The sensational conclusion to the massive #1 New York Times bestselling series…

It’s been over three months since my friends and I took down Cyrus. Three months where my biggest fear was what paper was due next... But I should have known it was too good to last. Now everything is falling apart.

The Vampire Court has no king, the Dragon Court has no heart, and the Gargoyle Court has me—a teenager in way over her head. And it’s the worst possible timing, because a threat is brewing just as the Circle is collapsing.

I have no choice but to return to the Shadow Realm and face the terrifying queen who nearly ended us…and make a deal with her to save Mekhi. But this time, I’m bringing my powerful friends with me—and Hudson. Except something is wrong with him, too. He’s keeping a secret—even from me.

All I know is that everyone’s life hangs in the balance. And it’s my fault—because I still owe the Crone a favor...and now she’s come to collect.

Unfortunately, it's time to bid farewell to this book and the series. It was tedious and lacking any clear direction, making it a struggle to reach even 20%. The summary of the previous books was overwhelming.

Sadly it's a farewell from me.

LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.

Did I mention that I LOVE this?

This series was absolutely wonderfully written and is absolutely one of my favorite series. I just love Hudson and Grace as a couple.

I’ve been in a fit of giggles through chapters 47, 48 and chapter 49. I can’t breathe, I’m dead! Oh Hudson! This one is funny (Vegaville!) and fast paced. Of course, sometimes it is a bit too cheesy and too much righteousness. But I LOVED every second of it!

I am glad that this series talked through trauma, emotional maturity and different life experience and not everyone will handle things the same way. It promote love and acceptance above all.

I really want a book on Jackson and Finn.

Quotes:
“Time does not change us. It just unfold us.”

“Damaged in our own right, powerful in our own time, we have spent far too long at the whims of other people.”

This makes me SO sad writing this considering I lived and breathed the first 5 books… hudson and grace had me in a chokehold. However, this book fell short for me, I found it to be more young adult/juvenile, and I was just bored. It’s sad the series ended this way after I invested so much time in it.

Okay, so the first 5 books I flew through and loved each one so very much. I’ve been emotionally invested from the start. This book threw me so hard because the pacing was off in comparison. Being the last one of the main series I felt that there was very little growth and character development, I was pretty disappointed.

These stars are strictly for Hudson, Smokey and the bloodletter. That is all.

IT IS A DNF FOR ME.

Okay so I give up. I admit defeat. I cannot force myself through this mess. It’s so childish and Gracaca is just so self-absorbed I CANNOT DEAL WITH IT ANYMORE.

Anyways, feel free to update me on what I missed because I have zero interests in finishing this book.

Although, I’ll miss you Hudson, my fave character 🫶🏼🥲

I’m so sad this series is over. This has easily become one of my favorite series I’ve ever read, with Hudson becoming my favorite book boyfriend of all time. I’m going to miss reading new adventures of all of these characters, but I’ll definitely be rereading all of these books. I think Cherish was a really great ending to the series. So much happened in this book, I’m not sure how the author was able to keep it under 600 pages. I wouldn’t have minded a little extra though, especially towards the end. But overall I thoroughly enjoyed this and am excited for the spin off series about Remy (:

TLDR: ಠ_ಠ Let me preface this by stating that I very much enjoyed the Crave series…and then Cherish came out and I resented it for about 75% of the book. By the time anything legitimate started happening (the last 25% ) I was so numbed by the monotony of Grace’s unending inner ̴M̴̴o̴̴n̴̴o̴̴l̴̴o̴̴g̴̴u̴̴e̴ temper tantrum that I became indifferent #StockholmSyndrome. Author gave up on this one and you can sense this as you make your way through it. The ending was bizarre in a ‘really…that’s it?’ kind of way. This book should have been named ‘Complain’ because that’s all that Grace does for 592 pages.

UPDATE: 7 hours into the audiobook and nothings happened. So much filler. So far this book sucks. It’s all just Grace whining and being a narcissist because in her mind everything is up to her and she knows best…rather than the collective wisdom of the hundreds of years old people that surround her. Hudson could do better. 👎 So far this book is one unending Grace-internal-dialogue. Spicy scenes consist of a pillow fight and fade to black bs. Almost considering DNF. Doesn’t even seem like it was written by the same author. That or reads like Tracy Wolff found Jesus and has gone soft or something. So far not so good.

Update II: Well….I stuck it out and there was very little improvement. Even the way it ended was like ….wait…really? I can’t help but feel like Tracy was ready to be done with this series. It reads as if there was a certain length agreed upon and rather than filling it with plot…she just filled pages with Grace’s unrelenting ruminations and side-bars.

Want to mention that I don’t know what happened to Grace after she decided that sunny San Diego was totally the right place for an ancient Irish court of Gargoyles, but what do I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ [sooo bad I literally cackled the first time the news broke]

Perhaps too much “El-lay” rubbed off on her. She was so annoying whining about Hudson redecorating. I mean for fox-sake the dude has stuck his neck out and saved her how many times ?

Not to mention that this insecure, self absorbed, demi-god queen was already put in check once by the Gargoyle Court. Specifically for not aligning her attitude with the nature of the gargoyle spirit. She whines because everything is so haaaard and she has to fix it all (*she doesn’t*). Where’s Calder when you need her? ….oh that’s right. Nvm.

Anyhoo this book is nothing like the others in the worst ways possible. It reads like Tracy wasn’t invested in the series anymore.

The only mildly redeeming parts of this book was the return of Smoky🎀 and a giant marble Hudson peen🍆. 😈

To start off, I really wanted to like this book. But it was hard to. I honestly feel that after book 3 this series kind of went downhill. It got so convoluted, confusing and repetitive. And this finale was the worst installment.
I feel like this book and book 5( charm) could have been combined into one book. It was that repetitive. Grace complaining about how much of shit show her life has become. A little peek into side characters lives and then throw in a A sexy time with Hudson which I skipped past cause I was tired of hearing about ‘how good’ he felt. And her going from gargoyle to Demi God was just so unrealistic and then to be related to so and so was just too much.
And a lot of the side characters were underdeveloped. Like they were afterthoughts and it was annoying. I was more interested in hearing about Jackson and Flint than Grace and Hudson.
And what got super old was the short chapters and the, trying too hard cliche chapter names.
To wrap it all up. This series ends on dud. It went on for too long and got so convoluted with all its unnecessary additions of gods, a shadow world and too many unnecessary details that just felt like fillers. And the ending was so rushed and messy as hell. Don’t get me started on the so many loose ends ( which I’m sure were meant to keep this series going in the spin off)that are just annoying. A very disappointing and anti climatic finale. The only saving grace was the return of Smokey

My first thought: this is finally over. And I will sit on this hill that the last two books are unnecessary.

I would like to say that I loved the narrator's performance of these characters. But the useless care of the curse words throughout every other sentence grated my nerves to no end. Felt a little juvenile and didn't help me enjoy the story at all.

Thus, I did enjoy the plot somewhat. It was annoying to revisit the Shadow World and relive it all over again. Let me revisit the whole town in fond memories and throw a concert even though my friend is dying. Egh, I get why they did it. But a pretty long book in the process.

There seemed to be a lot of fillers in this book. Though Wolff does have an amazing way of creating a story which helped me get through the book. But alas I will say again, long and unnecessary.

The ending of this series is okay. Could have taken the ending of this book and slapped it in the 4th book. Where it seemed like a great conclusion to the series. All in all, I would be willing to reread the first four books of the series, just not the last two.

Things I’m certain about:

1. This was a chaotic mess.
2. A lot of stuff happened that didn’t need to happen.
3. Stop making characters sing if it isn’t a musician based book.

i have made my hate of the crave series no secret. so my interest was piqued when i saw multiple people, including lovers of the series, dnfing cherish. naturally, i decided to read it AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

and.. wow. this book suffered with a lot of issues i’ve found present in the rest of the series, mainly: the lack of seriousness. and like, I GET IT. it’s a young adult novel.. i think. there’s this weird juxtaposition between the adultness of hudson and grace’s feeding sessions and literally everything else that happens in the book. the crave series has suffered from the need to be quirky, different, and “hip” in its writing (and i’ve mentioned that before). but when the characters are being spelled to go bald and become gummy snakes it’s hard to take the book seriously. pair that with a WAY too long section about the god of time making the worst buddy the elf inspired dessert spaghetti. and THEN, of course, there’s the whole VEGAVILLE thing. which was. so incredibly stupid. hudson vega costumes, hudson vega fangirls, hudson vega collectibles, and let’s not forget THE STATUE OF HUDSON IN THE TOWN CENTER WITH A GIANT PENIS (because that was just sooooooo funny). it was just brainless. they’re supposed to be in the middle of an impossible, dangerous, SERIOUS mission and we’re spending pages talking about how much everyone in the town worships hudson and his motherfucking CONCERT where he sang TWENTY ONE PILOTS like the EDGY LITTLE BOY HE IS. ahem. anyways, it’s hard to establish a serious tone in your story if the characters don’t take themselves or each other seriously, and they’re constantly facing “funny” scenarios that have nobody over the age of 10 laughing. and i just want to mention how strange it was that all the little grace cosplayers were wearing padded bras because, did you forget? grace has HUGE boobs. thanks tracy.

fook. let’s talk about fook. building on what i was saying about the lack of seriousness. FOOK. we GET IT, HUDSON IS A VAMPIRE HARRY STYLES. YOU ARE NOT SUBTLE TRACY!!! but just say fuck. just SAY that he said fuck in an accent. every time (luckily only 12 in this book) i read fook, a piece of my soul crumbled and died. and weirdly, there was some PWEASE and PWROMISE that was just so unnecessary and made me wanted to barf.

this is going to sound terrible. i get it. but i actually enjoyed the part of the story where grace believed that everyone had died because of the celestial bees and bear. there’s a moment where she thinks “and everyone tried to warn me celestials were not meant to be trifled with. but i ignored them, chose not to listen, not to ask, not to question a single thing that might result in us not trying to save mekhi” (page 462). and for the first time probably in this whole series, the gang didn’t survive the IMPOSSIBLE DEADLY PERILOUS situation they had been put in. and yes, i knew that they weren’t really dead, because this is the sixth book in the series and basically all the important characters are still alive. but for once, it almost felt like there were really stakes for the characters. and that has been one of my other main issues with the series, in every book the characters are given another impossible mission and told that they are facing certain death. 400 pages later, after the 10 page long “final battle” or “confrontation” everyone is still alive. shocker. it eliminates any sense of danger in the series when every book follows a very similar plot, and you know everyone is going to make it out okay.

my last question is simply, why? why did this book need to be written? because it felt really pointless. the first 200-250 pages were just people talking.. and nothing happened. the whole story centered around saving mekhi (which as stated earlier, he survived.. obviously). but other than that, not a lot happened. it took almost 600 pages for the shadow queen to be freed and the paranormals to kill a bunch of hunters that wanted to kill them. grace was already technically queen of the gargoyles. it just felt unnecessary. i don’t think i’ll remember anything from this book by next week. at least the other books in the series have been so bad that i remember them. but this was a nothing book.

lastly, i’d like to thank everyone who made this possible. and by this, i mean finishing this god-awful series. i am free. i’d like to thank the librarians at my library for not judging me when they saw me check this out, i’d like to thank everyone who asked me why i was doing this (i still don’t know), and most of all, i’d like to thank my friend reigan. this series brought one good thing into my life, and it’s her. she’s the one that finally convinced me to read these, listened to all of my rants, let my annotate her copy of charm with her, and even picked this book back up when i told her i was reading it. couldn’t have done it without her!

I AM FREEEEEEEEEEE GOODBYE GRACE GOODBYE HUDSON GO FUCK YOURSELVES

I’m sad that this portion of the series is over, but I’m looking forward to the spin off series! I hope we see some of our favorite characters pop up there. Overall I enjoyed how this series ended. There were a few things I wish were tied up a little more nicely, but even still I’d give this final installment 4.5 stars rounded up!

I KNOW that this series was cheesy to begin with, okay?? I just have to say that this one was the worst 🥴. I know she was just trying to wrap up the series but I can’t help but feel like maybe the series as a whole was rushed, and you can see that in the writing. Repeating terms and phrases over and over in places… and I never understood the lack of urgency they seemed to have throughout the book.

FUCK THIS BOOK fuck this book to hell and back okay literally it did not even need to exist or be written at all.
the plot is ridiculous. hopping in and out of the shadow realm serves no real problems even though it’s supposed to be a. a prison and b. really impossible to do so.
there are no real stakes here, mekhi is dying and he only has two weeks to live! but it’s okay we can take our time and go shopping in vegaville and stage a 21 pilots tribute concert and spend a whole day traveling all over the world and then another 24 hours in the house of a god. and even when mekhi is really dying this time guys trust me! he always has just enough time for them to do whatever they need to do first.
grace never faces consequences for her actions, she’s at her fucking worst here. she’s selfish and stupid and she constantly berates herself for not thinking things through and getting her so cute! found family! hurt bc she doesn’t plan things out only to CONTINUALLY KEEP DOING THAT and have her slack picked up by those more competent and smarter friends. but don’t forget she’s the most specialest girlboss in the world!! don’t forget that she’s a gargoyle queen and can fly and has earth magic and chaos magic and is immune to other magic and is telepathic and can heal people! but god forbid she ask anyone what the tree they’re looking for looks like before they head out on their fucking quest.
again, there are no stakes, i couldn’t feel any danger because everything is resolved in a way where grace doesn’t even have to sacrifice anything directly that will make her too sad :(
don’t get me started on the dumb ass ending, the magic systems that are so vague and ill-defined that tracy can do whatever the hell she wants with them, the new magic shit she just drops on you with barely an explanation, and it’s the last book in the series, so god help you if you want any answers- the celestial dew, the soul honey, the sword of galadras, the magic pouches the hunters have that can explode and disintegrate paranormal beings, the expanded powers of the mating bonds, the humans actually having magic all along!??!
this one was hardest to read out of the whole damn series and that’s saying something. jaxon was disrespected 11 separate times in this whole book and even though he got gay mated to flint (my one win) they never even kissed and they were miserable for almost the whole thing so explain that to me tracy please.
i’m glad it’s finally over i’m glad i’m finally fucking free. until actually the spin-off series hits shelves next and i’ll be back.

Ok confession, I couldn't read this book in my best pacing and full concentration, and that result to being confused and just wanting to finish this book. And that's not ok because I really liked this series in this past couple of years and had so much fun even though it's so clichè and random lol.

Unfortunatly, I couldn't love this book, and even have fun just like I had with last books, because I feel like this book didn't need to exist and the sole reason is that The direction and purpose of this book and character motivation was not well done and not obvious. I don't even know what they were doing most of the time, and usually with this books being chuncky and just so many drama, I would at least have fun.

Like I said, some of the blame is on me, I didn't give the full concentration I normally have to this book, but the other reason is also the unaccurate purpose of this finale. Sadly, I will have to part ways with this series on a mix feeling note, but overall, I really liked the journey we had in this series.

Well holy “fooking” shit this was the BEST way to end this series. I was so nervous about how this was all going to end, and I was more nervous by the halfway point because this poor group of friends has been through so much. I can’t even count the amount of times I cried while reading this, there were sad tears, happy tears, shocked tears, just drowning in tears over here and now I have a headache from not only crying but also from reading this as an ebook because it’s the only format that was here “instantly” yesterday and I was too desperate to read it. Hi migraine, nice to see you again!

This series is one of my favourites of all time, and I’m so sad it’s over now, sad but also somewhat excited to see what Tracy writes next.

I’m off to go and cover myself in glitter ribbons and sob for a little while. Guess I already need to reread Cherish because I’m just not ready for it to be over.

Can't believe I finished this series...normally I'd say I don't know what to do with my life now, but the Remy spinoff is coming soon so I have that to look forward to.

I read the previous book back in September, and I didn't mean to wait so long before getting into this, but honestly I just didn't want it to end because I love this series so much.

The ending of book five is also an okay stopping point for the series if you don't feel like reading this, most things get wrapped up, but if you want to see EVERYTHING wrapped up then pick up Cherish as well.

I was not expecting to be crying so much, all it took was mentioning some of the dead characters and BAM, on came the water works.

I wouldn't say that this is the strongest book in the series when compared to books 2-5 which are my absolute faves, but it's a fitting conclusion.

Also I'm excited for the full cast audiobook(s), I already listened to this series on audiobook, but it was 99% Grace's narrator so I'm looking forward to seeing how it comes alive with more than just (mostly) her. Fingers crossed we get full cast audios for the whole series AND the Remy spinoff!!!

Me parecido mucha paja y relleno.

Spoiler, NO.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Waited for this continuation of a storyline I really liked. However, over half the book is a retelling from Jaxon’s perspective of previous parts in the earlier books. Was utterly disappointed, if I wanted to recap their story I would have reread the previous books. Jaxon’s perspective should have been a separate book.

Let me start out by asking… wtf was this book?

I LOVED books 1-5. And now my firm opinion is that the books should have ended with the last one.

This book was full of absolutely nothing besides repetition. The first 400 pages didn’t have any adventure - just having a “little bit of fun” before the actual adventure.

Then we get to the adventure which is just a giant angler fish that slightly causes a fuss followed by some bees & a bear and then we’re done.

The ending was hastily wrapped up with how the “new world” is supposed to be, Grace & Hudson might have kids (?), Hudson’s big reveal, and literally every single friend storyline that’s just left unfinished (along with literally every major plot point).

And can I just say that my eyes almost permanently rolled into the back of my head when Heather used her “human magic” to help save the day. I mean cmon. Where tf did that come from?

And what about the crone & the hunters??? I’m assuming this is setting us up for the spin-off series but I found it all so stupid.

I’m so disappointed in this book and wish it would have just ended with the last one. Seems like a money grab from the author.

Take my advice and read this series but stop at Charm.

The last book in the Crave series didn’t really end how I wanted it to. I feel like there was still a lot of unanswered questions. Hudson Vega is by far my favorite character in this series. The best books in the series are Crush, Covet, and Court. The last two books just didn’t grab my attention as much as in the beginning. The writing is a little juvenile as well. Overall, I will give it a 3. I still enjoyed the series, but there are definitely better books & series out there.
