Tim Daughters
Tim Daughters asked Neil deGrasse Tyson:

I'm currently reading Astrophysics for People in a Hurry. You will probably not be surprised that I find the first second after the Big Bang to be hard to comprehend. In particular, you say that after 1 second, the universe has grown to a few light years across. Why doesn't this violate the universal speed limit of the speed of light?

Neil deGrasse Tyson The speed limit of light -- it's not just a good idea, it's the law -- applies to anything moving through space and has no impact on the expansion of space itself. So all is well in the early universe.
