go back home...Swoon, cry, die inside!
I loved this book with my whole body. Levi is the PERFECT book boyfriend; I adore that man and i low key wish I had a Levi when i was a teenager and felt the way Sav did.
This is a friends to lovers to enemy and back again, romance. The tension!!! Levis mouth...phew! Brit Benson has quickly become one of my favorite authors of all time! I am now on my 5th book of hers and I'm so addicted!

This was my first read from Brit and she has hands down one of the most beautiful writing styles. I cannot wait to read more from her.

I was immediately addicted to this book, the story and the characters. This book is one of the reasons I love second chance so much. I felt my heart in my throat at every turn of the page. I really felt it had such amazing character development too and not just from main characters.

Everything about Levi and Savannah’s story was so incredibly raw and beautiful. Savannah’s faced such adversity but turned it around. Her bravery, fierceness and strength really made this story. Levi was not to be under estimated. No SIR. He was definitely a little timid at the beginning but daddy Levi 🥵 these two were absolute soul mates.

My favourite thing about second chances are the MC’s reuniting and Levi and Savannah had such an angsty reunion I was just about screaming for! There were some great plot twists as well, that you didn’t see coming.

Rockstar romance meets small town and it was delicious and so addictive, I didn’t want it to end.

“The universe brought you back to me for a reason, Savannah. You and me, we’re fated.” 🤍

Savannah and Levi have been an unlikely pair since they were friends in school. Her, the wild untamed girl, and him, the quiet church boy. When Sav finally gets out of town after a lifetime of mistreatment thinking she’ll never see Levi again, he pops up again unexpectedly but she isn’t able to keep him. Years later, Sav is back home as Savannah Loveless - the lead singer of the Hometown Heartless, his daughter’s favorite band.

OBSESSED 👏🏼 WITH 👏🏼 THEM 👏🏼
This book completely caught me off guard. I was hooked from the prologue and it literally never let me go 🫠 I am such a sucker for childhood friends to lovers/second chance romance. The HISTORY between Levi & Savannah made this book so so so good. I absolutely loved the then & now timeline and especially that it was chronological. We got to grow up with them too 🥹 Levi is the biggest simp for Sav and his obsession with her never faded. Sav had such a rough life and the way she made a name for herself and came out of it all was perfect. These two have my whole entire heart 😭🫶🏻

Microtropes & moments I loved:
Boy OBSESSED
Caretaking
She corrupts him 🤭
The strip club
Their nicknames
Miami 🥺
The lock 😭

Tropes:
Good boy/bad girl
Opposites attract
Rockstar
Second chance
Childhood friends to lovers
Dual timeline
Single dad
Angsty
