From New York Times Bestselling Author, Kristen Proby, comes Spells, the next installment in her gripping Bayou Magic series…

As a powerful hedgewitch and psychic, there isn’t much I can’t work to my advantage and finesse with a spell. Love, fortune, and even the perfect cup of coffee are all possible with the snap of my fingers.

But some things are utterly beyond my control.

Like the powerful and broody warlock who’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember—and even the lifetimes I often can’t. Things almost as dangerous as Lucien Bergeron’s hold on me and the breathtaking smiles only I get to see.

Or the evil still stalking the streets of New Orleans that beckons to me to see. To feel. To die.

With everything riding on a razors-edge, and things that have been portended coming to fruition, threatening both me and those I love, I’m not sure if I’m strong enough to resist my fate. Or his charm.

If I work with Lucien, it could mean the end for both of us.

If I don’t, those I love most will pay.

These are freaking addictive. And oddly enough, a comfort type of read? Lmao. Even though there’s a serial killer on the loose.

I was just as hooked into the story as we continue in book two as I was in book one. Which is pretty uncommon these days. I find myself falling victim to second book syndrome more and more these days. Maybe that's a good reason to go digging in the depths of the tbr from time to time?

Anyway, we pick up right where we left off in book one but this time from Millie's POV. She's a psychic and a hedge witch who is now the focal point of a serial killer. Danger is quite literally lurking behind every shadow and darkened corner.

Our MMC ✨ LUCIEN ✨ is a warlock who has lived multiple lives that are intertwined with Millie. These two are couple goals! I'm talking about non toxic, full green flags flying, support you no matter what, let's *communicate* and never keep secrets from each other - our magic is stronger when we're together type of relationship.

Again, not a perfect book - the dialogue comes across a little campy sometimes? That might not even be it, trying to put my finger on it. The sisters definitely come across a little quirky and small townish from time to time, it's not a bad thing at all. It just makes for a not as fleshed out character.

I think the thing to keep in mind though, is that these books are on average 300 pages. They're fun, fast paced, a little chilling, the sisters despite what they're going through are good natured and light hearted. They have a good amount of humor, good times, fierce loyalty and love.

The romance in this one - ugh. I loved it so much. Lucien is so tender and sweet with Millie. The way he magics away her pain when a headache starts to come on and takes it on himself. The way he heals all her little scrapes and cuts. 🥹 So doting and attentive. I just love it.

Highly recommend if you're looking for anything listed below- perfectly fit into a reasonable length novel.

✎𓂃 “There is no magic more powerful than that between two souls linked by unconditional love, a stór mo chroí.”

I am seriously enjoying this series so much!! I can’t seem to put them down! The romance, the mystery, the spooks–everything is working together to keep me invested in the story.

☆What to Expect:
We’re back in magical NOLA with our fav psychic sister trio just trying to live their damn lives, when a ghost from their past decides he isn’t quite done with his evil master plan. Book two of Bayou Magic focuses on Millie, the middle sister hedgewitch who keeps receiving glimpses of her past lives. And in every lifetime, she lived being loved unconditionally by Lucien. With the ghost enacting his serial killer ways, it’s up to Millie and Lucien, along with their family, to uncover the mystery and save everyone before it’s too late.

☆My Thoughts:
Book 2 was such a fun ride! Heather said it best in that this series is v much a comfort read (obviously minus the gruesome serial killer aspects 😅), but the charm and chemistry of the characters, the romance, and the setting make it extremely enchanting ✨

Lucien 🔥😮‍💨 WOW there is a new standard, fellas. He has memory of all his past lives with Millie, and in every life he finds her, protects her, loves her wholeheartedly. He essentially exists to fall in love with her, and I truly see no better purpose in life lol.

✎𓂃“I’ve never moved so slowly with you in all of my lives. But this is another time, another place, and I’ll go at whatever pace you want, as long as you understand that you’re mine, a stór mo chroí.”

^That term of endearment basically means “my heart’s treasure” ❣️

While this man took over my heart, I don’t know that I loved their relationship more than Brielle and Cash in book 1. I had wanted more details into the couples’ past lives, as the sisters and their partners are destined for each other in every lifetime. Book 1 didn’t dive into this aspect, but due to their powers, Lucien and Millie are more in tune with the memories of their past lives. It became extremely confusing to me, especially when they started talking about their descendants, and I felt it detracted from their present day relationship.

The dialogue once again felt a bit over-the-top–something I experienced in Spells. It felt maybe even more so here? Some of the phrasing seemed less natural in a modern conversation, but I do feel other aspects of the book makes up for this.

This book also lacked some of the magical NOLA spark I loved in its predecessor. Brielle being a haunted tour guide was such a fun part of the storyline, which I sorely missed in this installment. However, the spooks were VERY much still there, as evidenced by me needing to put the book down at night to avoid any nightmares 👻😂😱 I also LOVED the addition of Millie's feline familiar Sanguine 🐈‍⬛

My body is so ready to dive into book 3 with Heather!!! Daphne and Jackson, here we come!! 👯

Spells is book 2 in the Bayou Magic trilogy that is set in New Orleans and revolves around 3 sisters with supernatural powers. Spells focuses on the Millie, an active witch and psychic and her forever love, Lucien.

Even though this is a strong 4 star read, I liked book 1 a little more and I’m not sure why. I adored Millie and Lucien together. Lucien is definitely swoon worthy and his love for Millie is heart melting and never ending. It was fun catching up with the sister’s and their Mom is becoming important in the story. Once again, Horace is up to no good and is still a lunatic that honestly freaks me out.

Great read, maybe a little gory at times. Now I have to wait another year for book 3, which is Daphne’s story and I know Horace will bring the creep factor.

I was very disappointed with this book.

The romance is instant love and as such, I couldn't get invested because we don't get to see their relationship move towards that love. The circumstances behind their relationship might be interesting and as such an improvement from the first book, but the potentiality of it is wasted. The "love story" is already there, it is not one that we see happen and feel with the characters, their love for each other is stablished and accepted immediately.

The fantasy plot is a water down carbon copy of the first book. Extremely disappointing, underdeveloped and uninteresting. There is no mystery, we already know that narrative from the first installment, and we got it better then. The conclusion is again anticlimactic and weak. The whole thing was pointless, superficial, repetitive and boring.

This book feels lacy.
I don't recommend this book and now I have my doubts about reading the third installment when it comes out.

Favorite Quotes:

Why can’t we be a normal couple? … Just a normal, run-of-the-mill couple, who likes to have sex all the time and watch old eighties movies.

“I love you. No matter what you look like, or what you eat, I love you. I always have. So, eat your sweets. I don’t care.” “If I could find a way to clone and sell you, I could be richer than that dude who owns Amazon. You’re exactly the guy that every woman is looking for.”

My Review:

Paranormal is not my typical jam so I had to work a bit harder to keep up with this one. Groundhog Day hooked up with The Witches and Practical Magic in this complicated, intriguing, gruesome, creative, and eerie tale. While there was no naked dancing in the moonlight, Words of Power were spoken, spells were chanted, potions were brewed, covens convened, possessed souls were expelled, and amusing observations and an epic love story spanning a thousand years were woven in amongst several rather heinous murders.

But wait, the series isn't done yet as there is still one sister to go and I’m not totally convinced the depraved villain was completely dispatched. I am thoroughly enamored with Lucien as he is the ultimate BBF - sexy, thoughtful, intelligent, romantic, highly skilled in every room, oh yes! And he can create snap his fingers and create fire, which is an exceptionally handy and convenient little trick, as I can never seem to find matches when I need them.

3.5 , rounding up to 4

Is is not a standalone. You need to read book 1 to understand the backstory of this book.

Once again, the girls are together trying conquer the evil spirits. There's not much difference between the first story and this book. Creepy Horace, his nasty deeds and his ability to manipulate people and create havoc is still a major part of the story.

What is diferent in this story is that there is much more focus on the love story between Lucien and Millie. I adored this couple and especially Lucien (you might notice I added him to my book boyfriend shelf ❤️). They've loved each other for lifetimes and my heart broke a little for them for all they endured through the ages. I was big time rooting for them to actually make it this time. Their love was strong and solid and if weren't for the pesky evil spirits they would no doubt have a very HEA. They gained strength from their connection and their bond was one of the strongest I think I've ever felt. They needed to be together. They knew it. The reader knew it. The evil spirit knew it......hence the battle. It really was beautiful watching them fall in love again and finding that everlasting connection.

There was a good twist around the 85% mark. As for Horace, once again I thought his cruelty was over the top. I honestly skipped some of his gruesome scenes. It would have been much creepier (IMO) if he was more "supernaturally" targeting the couple rather than mutilating people. That aspect of the story just keeps this out of the "scary" realm because it is just gory, not goosebump scary.

I thought the showdown with good vs evil was a bit anticlimactic. it certainly was over pretty quickly.

Like the other book, it's an enjoyable read but it didn't blow my socks off.

Trigger: serial killer with some pretty graphic details
No cheating, No OW/OM drama
Steam factor: kind of low. The story is more about their love story through the ages rather than what happens between the sheets.

5 “a stór mo chroí” stars!

“It was no accident, me finding you. Someone had a hand in it. Long before we ever knew..” That song, “Keeper of the stars” remind me of Lucien & Millie, and their love that spans hundreds of years. I want more stories like this of one love that keeps finding its way back to each other in different lifetimes. Swoon!

This book was so creepy. Just what I needed this spooky season, and I definitely don’t want to wait a whole year for book three!

Witches, Warlocks, covens and blood magic! What is this sorcery. If you want something different than your contemporary romance genre, then this paranormal romance is for you.

KP is such a wonderful writer!!

Spells
Bayou Magic #2
By: Kristen Proby

REVIEW ☆☆☆☆

I loved Shadows, so it was no surprise that I equally enjoyed Spells, the second book in Kristen Proby's Bayou Magic series. And, now, I have freaking CCR ( love them!) "Born On The Bayou" stuck in my head!

Three witch sisters. Three different stories with commonalities. This book is the story of Lucien and Millie. Lucien is a warlock. Millie dabbles in coffee. Lol! Spells is intriguing in that the main aspects of the story are so contradictory to each other. On one hand, a serial killer is running wild and free. On the other hand, there is an amazing and romantic love story for the ages. See what I mean? I don't want to give anything away, so I won't go into details. Suffice it to say, Lucien and Millie are involved in this situation.

The setting and the atmosphere of Spells is perfect with a gritty, dark, lurking in the shadows vibe. It feels gothic and Victorian and like a bit of southern folklore. Whatever you call it, it works. Lucien and Millie are characters I like individually and together. They are quirky, engaging, complex and likeable. More of their story would be great.
As paranormal stories go, Kristen Proby has created a compelling mystery with enchanting characters to root for--all in a magical place that beckons readers to come in, and stay for a spell. Or two. Pick up Spells today!

4.5 ‘Our Souls Are Linked

Awwww... Who knew a PNR read could make my romantic heart soar to such heights?! SPELLS indeed bewitched me with the best of my favorite trope, fated soulmates, in a way I soaked it up in one sitting. Millie and Lucien - omg, THE best book boyfriend, right here - enchanted me in a way, that even through the suspense and masterfully written creepy moments, I had a warm happy feeling in my heart! Loved it! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I enjoyed the first book in this series, Shadows. Spells picks up after Shadows, so you must read these books in order. Each book is about one sister, however the main story is intertwined throughout each book.

While I enjoyed Spells, I did not find myself as captivated by this story as I did with the first one. This one felt as the though the romance more pronounced and the paranormal aspects took a backseat to it. I know a lot of Proby's readers will love this one, but a paranormal reader may not as much.

I enjoyed the backstory of both Lucien and Millie and how it all ties into where they are today. I found that very interesting and it kept me slightly intrigued in the story but not as much as I was hoping for. I felt as though the mystery part was sort of thrown together to add another layer in the story but (for me) it was easy to see who it was and the ending left me feeling sort of humdrum. The first book was very engaging and intense where as this one, felt it took the same idea and just replaced the sister. And I get why – it just felt repetitive to me.

Overall, Proby's romance fans will enjoy this book a lot. Any one who is a paranormal fan, will find it lacking and not as exciting as the first book. Proby is a great writer in the romance realm and her attempt outside that genre deservers applauding. I personally, was just hoping for a different angle in this book and that's probably why it wasn't as exciting as the first. But I still enjoyed it.

We shall see what she does in the next book!

Once again Kristen has delivered a read that's spine-chilling, blood-curdling and goosebump inducing from the evil lurking page after page of this captivating read.

Be prepared...... once you start reading you won't be able to stop because it will intrigue you with the story, enchant you with the characters and seduce you with the love story that unfolds between Millie and Lucien.

If you thought Shadows was creepy, menacing and shocking you haven't seen anything yet; in fact, you may not want to read this one in the dark (evil laughs)!

2.5-3 stars. I really enjoyed book 1 of this series. But this one just wasn’t a hit for me. I liked the characters but the book didn’t hold my attention and I felt overall dissatisfied at the end. I’m sure I’ll still read the final book but this was just meh for me.

Kristen Proby brings in all the stops for Halloween with 'Spells' - a book about some latent evil bring that goes around tormenting 3 paranormally-gifted sisters, all of whom find their HEA whilst battling the forces threatening to upend their lives.

But if I was intrigued by Proby's 'Shadows', the first book in the series, 'Spells' fell somewhat flat even though it's a continuation of a narrative that walked the same line about the supernatural being well and alive among us.

There's the seductive idea of Millie and Lucien being partners in the numerous past-lives that they've ever lived, but it was never explored fully; instead, this was a side point that was shunted away in favour of trying to counter the evil Horace who seems to have an unexplained hatred for all of them.

From avoiding Lucien her whole life, Millie suddenly decided that he was the one for her...and off their story went. What were the intricacies of Millie/Lucien always finding each other in every lifetime? How did they find each other? Was there a reason behind it? And on and on the questions went...and I was disappointed that this pairing was too easily set in stone without the more detailed take on the rich idea of past-lives, say in a book like Jude Devereaux's 'Remembrance'.

The unexplainable takes precedence here; there are however, too many loose ends and cryptic sayings that I thought 'Spells' left hanging, even though there is the final book to come a year later, presumably for the next Halloween season.

I didn't enjoyed the first book but i wanted to try the second one because i was hopeful. I tried to read it without judgement... At first it kinda worked but i was quickly disappointed.
Usually, books when they are a sequel, have a little reminder in the first few chapters. Some books do it too much but in this one there's nothing, not one sentence on the bad guy for example. It took me a bit of time to remember everything which didn't help staying into the story... even a sentence would've helped ...
In the first book i felt like the love story happened in 2 min, it was the same here and i think that's when i decided to stop the torture.
I read the last chapter out of curiosity and i confirmed my guess, a lot was very predictable.
When i finished the first book i remember being a bit curious for the second book, this time i'm not at all interested in the third one, even with reading the last chapter and epilogue.

I think there is potential in these series but the contrast between sugary sweet / horror is not well done, the story is predictable and the love story almost not existing.

Creepy Magical Goodness!

What a great second installment of the Bayou Magic series!

This book picks up around a year after the first book, Shadows. These books should be read in order! I cannot wait until October 2021, to get my grabby hands on the last book! Each book is based on a different sister, but the underlying arc of the three books is what ties them all together.

While this book is beyond creepy and a bit gory, there are these wonderful moments of lightness and laughter between these three sisters and their loved ones. Their love for Halloween had me smiling, especially their costumes and personas.

Lucien and Millie have been tied to each other for centuries. This gives a whole new meaning to fate, and the powers they have to control it.

Until recently, I've never been much of a paranormal fan, but Kristen Proby has absolutely revolutionized the genre for me. She blew me away with Shadows and now with Spells, she masterfully crafts an intricate thriller, where our serial killer is still on the loose and is set on exacting his revenge.

Her tale of witchcraft & wizardry will cast a magical spell on you, keeping you hanging on to every word to see if the ever-present evil lurking about will finally reveal itself. And if that weren't enough, the tale of a love so true - souls that have been bound to one another through the millenia- will totally melt your heart.

“I remember each time we met and fell in love and got married. I remember our children, when they were born and how it felt to hold them. I remember making love to you. We’ve shared so much good over the millennia we’ve been linked, Millie. I’m glad I remember it.”

Lucien and Millie were born for one another and will absolutely have you believing in soul mates. I loved that they were stronger together and they were just so in tune with one another. I've fallen so hard for these three sisters, I feel invested in their fight and cannot wait until the six are together to defeat all odds. 💜🖤

So when KP announced she was going to write a PN romance series, I was a little worried because PN romance is not generally my thing. But, it’s KP, so I HAD to read it. Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit! She KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK! Like, I’m itching to read it again! (And I’ve read it twice now.)

Add a murder mystery; deranged serial killer; three witch sisters; a dark magic, “dead” father; along with her epic romance stories, and then set all of this in New Orleans, where paranormal things tend to abound, and you get a freaking masterpiece! Not to mention, the epic timing of the release of this book is perfect! Spells is nothing short of amazing (and I thought I was impressed with Shadows). I can’t wait to read the next story! I, officially, have something to look forward to for next Halloween!

Spells is the second book in the Bayou Magic series by Kristen Proby. It can be read as standalone but I highly recommend reading Shadows so you have the complete story. Three sister witches. One evil being. Brielle found her love and now it’s time for Millie to give into hers. A man who is her soul mate.

Lucien and Millie have known each other for years. She started seeing him in her dreams and nightmares since childhood. Then, she saw him a decade ago in real life. From that moment she felt something between them and since then she has put up her walls. Magically and emotionally. She has enough going on in her life. He should be easy to stay away from but he has other plans. Lucien won’t push but he knows they are soul mates and have been over many lifetimes. And, now his stubborn Millicent needs to believe it. He knew something dark was coming and they need their powers, together to fight. To survive in this lifetime.

I can’t really say more than that. I can say that this is the perfect Halloween read. I am a Halloween baby so I love books like this. Witches. Evilness. Spells. This has it all and more. Family. These sisters are the best. They each bring something to the table. Magically and in support.

Overall, it’s full of witchy goodness, family, love, suspense, and brew. I can’t wait for the next book! I love that Proby releases right around Halloween. 🎃🕸🕷

Quotes:

“Stop reading my mind. I didn’t give you permission to do that.”
“Meow.”
“You’re new here,” I say, pointing to Sanguine. “You don’t get an opinion.”
“I can’t read you, and you know it,” Lucien replies. “And it’s damn frustrating.”

“I’m an air sign, you know,” I say.
“Oh, I’m aware. Our connection affects the energy around us. Electricity is energy. We might blow a fuse or two tonight.”
“Fun.”

“I wonder what it’s like,” I murmur as my lips trail down her neck, “to have sex in a library.”
“I think we’re about to find out.”

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

4.5*s of paranormal frights and romance!

This is the second book in the series, and I would definitely suggest that they need reading in order, as this is an ongoing story involving three very interesting and talented sisters. In this story, Millie is the focus, but Brielle and Daphne are key to the whole plot, so they get plenty of attention too.

Before I say more, and I have no intention of revealing anything very much ... I am a big baby when it comes to scary, but even knowing that Kristen Proby has (at least) another book to write in the series, so nothing truly, truly awful can happen, I found myself having to put it down and have a quick deep breath or two before diving straight back in ... repeatedly! The tension is so effectively built up, and Horace is truly evil, and yet we then get the MOST beautiful, off the scales romantic interludes with Millie and Lucien. Really just so totally lovely, and then the level of perfect is ramped up even further. Yum, yum, yum!

Perfect Halloween reading, but really any day this will give you a wonderful way to escape from the everyday; thank you Kristen Proby for another hit!

I have been a Kristen Proby fan for years, but this series has me captivated. Put me in a story with witches and evil bad guys, lots of romance and set it in NOLA, please. I am here for it. Spells is the second in the Bayou Magic series and it feels so much like the Nora Roberts trilogies that I read in the early 2000. Spells is filled with strong female friendships and sisterhood, strong lead characters and enough atmospheric suspense to keep me ignoring my kids and the laundry.
If you are looking for a series that feels like Halloween week, you need this one. However, I strongly suggest reading Shadows first. The mystery/evil bad guy story starts in Shadows and levels up in Spells. You will miss important details and pieces of the story if you skip Shadows.

4.5 stars! If you give soulmates and witches I’m 100% sure I’m going to like the book. We met Millie and Lucian in Shadows and I was so excited for this book. I’m all about the paranormal right now, just in time for Halloween. This was the perfect book for the season. I love that she is releasing these books during this season, but I don’t want to wait till next year for Daphne’s story!

Lucian knows that Millie is his soulmate. They have been meeting in each lifetime and he remembers each time they have fallen in love. Millie’s gift is growing and she is starting to dream of her lives with Lucian and is ready to not fight her destiny anymore. As soon as she accepts her fate as Lucian’s soulmate, she begins to feel the power that grows inside them both because of their connection. They have been fighting the same force each lifetime and each lifetime they are ripped apart early. This lifetime is going to be different. The 6 will come together to fight this spirit and they will all be able to carry out their destinies.
I loved the soulmate aspect. Coming back in each lifetime to be reunited with each other. It makes my heart soar. I just wish I didn’t pick up on the twist in the book so early, and the end was a little rushed to me. I really cannot wait for the next book in this series and can’t wait for more of these sisters and their loves that were written in the stars.

Speechless

I am sitting here stunned, but so in love with the love story between Millie and Lucian.

The paranormal factor, holy cow. Kristen Proby has that part nailed. I felt like I was watching a movie. The serial killer and suspense, absolutely nailed it.

I honestly wasn’t sure how I would feel when reading a paranormal romance series, but it’s a Kristen Proby book, so an automatic one click. I fell in love with this story. Yes, it has a serial killer in it with some crazy good suspense. But at the same time a love story for the ages with Millie and Lucian. It’s one of those love stories that make you smile and think “this is why I read romance.” I can’t say I’ve read anything like theirs before.

Spells is book 2 in the Bayou magic series and it was phenomenal. This one follows Millie, who is the middle sister and a practicing witch. Book 1 was Brielle, the oldest sister. Serendipity will be the youngest sister Daphne’s sorry.

This was a hands down, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ across the board.

Oh my goddess! This book was amazing and kept me interested to know what was coming next.
So many unknown twists get revealed. I had some theories while reading and they were proven wrong. I was gasping and in shock at some of the things we find out. I totally wasn't expecting them.
Lucien stole my heart with how big his love and devotion are. Millie's love is just as intense as Lucien's.

Spells is book 2 in the Bayou Magic series, and the book I had been patiently waiting a whole year for! Was it worth it? 1000% HELL YES!!!

Spells focusses on Millie, one of the 3 sisters who is a powerful practicing witch who adds kooky little spells to her drinks in her coffee shop, Witches Brew. Dreams plague Millies sleep and have done so for years, each one bringing her a part of the past long, long ago which she cannot decipher.

Lucien is a Warlock, who’s many lives span over centuries, each one of those lives including Millie by his side. Specialising in the study of blood, Lucien supports the local PD and FBI with their murder cases. He has pinned for Millie for a decade, and with evil looming, the evil the girls thought had been banished, Lucien needs Millie to recognise him and their history together, if they have any hope of beating him this time round.

Will they succeed in destroying Horaces spirit once more, or will they fail, losing the most important things in their lives, each other in the process?

This book was absolutely mind blowing and phenomenal! After loving Shadows so much, I couldn’t wait to see where Kristen went with Spells. She totally knocked it out of the park, yet again and blew me away with her originality and depth that this story oozed. From the very beginning she started off with a bang and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story.

There is so much to this series, each book has a level of complexity to it that makes perfect sense but at the same time leaves you guessing what will happen next! The sinister and gory detail was written to perfection and i could see everything play out in my mind.

The love that Millie and Lucien have for each other is enthralling and I found their many pasts, historic relationships and flash backs utterly fascinating. This book has a huge The Craft meets Practical Magic vibe to it and it’s totally perfect for this time of year. The fact that it’s different to Kristens other books, but still holds her magic that we have come to love so much made it so much more enjoyable!

I cannot wait to find out how these sisters story ends next year!

A huge top favourite read for 2020

‘That's the same look you gave me when you told me you couldn’t go home with me. In 1692, Lucien.’

‘You were remembering a past life.’

This series is just getting better and better! I really enjoyed Shadows and I can promise you that Spells did not disappoint! It was a wonderful addition to the Bayou Magic trilogy and the paranormal and the dark undertones of this novel just bleed so well into one another.

I absolutely adored Millie and Lucien and I love that the two of them are each other's soul mates, in every life they lead.
Once I started reading this, I couldn’t put it down. You know when books just transport you to their world and you wish you were living in it? Well this is exactly how I feel about this story, and the New Orleans world that Kristen has created.

I can’t believe we now have to wait until October 2021 for the conclusion of this trilogy. Daphne and Jackson intrigue me, so you know I’ll be reading Serendipity as soon as it releases!

Once again, Kristen Proby has written a beautiful, heartfelt and paranormal romance and I am in awe of her worlds and characters.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

How about returning to New Orleans? 👻☠🧛‍♀️🧝‍♀️🧟‍♂️
In this contemporary romance, drenched in magic, the author takes us to the magical world of the three witch sisters: Brielle, Millie and Daphne who, despite leading their lives normally (Brielle is a tour guide in the city, in "ghostly" places; Mille is owner of a Café, and Daphne owns an antiquary), also suffer from persecution beyond this world.
This time, men with similar physical characteristics are being kidnapped and left to pieces in parts of the city. All of this is a "gift" to Millie, for a very special reason.
Furthermore, she continues to try to deny the huge attraction she feels for Lucien, a friend of the family; a blood and DNA scholar and researcher, whose expertise helps the police solve countless cases (including Millie's brother-in-law, Cash, a former FBI agent)
As the victims are found, strange phenomena - perhaps not so coincidental - appear, from old lives and whose power can be stronger than any spell ever created.
SPELLS complements the first book, SHADOWS, and therefore it is much better that it be read in the order of release.
The story is super engaging - a little dark in some points - and with a great romance. Every girl will sigh for Lucien.

Shouldn't I treat you as if you're a treasure? Because you are. I know that makes me sound ridiculously old fashioned, and maybe a bit too mushy, but it's true

Be prepared to be scared.

Spells is the next installment in this PNR trilogy and is the story of Millie and Lucien who we have met in Shadows and I was very excited to read their story. Another heartstopping rollercoaster ride that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Really can't wait to read the next one!

Millie is the owner of Witches Brew and also has magical powers since she can remember. Being a hedgewitch she has learned a lot over the years but being near Lucien always had her so confused. With everything going on around her and a looming threat still there, she realises it is time to truly find out what she and Lucien have. Finally letting go of everything makes them closer and unlocks more of their past. When a lot is happening, their bond continues to grow and even strengthens both their powers. Will they be able to fight evil again or will it be the end of it all?...
