This was a fun Regency romance. It’s a novella, so perfect for curling up on the couch for a little escape. I would have loved some chapters from the hero’s point of view, but a cute read nonetheless. Check it out if you’re a fan of the genre, like me.

I received an ebook from the author. I was not required to leave a review and all opinions are my own.

What a sweet read this was! Fans of Jane Austen's marvellous stories will fall in love with Tomi Tabb's Regency era romance novella, which comes packed with delicate sighs about a mysterious gentleman, witty women, and (as one of my favourite one-star reviews ever said about "Pride and Prejudice") a bunch of people going to other people's houses.

Since Austen's works have long been among my personal favourite books, this was a read I enjoyed immensely, and the delicate yet swift prose in which it's written had me finishing the story in one sitting. I quite enjoyed lady Helen's quest to find a husband while remaining true to herself and her principles first and foremost, and I very much appreciated the agency she was able to display throughout the entirety of the novel. The descriptions and settings were also fascinating, and made me feel like I was, indeed, standing in those ballrooms and living rooms with Helen.

Amazing one! Looking forwards to more stories by Tomi Tabb!

A sweet and clean novella. The FMC, Miss Helen Davenport, is a 22yo bluestocking who is beginning her 5th Season and supported by her doting father, aunt, & uncle. Helen meets the dashing (and fellow bookworm) Mr. Marcellus when she's helping a young footman with a broken arm. Helen & Mr. Marcellus bond over shared interests, morals, and priorities, but his true identity only comes to light at a major ball. Cue misunderstandings and an eventual HEA.

Writing style was engaging and entertaining. Being a novella (11 chapters), sometimes things skipped forward fast, but I found this book an enjoyable quick read for ppl who like Regency settings.

After reading The Mysterious Mr. Marcellus, I now think I need to check out other Regency romances. Or at least others similar to what Tomi has written.

As this was my first (maybe 2nd as I seem to recall a paranormal type regency) Regency, I went into it with an open mind. I know Tomi's writing, and so I just trusted that. Honestly I loved this novella. I was immediately curious about Helen, and wanted to know more about her. Then when Mr Marcellus was introduced, my curiosity piqued even more.

Tomi, you need to write another! Full length or novella, I'll read it!

Really super cute regency novella. I enjoyed the personalities of the main characters and how they at times, both tried to be what they weren't and to watch it backfire on them. Which of course leads them to each other even more.
