The Dragon Warlord: Dragon Warlord Book One

Rate this book
A Romantically Charged Fantasy Adventure with Deliciously Possessive Characters and Snarky Humor.

* This is a brand-new story, featuring characters from a previous (and much beloved) series. While it's not absolutely necessary to read the previous series to enjoy this one, it is recommended.*

Tristan

Accidents can happen to anyone. What did I do? Well, I accidentally got myself bonded to a dragon lord for starters (it could have happened to anyone). Not sure if he’s the good guy or the villain. Okay, I know he’s not the good guy, but that doesn’t automatically make him a villain.

Like it or not, I do his bidding now.

But you can’t cage a dragon. It’s only a matter of time before my dragon’s blood boils and I burn these towers out of the flipping sky.

River was a surprise. I shouldn’t be in love with him, but he’s hijacked my every thought. I also have a world to save. He’s a distraction I can’t afford.

River

I’ve waited my whole life for Tristan. He thinks what I’m feeling for him is due to our bond, but that’s not true. If all he wants from me is friendship, then that’s what I’ll give him even if it may be the death of me.

For now, trouble is brewing. It seems to erupt around Tristan like a Markaytian dragon theatre soap opera. Whatever happens, I’ll be faithfully by his side.

Join Tristan and his family for a new adventure. This is a gay fantasy romance that features found family, bonding, soulmates, friends-to-lovers, possessive MCs, touch him and you-know-what, and the caretaking dynamic Mock (S. Legend) is known for. Dragon lords will lord. Husbands will boss. Dragon mates will find love (awww).

P.S. YES THIS IS A POLYAMOROUS RELATIONSHIP

Some of you know her as Mock, others as S. Legend, or Miss S. She welcomes all names but will often go by Mock, a name given to her by her readers.
Mock is an ambitious creative, weaving the most precious aspects of her soul into stories. She is an architect, building fascinating worlds, designed from inquiry, rooted in worldly wonderings. It’s an intuitive process where she is the scribe, the translator, the conduit.
It helped that storytelling was the language spoken at home. One simply didn’t say, “We have an ant infestation,” in Mock’s family it was, “I was on my way to the living room, when a peculiar ant crossed my path. I looked to my right, a suspicious line of them marched toward the pantry. In that moment I knew; my kitchen was under siege.” The natural flow of conversation always took this form.
And so.
When Mock wrote her first novel, she didn’t plan it chapter by chapter, there was no outline, no “plotting” to speak of. But she didn’t “pants” it either, she didn’t make it up as she went along. She knew how the story felt, where it curved in places and hollowed in others; she knew the destination it rushed toward. Instead of orchestrating, she let the world inspire her, and held space for the words to come, trusting the characters knew what they were doing. All she had to do was tell a story, as she always had done; like breathing.
This is her peace, her healing and solace: Gifts better shared.
Mock’s works are the comfort you seek when you need to come home. Her unique writing style will take you, wayfaring reader, to unexpected destinations.
She always says, “I’m not in the business of making up stories, I couldn’t if I tired. I’m lucky enough to get picked to share someone else’s story when I ask a question to the universe. Someone answers; I write it down.”

Corrik made his 1 POV appearance in the final .05% of the book and still completely took over my brain. That cocky arrogant SOB is the absolute shite.

River is adorable. We know this. Now he’s even more perfect.

Tristan, after decades in Dragon land, is an absolute brick shit house and will literally tear people’s throats out if they breathe too close to Riv. I am OBSESSED with this development.

Dragon Lord… he is both infuriating and endearing. I don’t understand my own feelings. I am Tristan. Send help.

To summarize: Give me more. I need more.

Thank you to everyone. I am so happy you're loving River as much as I do! He's one of my faves and will DEFINITELY be around forever more.

I've got some gorgeous #TRIVER art coming from the OG artist and I'm teaming up with another artist to do another piece!

There are also some fabulous time stamps of the pair on my Patreon with MORE to come. I loved writing these two so, SO much. Thank you for all your love and support.

Well, I am loving this version of Tristan. I love him as a brat but this…this is another level. To see him in alpha mode, dominant and claiming his omega River, it’s so damn good and I love this side of him so much.

I really have to applaud my spanking queen Madame Mock, she has put so much into this book and it shows. She has managed to evolve Tristan into this paradox character, without losing that essence that makes “Tristan” if that makes sense.

River, I could write a novel on how much I love River. There are so many quotes from him in this book that I just loved, he is a star and to see him have his time to shine with Tristan is so special. So wonderful. Rivers family also added a deeper dimension in this world and I loved how all the characters knitted the story together without taking over.

This world Mock has created is mind blowing, the character development, each character backstory, the different cultures of their kinds like the elves and dragons, the world building is divine and so exquisite, she is such a talented writer and you really can picture these characters.

On top of that she will always be the spanking queen, she got me into this trope and I trust her guiding hand 🍑👋😉

Beautiful book, beyond what I was expecting for these two, just filled my heart with happiness.

All I have to say is… Alpha Tristan. Thank you and goodnight. 😌
Ahaha in all seriousness this book was everything I didn’t know I needed!! If you thought Tristan’s story was over, you are sooooo wrong!! 🥰
Be prepared to laugh, cry, smile, squeal, and roll your eyes (at Tristan specifically) because this book genuinely had it all.

I was constantly on the edge of my seat!! Not a dull moment I promise you!! I was like
“AH!! NO!! Tristan you beautiful dumb ass!! What is happening!!” I literally could not put it down.
Tristan being all domineering and Alpha-like with River was so different from Brat Tristan and I was 100% here for it!
Also, River is like a warm and cleansing sunbeam to my soul and I just adore him (Don’t tell Tristan I said that lmao 🤭)

Okay here me out with this…I need more Dragon Lord Tristan content!! I crave it!! I have so many questions and he intrigues me to no end!! Like my heart just has this need to know everything about him and I’m literally just ahhhh!! I feel like he honestly does a lot for Tristan and it just stressed me out that Tristan kinda ignores it and I’m just shaking in my metaphorical boots for the Dragon Lord and their bond. He's grown on me so much!!😭💘

Let me just say the plot of this book was far better than I expected! I was surprised by all the new information, adventures, and dynamics that were explored. The spice was fabulous and added so much to the story!! I was genuinely shocked by how full and complete this book was (no filler to be had)!!

With that said… this book was a wild and unforgettable roller coaster for me. S. Legend’s writing sings to my heart like no other. It is clear that Tristan’s adventures are far from over, and I can’t wait to discover what else is in store for him and his family! Tristan will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope you too will feel as I do about him if you don’t already. As always, happy reading! ❤️🔥🤍

Listen.. listen.. LISTEN. This book. THIS BOOK! If you like overly possessive dragon males then holy shit this book is for you.

When I first started this book, I was immediately sucked in. Straight away it was raw, gritty, passionate and full of strict discipline. You guys. This is a complex world with all kinds of paranormal beings. Dragons, elves, vampires etc live alongside humans, and there's a whole heap of magic and awesome powers going on.

There are a lot of things happening in this book. There's actually a trilogy that precedes it in case you're interested to get the whole storyline.

Tristan is a lot of things. A dragon warlord and an elf among them. In the beginning of the book we see him wandering around the skies until he reaches two weird towers. He kinda thought he was the only dragon alive.. so imagine his surprise when another dragon suddenly appeared from these buildings and made him surrender 😳

Well he was kinda fucked. Because that huge af dragon was his alpha and immediately collared him. The things he went through in his hands.. OMFG. The spankings? The punishments? 👀

Dear Lord. I wanted to choke that fucker.

In these towers Tristan realises that there are many dragons alive. He has the chance to practice, learn about his race and also.. claim his own omega 👀

At this point I will mention that this whole thing is poly. That means a lot of partners. Remember that trilogy I mentioned? Well.. Tristan has also 3 other men. All elves. 👀

And now he is bonded with River. His omega.

Gosh. I wanted to fucking smack them. They both desired each other but wouldn't act on it for reasons I can't mention. Amidst all of this sexual tension, there is an overall plot that will suck you in.

There is a rare dragon they need to save, the emperor is a fucking bitch and keeps attacking them and Tristan is still learning things about himself. He also gets his ass beat while doing so 👋

This one had it all. World building, HOT chemistry, complex characters, sex.. Tristan was a fucking brat but idgaf. I love his ass!

What to expect:

🔥Badass Hero
🔥 Action Fantasy
🔥 Sexual tension
🔥 Hot chemistry
🔥 Strict discipline
🔥 Slow burn

Tristan is back and like we’ve never seen him before!
River is a 1300 year old son of the great Dragon Lord. He doesn’t think of himself as anything special (I disagree!) and is shocked when the Dragon Warlord finally arrives at The Tower (aka Dragon Land) and only has eyes for him. The warlord has found his omega, and River is thrilled that this beautiful, powerful dragon chose him.
After his first shift and a major argument with his men, Tristan ends up at The Tower under the command of the Dragon Lord. He now has on omega, a new role, and a new home, but he doesn’t have his Elven family. Tristan has many things to achieve as the Warlord, but he can’t help but miss his Elven life.
We watch Tristan grow as an alpha (which, as you can imagine, does NOT coming naturally to him), and as a Warlord. There’s many lessons along the way, and surprisingly our Tris is reticent to learn them. His most important lessons will be how to care for his omega when he is very unhappy about how he claimed him. Tristan goes through a lot of guilt over this, and doesn’t know if River’s feelings are genuine or based on his feral claiming.
As Tristan and River grow closer and closer, neither can fight their feelings for the other. But with threats to the Tower and the dragons within, Tristan has to figure out how to settle their bond so he can be what he was destined for: the great Dragon Warlord.
This is Tristan in a whole new light, and I loved getting his and Riv’s story! Thank you so much to Mock for sharing this story with me!!

-Tristan in Dragon Land!
-UST (a LOT of UST)
-Slow burn
-Mating
-Sp@nking
-Dragon battles!
-An amazing cameo from my love CORRIK!!!

🩶Review🩶

“I want to belong to the Warlord. I’ve never wanted anything like I’ve wanted that single thing.”

I’ve been waiting so long for this book!! I adore the Tristan trilogy, so when I found out Tristan and River were getting their story told, I freaked. The long wait paid off because this was amazing. The Dragon Warlord, by S. Legend, fulfilled my wildest (kinky) dreams. 👋🏻🍑🥵

Highlights:
🩶Dragon Warlord/Prince
🩶alpha/omega
🩶MMM+
🩶touch him and die
🩶lots of spankings (Mock’s specialty)
🩶slow burn, yet steamy AF

Tristan and River were perfection. I adore all of Tristan’s men, but River might be one of my favs. Corrik still wears that crown, but River is a close second. River’s dynamic with Tristan, as Alpha and Omega, was SO hot. Woooow. I thought I was going to combust in some parts. Their slow burn romance had me aching. I’ve never been so excited for a kiss—trust me, there is a LOT more than that once they get going. 🙌🏻🥵

The steam was fantastic, but the best part was the world building and characters. I was sucked into this dragon world, and I cannot wait till the next book!! 🩶

Favorite quote:
“I wish he would believe how much I loved his possessiveness. If he can never find a place for me among his men, I could live happily buried in his covetous clutches.”

I recommend reading the Tristan trilogy first before this one because (1) that series is amazing, and (2) you will benefit from knowing Tristan’s back story prior to him ending up at the Dragon Lord’s castle. 🩶

The wait is over and I was not disappointed

This story is basically a side quest which runs parallel to the main game.
Which means that you really should read the previous trilogy in order to fully understand what's happening.
The premise of these books is a highly sexualized world, split into Dominants and submissives, Alphas and omegas.
Tristan has discovered that not only is he a submissive but also a dragon and he is desperately trying to figure things out.
There's also a poly relationship that took a lot of work in order to get into some semblance of order.
Tristan has suddenly come under the control of the Alpha of dragons which turns into a terrible time for Tristan.
He also meets his omega River and immediately claims which causes him regret and self doubts.
He really can't stop thinking that's the only reason River wants him.
River for his part absolutely wants Tristan and the scenes between were so damn steamy.
I did however want to smack them both upside the head because they both dawdled on the spectacular UST between because of "reasons".
Tristan is also having a hard time reconciling himself to be the Alpha to his omega.
There's also a side plot to rescue a rare dragon and the action and danger associated with it kept me speeding through until the end.

This book should have been a collection of short stories. Because this is exactly what it is - bonus content, a bunch of side stories barely connected to each other through dry tissue of explanatory paragraphs.
Hear me out - I like River and all Tristan's men, I love their dynamics, the worlbuilding and the whole spanking lifestyle. What I do not like is attempt to release a book when you apparently do not have one!
It was ambitious to try to cover decades of time - decades of adventures, they said - being in tune with the main trilogy, and not being repetitive at the same time.
Unfortunately, the mountain gave birth to a mouse.
The final text has no plot different from what we already know from Tristan III, and is overfilled with repetitive Tristan's whinings over "the right thing to do", while promised escapades, graphic spankings and hot sex are mentioned but almost never seen on pages.
Honestly, I expected more and definitely not a book that feels like a short-stories-mashed-together draft.
And yes, I still think it would be much more beneficial for all of us not to chew on missing bits from Tristan book III, but to start from the Dragon Lord's story - from the very beginning - and move it to the point of Tristan III, all from the Dragon Lord's point of view. That would be epic, and new, and still exploiting the universe.
Unfortunately, the author went in other direction.
Pity.

Story of Tristan during his time in « dragon land »
This book focus on the bond between him and River, as well as him adapting to his dragon and his bond to his dragon lord.

The all story is interesting, even though I have missed Tristan’s hubbies most of the time haha. We have another piece of Tristan in this book and I am still deeply in love with the character. He was still is brat self, but can’t wait to meet our little devil again in the next volume.
River is just the cinnamon roll we deserved, he needs to be protected at all cost.
I developed an attachment to the dragon lord as well, who I called the blond Tristan haha, just have so many question about him as well and his hubbies.

You will have to read all previous books to understand the story, otherwise you will have a lot of questions haha.
This is just book 1 of the dragon warlord serie, and I just can’t wait for the rest.

Next book will probably end up with another kid or maybe with a fifth icy husband (oh wait no, with dragon lord the 5th, than a 6th husband ? And do we add the dragon lord’s hubbies as well? Hahaha I lost count)

Well who knows ? But I’m sure Mock won’t disappoint !

After finishing Dragon’s Blood, Tristan’s third story, the one small nagging feeling I had was that I hadn’t had the chance to really spend time in dragon land like I wanted.

In swoops The Dragon Warlord. And oh GOOD lord.

River and Tristan are absolutely soothingly perfect to read when they are together. That kind of close soft wonderful bond is just a delight.

Having a whole new perspective on dominating and submissiveness through Tristan as he navigates being someone’s Alpha was such an interesting take. I loved it all.

If you’ve read each of the Tristan series books you know that a new dominant Alpha is introduced to Tristan’s life in each one. With every one I have hated them on page one and loved them (sometimes begrudgingly) by the last page. This book is no different. The Dragon Lord is a hard character to crack and care about but dammit if I didn’t by the end of this book.

This has so much action, such delicious slow burn pining, such sweet affection and of course twists into beautifully written really spicy sex.

I know I just finished this but I want more. I can’t wait to see what happens to this crew next. Bring on the evil Emperor.

I love sub Tristan.   I love brat Tristan.   But, they have nothing and I mean NOTHING on dragon alpha Tristan!!!  He is also the omega to the dragon lord (which he is NOT at all happy about).  In this book we see Tristan struggle with his feelings for River and the conflicting feelings he has about their relationship beginnings.  He doesn't want River to feel obligated to love him.  He fights his feelings for River for way way way too long (stubborn Tristan).

I LOVED getting to know River in this book and find out all the detail of their time at the tower.  Rivers love and devotion to his alpha is beautiful.  I hope River gets all the dragon babies!!!

Now, as for the dragon lord, I NEED to know all his tricks and secrets...  How is he keeping himself so distant from his omega?  What is his interest in little Bon?  Why did he not bond with the ice dragon?

I CAN'T WAIT to see what's next!! 15/10 🌟

Tristan is back but he's not the same brat we've come to know and love. Don't get me wrong, he's still a brat--that will never change--however, he's more mature, more dominant.

More animalistic.

I loved seeing this side of Tristan. If I'm being honest, I didn't think he had a dominant side. But when it came out to play though...

I loooooooved it!!

And River. He has the biggest heart. He's so sweet and loving. The love and pride he has in Tristan is beautiful. You could feel it as you read his POV.

River has a bit of brat in himself too. Which I thought was cute. And the way Tristan reacted to it, made it even cuter.

Not a fan of the dragon lord. Maybe I'll change my mind after I learn more about him but as it stands, not a fan.

Excited to see where the series goes from here. And hopefully see more of my man Corrik.

While it's a new series, I wouldn't recommend starting with this if you haven't read the Tristian trilogy yet. You don't need to to help understand the focal relationship between the two mains but you do for all of the other relationships and the world.

It was fun to get some more about what was going on between Tristian and River as their relationship developed but I did fine myself missing the others the whole time. I liked seeing this side of Tristian but I don't know, I missed seeing how he was with them and I found myself wanting to see how he would balance the relationships. Guess I'll have to wait for the sequel for that 😅

All in all, if you're a fan of Mock's other work and her style, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Book 1 in a new series of Tristan adventures but you should probably read the original trilogy first if you want to follow all the nuances.

Time wise this book fits in amongst the pages of Dragon’s Blood (Tristan #3). It is the story of those missing months/years that Tristan spent at The Tower or Dragon Land.
Tristan struggles with his role as an Alpha to River while dealing with his resentment towards the Dragon Lord and missing his men.
It takes some skill to write a character behaving so oppositely to how we have known him and yet keep his fundamental personality the same (brats will be brats). Who could ever have imagined Tristan as the dominant partner? Yet Mock takes us there brilliantly while also weaving her own brand of magic on the rest of the story.

Just started the book after rereading the trilogy and its so disappointing that river is being added as his love interest. Skipped to ch 25 and 26. This book series is ruined bcuz of river lol. The 4 guys were perfect together but river is literally the worst character in all the books and he is suddenly part of their relationship bcuz of wat dragon magic???They have no chemistry whatsoever. Baya, alrik and corrick and tristan are perfect together and river is not worth ruining that perfect dynamic. Just no lol skipping all river centric scenes and chs. Author hope you reconsider making him one of his mates lol. Just get rid of this book damn if it was possible id give it 0 stars for being the worst sequel to a 5 star Trilogy ajd ruining it.

It's been a while since I spent any time with Tristan, so getting back to his world was a delight.
The Dragon Warlord would be best enjoyed after the trilogy and covers some of the time jump that Tristan experienced in his time with the Dragon Lord.
There are time jumps in this but we get to see Tristan grow into his dragon side and properly establish a bond with River who is now my second favourite of Tristan's men, Baya being first place.
Expect a slow burn between him and River, plenty of spanking, and lots of dragon action.

Amazing

S Legend has a way of completely drawing you into her stories, so you just want more. If you haven’t read the Tristan series then go and read them, and then immediately read this amazing accompaniment. I’m so ready for the next one, hopefully it won’t be too long.

Just re-read the Tristan series (3 books) as they are the set-up for this next series and I definitely recommend reading them first. Loved them all and am so excited for more in this second series - promising to be exciting and adventure filled!
