As far as booktok recs go this one isn’t terrible. It’s set in a modern fantasy world—think Crescent City—and in that same vein there are a myriad of As far as booktok recs go this one isn’t terrible. It’s set in a modern fantasy world—think Crescent City—and in that same vein there are a myriad of supernatural creatures which is always interesting. BUT. Everything about it is meh. The plot is meh, the MCs are meh, the side characters are meh, so much meh.
I’m not mad about reading it. Mostly b/c I listened to the audiobook while doing various crafty things. If I’d sat down and read it, I’d have probably quit.
SO. If you want something marginally entertaining that you won’t be upset about it you get distracted this is a good option. That’s the best I can say about it....more
I don’t even know what to say about this book besides I loved it. Even more than I loved the first one. I love the characters, I love the plot, I love the magic system—I typically hate anything that falls under the umbrella of necromancy (b/c dead things are gross), but I don’t even care.
When I finished, I immediately bought hard copies of the author’s other series to take to beach next week.
So yeah, in the haystack of terrible TikTok book recs, this is a good one....more
