★★★★★! Do Not Disturb, book 2 of X. A captivating, suspenseful & soul-searching journey for a reclusive heroine with secrets!

All books in the Deanna Madden romantic thriller series are stand-alones, but most enjoyed if read in order:
Book 1: The Girl in 6E
Book 2: Do Not Disturb
Book 3: If you Dare
- November 2015

In The Girl in 6E we followed Deanna Madden three years after she cocooned herself in apartment 6E. Working for webcam company as Jessica Reilly, a student and sex kitten, her carefully structured life was prompted by her phobia that she was a danger to society. That fear stemmed from the gruesome circumstances in which she lost her whole family.

She had accepted her solitary existence until one day when, through work she encountered what looked to be a murderer on the hunt for his next victim. The story went on to follow her on a dangerous and suspenseful mission taking on a bad guy.

Do Not Disturb (book 2) picks up several weeks after book 1’s ending. Jeremy Bryant the easygoing UPS driver who stepped up as her friend and suitor is persistently yet patiently pursuing more with Deanna. Deanna is continually stepping out of her comfort zone until a dark force pushes her back into hunter and killer mode for an exhilarating manhunt and fight for survival.

Nine words to describe Deanna: Bad-ass, smart, brave, perceptive, organized, loyal, responsible, broken and captivating.

Nine words to describe Jeremy Bryant: Laidback, patient, loyal, charming, endearing, perceptive, easygoing, determined and safe.

Do Not Disturb is a roller-coaster of events and suspense as well as Deanna’s continued journey of self-discovery. It’s a nail-biter aaall the way to the end, leaving Deanna and Jeremy in a great place yet with the door open for in the stand-alone book 3, If You Dare with another adventure in the complex and evolving life of Deanna Madden.

Brilliant and effortless storytelling! Thrilling and mysterious plot! Captivating and bad-ass heroine! Swoon-worthy and adorable hero!

After finishing book one of the Deanna Madden series The Girl in 6E, I couldn’t wait for the follow up. Happy to report it did not disappoint! So good in fact, I enjoyed it just as much! (How often does that happen?)

For the safety of everyone even remotely in the vicinity of dear Deanna, she’s still locking herself in her apartment. (Thank you again, Deanna). But that may not be enough. What happens when trouble comes knocking on her door?

This book had it all! A terrific premise for all you thriller lovers plus plenty of heat for those that like it hot!🔥 Deanna and her special UPS delivery man Jeremy were heating up the pages. (well, in my case my earbuds.) I love how much she desperately needs him, yet can’t fully let her guard down…for his safety and both their hurting hearts. Jeremy has grown to love her completely, flaws and all! And I think we can all agree…being a stone-cold killer is a fairly substantial hic-up to overcome. Ah, young love...what can you say?💁🏻‍♀️

Once again the narrator nailed it! And brought the characters to life. You are taken into Deanna’s frightening world as she fights the eternal battle between the good and evil that lie within her soul.

And yes! I’ve already started the audio for the final book in this series.

I have an eclectic taste when it comes to reading, my greatest love being emotionally, angst driven tales with depth and characters whom have truthful motivation for everything they do and say. I like relationships to be a focal point and I adore romance, be it dark or sweet or somewhere in between. DO NOT DISTURB offers all this plus a variant I don’t often seek out in my reading material, it’s a THRILLER, a thriller laced with erotica and suspenseful intrigue all wrapped up in the talent of my favourite author and falls perfectly into the Erotic Suspense Genre. It offers a walk on the dark and wild side, I had a feeling I would enjoy the ride and OH MY GOODNESS... It's crazy. It’s chilling! I felt anticipation, uncertainty and terror. I was on the edge of my seat, scared to turn the page during certain moments. I felt surprised, and sickened, it made my heart beat so fast, I couldn’t believe what was happening, the suspense, the fear..... And all of it contrasts against moments of dry humour, pure pleasure and delicious eroticism..... It’s divinely HOT in places. Do Not Disturb is executed to perfection and pure reading bliss.

A combination of first and third person narrative is used which wonderfully enhances the pace, tension and suspenseful nature of the story telling. Deanna’s perspective is the only character told in first person which dramatically showcases her inner thoughts, allowing the reader into the depths of her mind, leaving no doubt that she’s the main protagonist and the driving force behind the story.

Who will survive her insanity?
Deanna Madden is broken, some would say beyond repair, with issues, that to the sane of mind seem unfathomable. She's an experienced and successful webcam girl, a career choice that aids her sanity and her lifestyle and offers a fascinating picture against her true sexual experiences providing a vulnerable quality to the erotic nature of this story.

We’re introduced to past characters from The Girl in 6E, her on line sex therapist, her hacker friend, Simon, her key holder and Jeremy, her love interest. I love Jeremy. The more he expressed himself, the more invested I became in the story. Their partnering is unconventional and beautiful in equal measure offering a tender contrast against the chilling nature of this story. I delighted in their developing relationship, the one that I felt was promised in The Girl in 6E, it meant so much to experience it, to see it blossom, the direction it takes and the moments they share is something each reader should discover for them-selves.

Despite her on line restraints and unconventionality we still see relationships develop. We’re introduced to Marcus Renza. His character reveals itself through the course of the book and as it all unfolds he has a great impact on the underlying mood and feel of this daring erotic thriller.

A.R. Torre provides the perfect levels of back story for the protagonists, giving them authenticity and plausible motivation; showing the reasons why and in some cases showcasing the depths of their depravity. The information is weaved throughout the prose, plot points and climatic situations occurring at the most effective time. I felt uncertainty about how far the characters would go; I felt their daring, their willingness to take things to the extreme. The thrilling nature of this book took me to some dark edges with the characters and I revelled in it.

Deanna's inherent desires seem unfathomable yet interestingly, for me, her thirst for blood shown against the inherent evil of the bad guy is fascinating. Deanna has a desire for control and that’s one of the reasons she’s beguiling as a leading lady.... She’s bad but she wishes so bad that she wasn’t. The fantasies she provides for others during her webcam activities in turn satisfy her compulsions, her desires, as long as she follows her rules. Her vulnerabilities are powerful, they pull on my heart strings, make me care about her, despite her rather unusual heroine qualities. She’s a flawed character; she struggles daily, by the hour, minute by minute fighting her urges distracting herself with her webcam activities.

The cyber interaction, and indeed the cyber-sex appear crucial to her existence and equally provide the undercurrent of eroticism. Some of the cyber names made me smile and chuckle. ElephantCock4You is a stand out and some of her client's antics are quite amusing. The casual nature of the writing and descriptions of the said amusing antics in the prose starkly juxtapose against the darker context of this story.

For my reading tastes, the writing of A.R. Torre, also known as Alessandra Torre, is nothing short of genius, the way she weaves the telling of a tale is absolute perfection. The story captivated me with its erotic loveliness and romance, it ebbs and flows with peeks and lulls, exposing readers to both pleasure and shock. It’s insanely depraved in places, but it’s not drawn out which only adds to the shocking edge.

I was lulled with erotica and then gripped with the twisted and macabre. DO NOT DISTURB is a brilliant chilling and suspenseful read laced with vulnerability, loveliness and fascinating characters. The wonderful, visually rich descriptions teamed with the pace of the story create the perfect suspenseful ambiance. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. By the time I got to the end, past the climax and then the full circle of DO NOT DISTURB I felt the pure brilliance. If you enjoy unique stories with perfectly developed characters that are layered with intrigue and the sensual element of erotica then you will so ENJOY this story. I absolutely LOVED it and I'm counting the days to Deanna Madden #3.

**Note: Each Deanna Madden book can be enjoyed as a STANDALONE, even though they have the same cast of main characters. However, I believe its best enjoyed after The Girl in 6E**

Bravo Alessandra Torre! This sequel was so extremely well written including the CLEVER plot. The main characters are so well done that you just can’t help but love them while a bad guy addition made this story scary and creepy.

Deanna Madden is still our gorgeous cam girl with the thoughts of a killer while her and our hot UPS delivery guy Jeremy get closer. She is still self imprisoned but has been popping out here and there for some Jeremy time.

”I’m in danger of falling for a man who will one day discover the black actions of my soul and leave me. He’s in danger of falling for a girl who may one day kill him.”

In this sequel they have a real relationship!

”In that moment, in that kiss, I choose to believe anything is possible. I choose to forget all of the horrible things that “anything” can include.”

description

One of her clients turns out to be dangerous but perhaps not as dangerous as our Jessica Reilly the Girl in Apartment 6E!!

”…I’m a fight over flight girl. I see RUN and I think WAR.”

description

There’s no way I’m spoiling this story it’s a crazy good ride that fans of the first book should definitely check out. This story doesn’t end on a cliff so the news of another book was completely shocking. I do have a few ideas about the next book like that doctor - totally don’t trust him and I’m super excited for more Deanna, Jeremy and of course Mike!

“In this moment, I give him my soul. And he takes away the death and fills me with life.”

5 Just When You Think You Know Stars
* * * * * Spoiler Free-NOW ONLY $1.99!!!!
We sometimes live our lives and think the people we know are exactly as they represent themselves... open, friendly... or we see the selfishness and just chalk it up to who they are...But who are they really...and what is the driving force which causes that selfishness or conversely the friendship...

These are questions that may happen and never be answered...

But when you read Alessandra Torre...and specifically the follow up to The Girl in 6E, Do Not Disturb, it can stimulate all kinds of questions to mull over...Because when you read this book... nothing is as it simply appears... not even love.

We are back with Deanna...and she is experiencing new fresh feelings... things which a woman involved in the simulated sex industry would not usually feel; nervous insecurity. This is due to the duality of Deanna/JessReilly19... one almost purely innocent in her actual physical experience with a man, the other always in control...working the angles, actions to time out perfectly milking the cash clock. This is only part of the beauty and complexity of this woman. It is the draw for Jeremy; he has been there for her when she needed him the most and together they are taking baby steps...and both are being very careful....not pushing for more than Deanna is willing to give.

We are the voyeurs of this budding love...we are there every step of the way and Alessandra delights in lulling us with the everyday...We see how Deanna goes about her captivity...testing with little breaks in her self-imposed prison...pushing the boundaries... sometimes with Jeremy by her side... sometimes going and putting herself up close and personal with all the triggers and desires she fights...all the while talking and testing her shrink seemingly for just the fun of it...but really not.

While we follow this path, there is another in a self-imposed prison... well, more like federally imposed. We are introduced to Marcus, multi-millionaire and violent convict recently released to house arrest. This is a man who feels disrespected by his situation. He has a history of needing to overcome his "short stature complex" since all of the other young men continued to develop and grow past his 5'7'' height. The fact he no longer could physically dominate and make them heel...caused him to do two things: Amass great fortune for money is the ultimate power and take his need to physically dominate and hurt to the lessor in his mind...women.

With his status, money, and arrogance he thought he was invincible. He had his accomplice assist in acquiring his victims; picking them out, drugging and transporting them to where he did his "thing". It worked...well... until it didn't and he had to endure 2 years behind bars. He is wanting a woman and now none of his providers are available...shocked his call girl agency won't even take his money. If he could leave the damn house he would rectify his needs but his attorney has told him he needs to behave.

How dare he talk to him that way....the only outlet seems to be the net...

Now here is when I mention the genius of how the structure of this story uses the principal of the Ripple Effect. We all have experienced it personally in our lives one time or another...and many times without even knowing it. Someone makes a decision or does something causing a change in circumstances which then causes a type of chain reaction...It can be as simple as giving up your place in line with someone who seems more in a hurry... to deciding something more important. Either way, things alter and we can be impacted. Deanna's life and choices stemmed from the decisions of her mother and Deanna coming home unexpectedly. All of that set the path...and every day she deals with it as best she can...

These are the players; Deanna, Jeremy, and this Marcus. We also have Mike, her IT watchdog. We are privy to more about him and his life. We have all we need to become obsessed like many of Deanna's chat regulars...and we happily give ourselves up to it....because in a twisted delightful way... EVERY SINGLE THOUGHT AND ACTION is priceless.... we know there is something more even when Deanna doesn't....but knowing doesn't deter us or bore us...it just heightens the results as we read with our mouths open silently screaming or swooning...all is there to experience.

Within all of this is a statement about love...what it means and how we as humans love; which is profound in its own way. It is an answer to how we can be in this person's corner wishing for what she needs...

Alessandra brought all of the sass, smarts, and sexuality of the first book and coupled it with a sweetness to balance out the raw, feral evil in the world. I haven't forgotten Deanna during this waiting period between books...and to have her back warms my sick twisted heart.

Rumor has it...there is more to come...

We all live different lies.

1. Don't leave the apartment.
2. Never let anyone in.
3. Don't kill anyone.

The rules were simple and I broke them. Now I must face the consequences. Everyone else must face me.

Deanna Madden, you're one crazy bitch , Fucked up doesn't even describe how insane you are ! I loved book one " The girl in 6E" and i was so excited for book 2 and thank god the author did not disappoint her readers , this entire series is not the type of read I've come to expect from Alessandra torre I was seriously impressed.

Deanna is a cam girl who locked herself up in her apartment 6E for 3 years till she meets hot sexy delivery guy "Jeremy" who immediately became obsessed with her and wants nothing more than to be with her , in the first book we learn a lot about deanna dark side and her messed up past , in this one we see her and Jeremy trying to make their relationship works ...This book was AMAZING ! 5 Mind-blowing stars

Jeremy thought he knew the sides to her. The complex, twisted sides of this woman. The woman who tentatively responds to his kiss, as if she is afraid of breaking if pushed too far. The woman whose eyes light with fire, and who carries a dark thread of insanity, one that should make him run but only draws him closer.

5++ disturbednotdefeated STARS

Ms. Torre didn’t disappoint with the second book in the Deanna Madden series. Deanna is damaged. After having witnessed the horrifying murders of her family, something inside her broke and she now has this insatiable desire to kill.

In this book, Deanna continues her life in isolation and confinement but flirts with the boundaries of a “normal” life. She now has a boyfriend, Jeremy Pacer, the sexy and sweet UPS delivery guy, whom she goes out on dates with and she even ventures outside on her own a few times.

 photo DND2_zpsyodga8qv.jpg

And while so much has changed for her, a lot stays the same. Deanna is still her alias, Jess Reilly, making high dough off the desires and fantasies of hundreds of men…

As this story unfolds, it’s apparent that as much as she needs to feel like she has a tight rein on control, she also needs people. She needs that human interaction and she wants to be loved and cared for. The very few people in her life: Jeremy, Mike and Derek (and to a lesser extent, Simon) are all important to her in one way or another. Underneath her dark urges, she is good and she does feel guilt and remorse.

 photo DND quote_zpsyp6sqrpy.jpg

But control is only an illusion. As she wrestles with keeping a tight lid on her urges…

...she also invites the obsessive interest of someone who like her, lives in the shadows and has the blood lust; the desire to inflict pain and watch life vanish before their eyes.

In true AR Torre fashion, this builds to a climax that had me holding my breath…

“...the blade flipped through the man’s hands. Open. Closed. Open.”

Hiss.

Pop.

Hiss.

Pop.

“Angel of death. Dressed in tight black, her head that of an elephant disproportionately large, the log trunk winding down and around.”

“Life is never a precious as when it is threatened.”

This is not a love story although it is about love…and the human psyche, human nature, dark desires, and evil. This was beautifully written and the characters and story had me enthralled from beginning to end.

I’d highly recommend this series although you should read The Girl in 6E before this one. If you like an original, dark tale with love, friendship, danger, suspense and salvation, this series has that and so much more!

PRIOR TO RELEASE:
Ms. Torre never disappoints!

Deanna Madden is damaged. The madness and mayhem continues as we journey further into the darkness of the rabbit hole.

Freedom can be a drug. The more you get, the more you want.

I still remember when I read The Girl in 6E, it was one of the first Alessandra books and I was just in shock and awe. I had no idea what to expect, but was blown away as the story progressed. Deanna Madden loves killing, she knows the danger she is to society so she has taken precautions to protect others from herself. 1. Don't leave the apartment, 2. Never let anyone in, 3. Don't kill anyone.

Since The Girl in 6E Deanna’s life is for the first time in years progressing. She is still working as a cam girl, but she is now dating Jeremy and attempting to get out more. I actually loved this part of the story. I have loved Deanna since I first met her. This girl is seriously badass, but she has tons of heart. She is a complete contradiction, she is a stone cold killer, but is protective and compassionate. She wants to be better, so seeing her life finally move forward gradually made me so happy.

We don't choose who we love, Deanna. You are beautiful to me. Perfect to me. Despite what you struggle with.

Jeremy is the perfect boyfriend for Deanna. I love how he supported and gave her what she needed. He was understanding and wanted to help her battle her demons.

If you are familiar with the talented Alessandra you know this story has to be so much more than a road to recovery. This lady wrote the book on taking you outside your comfort zone and dropping in no mans land without a clue. It’s why she is one of my favorite authors. She always surprises me.

Do Not Disturb takes you on a journey that will have to gasping and breathless. I am not a speed reader, but while reading I was going as fast as I could to see what would happen next. There are multiple heart stopping moments where I thought things would happen one way only to have them go another. That’s thing about Alessandra’s writing even when you think you know, you have no idea.

I absolutely loved this story. I love how we get love, growth and tons of heart. I love how I couldn’t predict this story. I loved the thrilling, suspenseful moments that left my mouth hanging open. I love how this story combines steam, love and suspense without being over the top or unrealistic. Another favorite from the super talented Alessandra! I highly recommend this book if you are fan of suspenseful thrillers, with a whole lot of sexy, and heart.

Pure mayhem with a side of fucking awesome!

After I finished this book, I had to check all my vitals.
Still breathing … heavily ✔
Pulse … erratic ✔
Temperature … boiling ✔
Brain function … barely ✔
Enjoyed the fuck out of this book ✔✔✔✔✔

When I first heard that this book was releasing, I wasn't sure how to react. I was extremely excited to be getting more of Deanna Madden. BUT, The Girl in 6E was so perfect. I really felt a sense of completion with it. I wasn’t certain how another book would play out, or if it was even needed.
I’m not too proud to concede. I was wrong! Very, very wrong. I now realize how incomplete the story was … and, I’ll admit … I still want more!!!

Ms. Torre really knows how to take me to dark and disturbing places & make me feel completely ok with it. More than ok, really. By the end of this book, I was so far down the rabbit hole ... I didn’t know if I could function in society immediately. Much like the main character Deanna, I felt the urge to lock myself away. I needed time to deal with my mental turmoil over this book and the things it made me feel.

Deanna is a fascinating character. Her insanity is so complete. I found myself dragged into her state of mind ... I started to question if her thoughts were really all that irrational. I mean, who hasn’t thought about murdering someone really annoying once or twice? But, the fact that she is able to recognize her own dark desires, and the length she goes to avoid temptation … holy shit! Her inability to lead a normal life: perceived or real? It really makes no difference. Either way, it's an almost insurmountable obstacle. So, despite her darkness, having such a large hardship makes her very empathetic. In so many ways, she is the perfect anti-hero.

The biggest surprise of this story, however, is Mike. NOT at all what I was expecting! He was the best part of the story for me. He develops from a somewhat passive secondary character, to a focused and engaging hero. And I’m really hoping that the third book in this series focuses on his character. I want so much more FROM him and FOR him.

So what holds this back from a full 5 star rating, you ask?
Not much.
It wasn’t quite as good as the first book for me. What really made this rating difficult, were the author’s notes at the end of the book. Describing an alternate ending for one of the main characters is just a huge tease! I really wish she had written it that way! For me, it would have better suited the overall tone of the book. Also, there was a lot of build-up (which I loved) … but, Deanna’s peak moment felt short lived … the high gave way very quickly … bringing on so many mixed emotions (for me & the character) … I had a hard time determining how I really felt about the outcome.
Please don’t misunderstand … I’m not unhappy with the way things ended. I understand why A.R. Torre made her decision. And I’m confident that the majority of readers will be pleased with the ending.

One thing that needs to be highlighted is the indescribable style of this author. The entire book is so incredibly well written! I honestly believe that Ms. Torre could write a shopping list & make it interesting. And I would most definitely want to read it! One thing's for sure … I am already anticipating her next release!

Thank you to the author for providing me an advance copy for review. ❤️

I'm having problems today and just can't seem to find the words for a review, so I'm going to wing it, so here goes.

I REALLY enjoyed this second installment of this series. The story grabbed me and held on tight the whole way through. This is series is unlike any other I've ever read and you know what? I LOVED every moment!

I loved reading about Deanna's ventures with dating Jeremy and also taking small steps into a normal life outside of apartment 6E.

Deanna

Jeremy, Deanna's boyfriend is a UPS delivery man. I found him super sweet and extremely sexy, he was also very patient with his desires for her. My only complaint is I wished he would have had a bigger roll in this read.

Jeremy

We also got more of Deanna's hacker and friend Mike. He plays a BIG roll in this story.

Then there was Marcus, This guy was evil to the bone! He made a HUGE mistake messing with Deanna.

In the end, things worked out for Deanna and we are not left with a cliffhanger however it is a bit of an abrupt ending at 93%. I was so wanting the end scene to play all the way through. I guess I'll just have to wait for book 3, If You Dare to release this coming Fall.

WARNING There is a lot of violence added to this story so if you are faint of heart I do not recommend this book/series to you.

"There has to be a plan. I have to have a purpose. I am, despite all that rots in my core, a good person."

Do Not Disturb is ACT 2 of the Deanna Madden Series. As expected by readers everywhere, Ms. Torre does not disappoint.

In the Girl in 6E, we fell in love with the heroine Deanna Madden. Deanna is a strong spirited young woman with deep issues to work through. This character has complex layers that are just waiting to unravel.

description

Do Not Disturb picks up directly after the conclusion of The Girl in 6E. Things are changing fast for Deanna. She now feels like she can venture out of her apartment to explore the outside world. She has formed an unconventional relationship with Jeremy.

"I have a boyfriend, and he has “stopped by” after work. I feel so normal. And the thought of killing him hasn’t even crossed my mind."

description

Jeremy is the UPS man who delivered packages to her for the past three years. He has also fallen in love with her. Jeremy recognizes the brokenness in Deanna and yet he loves her anyway. He doesn’t quite understand her struggles nor does he admit that he wants to know. He does however recognize that she is special. He wants to break down her walls. I admire Jeremy for his patience, loving spirit, and unwavering dedication to make Deanna feel safe. He is willing to take her exactly how she is. Who doesn’t love a hero who is willing to do that?

description

Jeremy isn’t the only supporting character in this read. We have her inner demon (a character in itself), Dr. Derek, Mike, and the nemesis (who shall not be named).

The killer inside

"Star light. Star bright. First star I see tonight. I wish I may, wish I might. Not kill those whom my heart holds tight."

description

Deanna’s issues are dark and desperately trying to break through. She struggles minute by minute with the killer inside of her. Always lurking close to the surface just waiting desperately to break out. Just a simple trip to the convenience store can bring on an epic battle within her.

"Baby steps. Ice cream Snickers Bar. Dr Pepper. Return home. I can handle this."

Dr. Derek

description

“I’m not asking your permission. It’s my body. My life.”

Her healthcare provider for the past three years, the good doctor has offered her countless hours of advice. Deanna wants to please him. It is a constant dance of advance and retreat. Doctor Derek is still a mystery to me. He seems to care for her and yet is adamant about keeping her locked up tight. It is unknown if Deanna will follow the doctor’s advice or assert herself and set herself free. This is a delicate see saw that at some point is sure to break.

Mike

"I’m a friend of Mike’s.”

description

As isolated as Deanna has been, she has made a friend and confidant in tech guru Mike. Mike helps manage Deanna’s money and keeps her website security locked tight. It is evident that Mike has feelings for Deanna. In Do Not Disturb, his loyalty is tested.

The Nemesis

"We all live different lies."

The evil in this book is just as lethal as the darkness in the first book. Deanna falls prey to yet another violent individual. Is Deanna strong enough to overcome her addiction? Is she safe? Is he safe? Can she overcome evil once again and her sanity remain intact?

Somehow Jeremy keeps her grounded. For the first time in a long time she has an anchor to cling to. His love just might be enough to pull her out of the dark and into the light!

"This is all I need. This is stronger than my affliction, my dark needs. This is what is important. This love might be my salvation."

description

Do Not Disturb is a phenomenal piece of art. Ms. Torre once again offers shock and awe through her colorful writing and intense plot. The tenderness found between Jeremy and Deanna is such a stark contrast to Deanna’s inner turmoil. The combination leaves you swooning and hanging on tight throughout each page. The dual POV entrenches you deep into the setting. To know the thoughts and feelings of each character only increases your awareness of the love, danger, terror, and passion just waiting below the surface to break free. And now sadly, I must wait until November 2015 for the next book in the series. I will be waiting!

"In that moment, in that kiss, I choose to believe anything is possible. I choose to forget all of the horrible things that “anything” can include."

Many thanks to the ladies at Shh… [Smut, Heroes & HEAs…] with Alessandra for an amazing BR! It was so much fun!

I'm going to keep this short because I am struggling to write a half decent review. This was a great story, but I was a bit lost at times. I read book 1 ages ago, and although this is advertised as a standalone, I am not sure I agree.

This is primarily a suspense, with a psychopathic heroine and a normal ordinary man as the love interest. It is brilliantly written and it was definitely thrilling. Deanna, although completely mental, is a fantastic and complex character who I could read about all day.

I think perhaps reading this with book 1 fresh in your mind may be the best option, but still it was an enjoyable read nonetheless.

There are books that you read that will make you gasp with horror, those that will make you wonder and contemplate and those that will completely mess with your mind -Do Not Disturb falls into all three of those category. The genre is erotic suspense and it fulfills it to the fullest. I read The Girl in 6E and found it to be a fascinating read. So when I found out that The Girl in 6E, Deanna Madden, would have a follow-up book, I was super excited.

How does one sum up the genius of AR Torre? I'm not sure it's even a possible thing to do but let me try. AR Torre is a phenomenal story teller. She takes you on a magical journey, one where you're not sure of the outcome. Her words evoke the gambit of the emotions. They are raw, they are real, they are stimulating, they are intriguing, they are vile, they are beautiful and they are without a doubt literary genius.

This story is about a beautiful young woman, Deanna Madden- aka JessReilly19- who has self imposed herself into her apartment. She has dark thoughts, dark desires, killing is in her blood. But Deanna has left her apartment and was reminded what it was like to be normal. While what happened wasn't normal, being outside of the apartment, having Jeremy hold her and take care of her, those were normal things. But can you be normal and still have those desires to kill? Can finding someone who cares about you, help you, change you, or fix you?

 photo de9ce590e01b6b0ce9f0d6c68b9c7c7b_zpshdqrp8mz.jpg

This book has dark and light, despair and salvation, and good and evil all intertwining with each other. Deanna’s menacing thoughts are strong and dark and she works at keeping them at bay. But there is another evil force in this book. Marcus Renza comes into Deanna’s life and he is vicious and vile. But as with life, where there is evil, there is also goodness. There is Jeremy- the light to Deanna’s darkness. He knows that Deanna has many red flags that should make him run, but we don’t choose who we want and love in life, it chooses us. Then there is Mike, Deanna's IT man. For Deanna to exist and hide away, he is essential to her life. He is the man who knows everything about her, the one who holds her secrets and helps her. Without him, she could not be JessReilly19 or Deanna Madden. All these characters are instrumental to the story and the web that the author weaves is purely exceptional.

 photo 8255702f5929e19dc5c0306005b02ea3_zpsh1fidbxu.jpg

AR Torre took me on a fantastic journey. Her twists and turns were diabolical. The moment when I gasped and screamed...and then the next moment when I cried and screamed……Pure Wicked Genius. It’s a book that will grip you from the first page till the very last. And while I will not spoil- the very last line of the book is one of the most heartfelt lines of the whole book.

I can’t recommend this book enough- It’s not your millionaire alpha hero book but it is one that plays on your mind, makes you squirm and it makes you feel. I always say it’s good to read outside your box. Sometimes we are pleasantly surprised that we like and of course there are times that we don’t but I promise you that if you try this one, you will in fact be very pleasantly surprised. The words and the storytelling of AR Torre are incredible, irresistible, and something that you shouldn't miss.

Type: Standalone Book 2 of Deanna Madden series
POV: Shifting - Multiple

ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

After being confined in her home for 3 years to protect others from her killer instinct, Deanna Madden had a brief stint in the open world. Now that she had a little taste (of freedom and blood), she craved for more. But venturing out was a tricky business because it would not only endanger others, but also her own self.

It’s been a long time since I last awarded a book the full 5 stars but this book definitely deserved every single red feather. Do Not Disturb was a fast paced, equally erotic and bloody thriller that took me on a wild exciting ride.

The book started 2 weeks after the end of the first book. After being out in the open, Deanna craved more freedom. She started to re-learn the joy of doing something as simple as looking out at the stars while still being the same cam girl with deadly urges.

The first time Jeremy came by after work, he couldn’t focus, his eyes tripping over my naked form, heels still on. He, in as few words as possible, politely told me to put some clothes on before he ate me alive.

I love how Jeremy, even though he didn’t know much about her, helped her re-acquainted with normalcy, like putting on clothes. One of my favorite scenes was her venture into the gas station store. The whole time I was thinking how proud I was of her to take the steps but at the same time I also wanted her to snap. Even simple thing like that made the readers hold on to the edge of their seat!

In this book, Deanna faced a much tougher adversary. The villain was very organized with unlimited means to get to his goal. He didn’t even need to dirty his hand. But for his latest “adventure” he was willing to do so because he felt challenged and he had the upper hand.

I definitely love this book better than the first one. This one had a lot more romance without it being fluffy which is very important because this is not a romance book.

“Can you rip his head off for me? Start pushing at his forehead until it snaps the fuck off? Yank in and rip out tendril after tendril of veins and organs until he is a hot dripping mess of blood?”

This one was also a lot bloodier and graphic – both in term of her imaginations and the actual scenes. I absolutely love being in her head, exploring the dark thoughts and the possible scenarios.

Women love the hacker angle. It makes a normal guy seem dangerous, connected. Makes them think he can, with a few strokes of deft fingers, accomplish anything he wants to.

Mike has always been my favorite since the first book and his major role in this book made me deliriously happy like how Deanna would feel when she got the opportunity to kill – getting all turned on with dark thoughts swirling… haha!

He is my enabler, my protector, my partner in crime.

I love seeing Mike and Deanna’s friendship. He was one of the very few people who she could call a friend, and the one who knew the most about who/what she really was.

It turned out Mike had a lot more in common with Deanna, and he had his own secrets to keep. We got to learn some of them, but there were still things I NEED to know about him and I’m wishing we’ll get that in the next book.

Overall, I’m very happy with this book with how each of the characters evolved. I’m looking forward to the next book, If You Dare.

Note #1:
The Deanna Madden series is a standalone series. Each book is a standalone story but you will need prior knowledge from previous book to fully experience this book.

Note #2:

Part two on my journey with Deanna, and she did not disappoint. Like the girl in 6E she is still a camgirl and still having very murdery thoughts. I love how someone always has to fuck around and find out with her, and I do so love when they find out. I can't wait for the last installment in a mere 20 weeks when my library hold comes in! 4.5⭐ rated up.

Wow, this was kind of terrible.

The first one had its fair share of issues, but it was incredibly enjoyable. But this one made me feel SO uncomfortable. In terms of plot, it was basically a complete repeat of the The Girl in 6E. What was interesting at first because it was new and quite daring, felt washed-out and lacklustre here.

I hated the romance. Jeremy is such a boring, nondescript love interest with absolutely no backbone or character. It was also one of those scenarios where the characters mistake love with lust and it made me cringe so badly. Actions have no consequences, the mental health aspect was treated horribly in my opinion and instead of diving deeper into Deanna's psyche, I kept having to wade through her same old repetitive thoughts.

Also, this book really made me notice how sexual all of A.R. Torre's descriptions are. Everyday tasks like buying a car, brewing a cup of tea and making the bed are overly sexualised with tasteless metaphors and though this can be expected from the Erotica genre, I couldn't stand it after a while.

A classic case of a story that shouldn't have been dragged out into a series. I'm disappointed. I recommend you pick up The Girl in 6E and leave it at that.

Deanna Madden is back in this titillating sequel to THE GIRL IN 6E. After the events in the first book, Deanna (aka Jess) is still making her money as a camgirl and still has the urge to kill. What’s changed is that she now has a few reasons to leave her apartment. Each time she does this, it tests her resolve to keep her murderous urges under control. When a killer and rapist on house arrest becomes infatuated with Deanna and their cyber sex, he starts planning to pay her a visit when she refuses to fly out and meet him. What he doesn’t know is that his urges might not overpower hers.

I loved delving deeper into the world of Deanna and the few individuals who are in her life. This book has amazing character development for an “erotic” thriller. It starts out a tad bit slower than I anticipated, but quickly gains the momentum and suspense of the first novel in the series. I was hooked! I’m looking forward to starting the last book in the trilogy very soon. If you haven’t read anything by this author yet (who also goes by Alessandra Torre), you should probably get on that!

4.5 stars.

This book, oh this book, had me with my heart in my throat almost all the time. I really, really liked the action, the hunt, but most of all, Deanna.
Deanna starts pushing her limits, trying to be and feel normal again. She had a few slips, but managed to control herself.
Jeremy is really sweet and very patient. He will take whatever Deanna will give him, and he absolutely adores her.
Loved it, loved it, loved it.

curiousreviewer22: I am so glad we have the opportunity to talk. You know, I am interested in the girl behind the camera, right?

pseudojessica: Yes, I understand you want to learn more about the real me. I wouldn’t normally discuss my private life with anyone, but it is probably time to do so. And, maybe my story will help others.

curiousreviewer22: How are you going control the blackness in your mind? You can’t stay locked in your apartment forever?

pseudojessica: I do know that the blackness is too big to control, but I have to hope I can overcome.

curiousreviewer22: Do you consider yourself a vigilante or a cold-blooded killer?

pseudojessica: The desire to kill is in my DNA. I would say society is better off without the men I’ve killed. They were monsters that had to be put down.

curiousreviewer22: Are you certain you are not a monster?

pseudojessica: I don’t know. I have such dark thoughts about killing and blood. But, I’m trying to become a whole person again. Plus, I don’t want to hurt Jeremy or other people.

curiousreviewer22: Do you think you can have a real relationship with Jeremy?

pseudojessica: I do love him, at least, as much as I can love anyone. He is kind and he gives me hope. He is also so sexy. But, he still doesn’t know the true me. Once he discovers what I’ve done, I’m afraid he is going to hate me.

curiousreviewer22: What will happen between you and Mike?

pseudojessica: I have a lot of mixed feelings about Mike right now. He has been one of my only friends that I could trust for so long. But, I’m also so mad at him for blabbing. I am hopeful we can work it out.

curiousreviewer22: Are you going to continue webcamming?

pseudojessica: I think so, but I don’t know how long Jeremy will want to share me in that way. We’ll see. Plus, I don't know how he is going to react to the truth about me.

curiousreviewer22: Are you hopeful?

pseudojessica: Hope. That's all I have right now.

Do Not Disturb is a cam girl sexy, steamily steameous, ardently arousing, pant stirring Knicker dampening, barrel of psychotic madness with one of the most exhilarating and enslaving female characters around.

Damn this is hot, sign me up I think I'm in love *fanning furiously*. Fuck the story I'll just listen to the voice of the narrator, the voice of Deanne Maddon.

Do Not Disturb is the second book in the Deanne Madden series and is just as, if not more erotically charged and psychologically damaging than The Girl in 6E.

Deanne is starting to venture outside, dinner with Jeremy.

'It is, quite possibly, the strangest first date in history. But I behaved. I gripped my steak knife tightly and avoided putting it through his skin.'

What to have, everything has been a diet of boxed meals, for ever it seems.

"And green beans.”
Her mouth twists in a grimace of sorts.
“Please,” I add.
Please.
Please let me stand over your body and watch you die. I’ll add a pretty please if you promise to bleed heavily. '

The first person point of view is superb, hearing the twisted thoughts of Deanne through *who is the narrator, back in a sec* the voice of Jorjeana Marie (I'm gonna search out more from her) was darkly funny in places, hot hot hot in others and the icing on the cake, some disturbingly brutal bloodshed. You have to laugh at her inner thoughts of murderous intent when interacting with anyone she meets.

The story was ok, to be honest the bad guy was never really that bad, there was a bit of work put in to make him seem like a monster but as things transpire, well he wasn't really that evil, the threat never materialized and was dealt with maybe a little too easily. But that's small fries in your zinger tower box meal, didn't matter, to me anyway. And it did make for a great ending.

The audio is absolutely perfect, the narrator has the perfect voice for Deanne, did I mention that already, can't remember but she is, it has to be said. The only female character I can remember being as dangerously enjoyable as Deanne was Miriam Black from the Chuck Wendig series.

Can you really go wrong with a cam girl that deals in sex and thinks of killing all the time?
Looking forward to the next outing with Deanne Madden and Jorjeana Marie (hopefully anyway) and I’m off with a box of tissues to listen to the bits I bookmarked.

5* for the narration and character/ 3* for the story, averaging out at 4*

3.5 stars. Unlike with book one my 3.5 will be rated down, not up.

K to start I'm doing this while I'm pretty sure I'm high on NyQuil so I'll edit this tomorrow to make sure there's a bit of sanity in here. Seems alright.

And as another warning, I had a lot of problems but there's a lot of good in this. I'll likely talk about the problems more but that doesn't mean this book is the worst.

So despite the fact that I rounded this down when I rounded the first up, I preferred the second book to the first. I think this one is more exciting, more energetic, more addicting, and I enjoyed that all the relationships are established. But those things also are what caused the majority of my problems.

The romance in this is problem number one. And my biggest problem. It is extremely insta love. Now insta love in erotic fiction is nothing new but this was insane. The I love yous made no sense. They knew nothing about one another but they loved each other. I think that these two characters confused lust and love and it made no sense.

Now Mike is arguably the best character in this book. We got to know him more and his backstory. But the way the main character treats him I can't deal with. He is so loyal to her, he's done everything for her, and one little moment of weakness and it's all over. His lack of ending is something I hope is covered in book 3 because I do not enjoy the way this left off. It left a bad taste in my mouth for the main character who i liked but now don't respect at all.

The mystery aspect is where this is at. Well it's more the thriller aspect I guess. I enjoyed this villain. I enjoyed how messed up he was and I liked that part. It was very exciting and made this book hard to put down once things started rolling. But, damn it's anti climactic. I wanted some huge grand finale. We got like half a paragraph at best. I was so disappointed. There was so much potential for this amazing ending and we got a mini conclusion to this plot so we could focus on mike and the romance. So I'm hoping for some sort of redemption for that in book 3.

So I mean overall it's enjoyable. It really is. But the romance is extremely unbelievable and therefore taints a bit of the book. But it's still a thrilling series and I do look forward to book 3. I just hope there's more Mike. There better be some Mike.

4.5 "Disturbing Justice" Stars! Perhaps psychologically the darkest story I have ever read. Creative beyond belief, but deeply disturbing. This book will take you into the twisted and distorted mind of a killer and a rapist. I literally had to pause reading this story at a number of crucial points, because I was just that affected. So please heed the warning. This book is not for everyone; but if you value originality in your romances and have an open mind, then I guarantee this will be one of the most mind blowing tales you could ever read.

As a starter, I think it is worth noting that this is book 2 in the Deanna Madden series. To fully appreciate this series, and the complicated nature of the couple's relationship, as well as the full extent of the heroine's psychosis and dark past, it is really essential that you read The Girl in 6E first. Accordingly, this review may contain spoilers for Book 1.

Do Not Disturb picks up pretty much where The Girl in 6E leaves off. Now that Deanna has ventured out again to the outside world, she is faced with a strange sensation: cravings for freedom. During her three-year self-imposed confinement to her apartment, she pretty much became acclimated to her unusual existence. Surviving, by working as a "cam girl", who for $6.99 a minute, caters vanilla and sexual fetishes alike. Surviving by having her basic needs, from toilet paper to meals, ordered online and delivered to her door. But having tasted freedom, and behaved for the most part, she can't help but wonder just how far she can tow the line before her homicidal urges become a real threat (at least to undeserving individuals). Further complicating matters, is her budding relationship with Jeremy, her enabler, the UPS man who delivers all of her packages thereby enabling her reclusive existence.

As we learned in The Girl in 6E, interestingly when Jeremy is around, the feelings of love and desire that he conjures up may well be the only emotions strong enough to subdue her grim fascination with killing. Tempted though she might be to bask in the liberating feelings he unleashes, she remains equally terrified of hurting Jeremy. Moreover, Deanna remains convinced that should Jeremy truly have an unobstructed view into the dark recesses of her twisted and demented mind, there is no way he would be able to resist the tempting allure of fear that should keep him well at bay.

Nonetheless, Deanna and Jeremy begin testing the bounds of just how far the healing effects of their relationship may allow Deanna and Jeremy to experience normalcy as a couple. Just as Deanna is beginning to make some progress, however, another sexual deviant sets his sites on "camgirl" Deanna. And this man will not take "no" or be deterred no matter how drastically Deanna attempts to "block" his attempts. But in this fight of the depraved, just who will end up being the hunted and hunter? Will all those hours of fantasizing about killing be enough to keep herself and those she loves safe?

What a sadistic journey! Be prepared to be taken to the edge of your comfort zone! Do Not Disturb will take you to a world where twisted desires and fears, and life altering unfortunate events, will lead you to question just what is just, merited and ultimately acceptable when survival, and the protection and vindication of those that we love is at stake. Is passion and love omnipotent in its fight against extreme darkness? Romantic suspense and thriller lovers, craving an original read, will not want to miss the Deanna Madden Series!

This book, you guys! Talk about one messed up read. Guess what, though? I enjoyed it more than the first book, The Girl in 6E. I know, I know. You’re not supposed to like a sociopath like Deanna, but tell it to my foolish heart because I loved every inch of this complicated, dangerous, unstable bad ass woman.

You really do need to read the first book before this one. If you haven’t, stop reading this review because spoilers are bad. Mm-kay?

The last book saw Deanna venturing outside of her apartment for the first time in three years. That brief taste of freedom makes her question the necessity of her self-imposed prison. But has her thirst for blood truly been quenched?

She’s still a highly sought after cam girl. She has a somewhat normal romantic relationship with Jeremy, the UPS guy, and a friendship—albeit an odd one—with Mike, a client who also happens to be a cyber genius. I’m so glad we get to know Mike better because he is one truly fascinating supporting character.

Just as Deanna is trying to get a handle on her fluctuating emotions, she finds herself in a hell of a pickle that kicks the thrill of suspense up several notches. This story is engrossing and sometimes disturbing, but virtually impossible to put down. I guess it’s time to move on to book three, If You Dare.

Before diving into reading this story, I was actually mulling for days of what I expect from Deanna in this sequel. Or the ‘what ifs’ and the possibilities of what the struggle might be, of the characters that I’ve come to love, my admiration of Mike’s abilities, my infatuation of Dr. D’s voice, and of Jeremy’s relationship with Deanna. But then, nah. I’d stop being giddy and excited. I will not read this book and analyze clinically every twist and turns. I will dive in with no expectations. I’ll just immersed myself with the story and that life of the girl in 6E.

Roll VTR. The events becomes a movie in my head.

One thing that I didn't actually expected is of Deanna wanting something else that is so totally out of the blue. Or a problem aside from her demon self. And I never expected her of humor, not of the gory type.
“Being born without a penis.”

AT never disappoints. I thought that with what happen in The Girl in 6E, Deanna may be a little less bloodthirsty. But no, she is the girl that captured me and never cease to amaze me with her gory fantasies and violent ways.

I’m a fight over flight girl. I see RUN, and I think WAR.

There were only few scenes of Deanna and Jeremy’s relationship and I guess it was just perfect. It makes me crave more for them to have more, to know more of Jeremy’s feelings and thoughts. To know him as person. And yes, for wanting it to happen, for Deanna to give in to her sexual desires. And hating some of Deanna’s insensitivity, for hurting Jeremy’s feelings, and love her again for her thirst of blood. I was teary eyed and hurt, but all the more I fell in love with Jeremy. My favorite part? But, of course! Their first date. It’s quite possibly the strangest first date in history.
“I’m not gonna let you hurt me.”
“Don’t be so sure you can stop me.”
“Can you be naked again the next time you try? I enjoyed that.”

Hello normal, I am Deanna. Nice to make your acquaintance.

Quite possibly the shock of all the shock for me is Mike. I may have wanted to kill you of what you have done, but no matter, I still admire you. I have develop a soft spot for you and my heart aches for you. Yeah, I wish for a HEA for Mike.
HackOffMyBigCock, fellow college student. Loves working out, football, and lap dances. Dabbles in hacking when he isn’t being the big man on campus.
We all live different lies.

Deanna is still compulsive and some issues were just to get a rise from Dr. Derek. I’m still curious about him. And, yes, when I think of him, I imagine Gandy. Oh yeah.
Refrain from any sexual activity?
Bitch, please.

I’m #TeamJeremy all the way, even from The Girl in 6E. How Jeremy could love Deanna or Deanna could fall for Jeremy? The answer maybe beyond me, but I know and I felt the connection in there.
We love them for their unique ability to tug at our soul, to connect to us in a way that no other person can.

In this moment, I give him my soul. And he takes away the death and fills me with life.

The plot, was just amazing for me. There are some bits and pieces of some information that are too short to make sense of how it is connected but just enough to be understand. Those were actually what had held my attention. The climax? Nothing that I have expected. It will make you to not put the book down because of its intensity and will make your heart race or stop beating for a while. The suspense is exhilarating! I just had curse and scream internally and freak out. Ohshitohshit whatthefuckwhatthefuck. What. The. Fuck. Seriously?! Okay, I’m excited for more.

★★★★½
Do Not Disturb is the second installment in A.R. Torre's (Alessandra Torre) dark/erotic thriller series titled: Deanna Madden. The first book in this series totally hooked me and I was excited to see this second one within my easy reach. Hurray for the public library!!!

Do Not Disturb is no filler sequel! It is its very own story. There is a solid romance, a scary villain, and of course the whole bottle of awesome sauce: Deanna Madden. Watching Deanna and Jeremy's romance slowly blossom was sweet and very sexy, some parts had me promptly running out to the store for a Snickers ice-cream bar and Dr. Pepper and taking a break to google tons of Jaguar F-type S images (swoon), and then I shifted to the freakin' edge of my seat when the thriller part kicked into full gear. I was glued and my stomach was a complete mess but it was great! Deanna truly loves getting her hands bloody and I'm over here like...

Ok I'm convinced AT is just a master storyteller! Just when I thought "What else could happen??" I'm whacked in the head with this intense, suspenseful, unbelievable story!

Deanna Madden, gosh what can I say about her. I want to hold and coddle her and tell her everything will be alright, but at the same time I'm freaked out by her.

Awesome story!
