Granted I had the day off and no plans so I had all the time in the world to read but wow, this story was totally captivating.
For the YA genre this one is completely unique. It reads very much like Practical Magic: sleepy town, curse, “witches”, romance. And Ernshaw nailed all of it. It had enough magical elements to bring it to life and a compelling back story spanning 200 years to keep you interested throughout.
The prose is stunning. The writing poetic, and damn does she know how to toss together a believable/ natural love story that had me all heart eyes. Throw in some folklore with a dash of ghost story and I’m hooked. I adored everything about this novel and I will be looking forward to more from this debut author!!...more

Second book: I WILL PROTECT RHYSAND AT ALL COSTS BECAUSE HE IS A PRECIOUS CINNAMON BUN THAT SHOULD NOT BE TOUCHED.
This book is everything. The sequel is usually never better than the first but in this rare case, it is MUCH BETTER. I can barely comprehend the web that Maas has woven. It was a perfect plot, romance, action and suspense all balled up into a perfect package that is ACOMAF. I am blown away. How did I wait so long to read this series. I was totally and completely enamoured by the writing and the story. Maas weaves a fantastic story about a world I very much want to read more about. The world building is done perfectly and leaves you wanting more. The characters are well written and you quickly become absorbed in their lives and drama. I didn’t find it slow at all, it was a steady build with a solid ending that obviously left things open for more books, without being a cliffhanger. SO MUCH YES.
I don’t want to compare it to “twilight” but I mean.. THERE ARE SOME COMPARISONS TO BE MADE. it was just what twilight could have been, had it been written for young *adults, not 13 year olds. And don’t even kid yourself, you loved twilight when it first debuted, we all did.
5/5 glorious stars. Brb running to chapters to buy ALL the books! ...more

The first book that does that is never forgotten, and each page seems to bring a fresh revelation."
It's rare that a second book in a trilogy can hold a light to the first HOWEVER Finders Keepers does just that. Especially because King touches on something us constant readers can relate to very much.. an author obsession. I mean I hope none of you would ever hold King hostage if he quit releasing books, or I guess chose not to finish the Dark Tower series back in the day (that may have been grounds for a kidnapping but I haven't read it yet so I'm not 100% sure.)
John Rothstein wrote the unforgettable Jimmy Gold and then ruined him. Morris Bellamy wants to exact his revenge for this unforgivable narrative and he sets out to find Rothstein and make him pay, or give him unpublished books. Fast forward to the present day where young Pete Saubers finds a mysterious trunk right at the apex of his families demise after his father was maimed in an accident involving a crazed lunatic driving through a city center job fair with his Mercedes.. Pete finds thousands of dollars and thinks he is going to be the saviour his family deserves, anonymously. What he wasn't counting on was never before seen Rothstein novels accompanying his monetary treasure. Pete being a huge fan of Rothstein realizes what a jack pot he has really found and sets out to find a way to make his family rich, not counting on Rothsteins biggest fan setting out to retrieve his lost treasure, with no regard for any life getting in the way of his prize.
King nailed this. Nailed this one right on the head. The book is fast paced and you quickly find yourself utterly absorbed into the Saubers family and their fate. It brings back some of our favourites including Bill, Holly and Jerome. Bill is loveable as always and finding purpose again with his new investigative company Finders Keepers. Holly is quirky as ever and definitely a blooming character as I find myself enjoying her more and more. Jerome is attending Harvard university and assists his pals wherever he can, especially when his family once again becomes tangled in a murderers rampage.
The supernatural element poised in only a way King knows how to execute so perfectly added an interesting twist and just like before in the first version I am HELLA excited to dive into End of Watch.. I'm getting serious Carrie vibes! ...more
