‘You are a hundred times more alive now than you ever were’ – One solid new novel!
Author/composer Daryl Banner graduated from the University of Housto‘You are a hundred times more alive now than you ever were’ – One solid new novel!
Author/composer Daryl Banner graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Theatre and Psychology. His writing includes new adult romance, M/M romance, post-apocalyptic fantasy, and dystopian. According to his brief biography he is ‘most inspired by the smart and unlikely hero, but urges you (the reader) not to fall in love with them; they may deceive you with their innocence.’ This ‘warning’ is well placed with this novel KISSING WITH TEETH, a new venture for Daryl and a most successful one!
Early in life experiences creating a testy adult life is a focus in this novel: Kyle Amos is smitten with the handsome Tristan only to become aware that ‘kissing with teeth’ has consequences – especially when that ‘blood exchange’ results in a transformation that proves to be a challenge later in life. The ‘altered’ Amos moves to Nowhere, Arizona, avoiding crises such as exposure to sunlight (and more of the ‘dark side’ elements) until the ‘normal’ human man Elias enters his life. How to keep his secret and the accompanying threats poses a fine struggle for romantic love – and Daryl pulls it off splendidly!
With every new work that Daryl Banner pens his stature in the literary world rises another step. Excellent prose renders this dark toned romance credible and involving. Highly recommended...more
‘Secrets that challenge the very fabric of reality’ – an electrifying mission!
Oregon author Cade Mengler makes an impressive debut with THE COMPANIONS‘Secrets that challenge the very fabric of reality’ – an electrifying mission!
Oregon author Cade Mengler makes an impressive debut with THE COMPANIONS, blending fine prose with a keen creation of credible characters to accompany his gift for exploring a fantasy world.
The core of the tale is soundly suggested in the opening pages: ‘The fire crackled and smoked in the cool crisp air. In the distance, there was howling, possibly wolves or werewolves…Chase sat slightly hunched over, staring into the darkness of night. As the fire reflected in his piercing light blue eyes, he was tracking a group of three troll brothers who had been rising hell for the people in the nearby town of Verilwood…trolls are one of the most annoying creatures to track as it requires quite a bit of patience…because trolls only appear at night as the sun can easily cause them to combust…’ Mission established!
One plot summary distills the novel well: ‘Chase, a protector of his world, is on a quest to protect a local town when he discovers an ancient relic. Enlisting the help of his two friends, Flavien an elf and Lucius a bard, they set out to discover the relic’s origins and significance. They soon come to learn that it is linked to an ancient evil and the three are tasked with stopping it. Knowing this will not be an easy task, they recruit a few others to help. However, some of these personalities do not mesh and only create even more problems and stress. Leading to the question can they unite long enough to succeed and save the world from the imminent threat?’
The novel is lengthy, but the writing is so accessible that the pages fly while following the immersive mission in a strange but fascinating fantasy world. ...more

Sharing his career track – first in private practice in the USA then, as HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations) shifted to restrictions and reimbursement quirks, he moved to Asia and learned alternative medicine concepts that enhanced his practice as he returned to the USA. Dr. Chan covers the gamut of themes that enhance longevity – a happy, healthy, long life with independence and stamina and happiness. The sections: how to prevent and reverse cardiovascular disease, brain health (how to prevent strokes and dementia), how to prevent cancer, exercise for longevity (“the cheapest and best anti-aging medicine”), the perfect diet, inflammation, metabolic health and how to reverse diabetes (excellent information about weight loss diabetes meds, bariatric surgery, etc.), Happiness clinic (the 5Fs – fitness, family, finance, fame, fun), Anti-aging, East Meets West (the impact of Cantonese cuisine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, tai chi, gigong) and finally – the Future: AI and medicine, quantum computer AI technology, gene therapy, immunotherapy, stem cell therapy, et al.

Colorado author Mark A. Shaiken earned his degrees from Haverford College and Washburn University and served as an attorney, practicing commercial bankruptcy law. Now retired from law, he writes novels informed by that career: his books to date: AND… JUST LIKE THAT, FRESH START, AUTOMATIC STAY, UNFAIR DISCRIMINATION, and CRAM DOWN. In his debut - AND…JUST LIKE THAT - he shared his experiences with ending his law practice – his post-law days. Now four years later he offers WHAT MAKES ME…ME, a collection of essays about his life since law presented is his inimitable writing style that provides an opportunity for the reader to relate not only to his life experiences but also stimulates self reflection!
Or as he states as the book opens, ‘My essay process is simple: I have things on my mind, I write them down, you read them, and in doing so, I transfer my ideas to your head, and I move on to the next topic. Writing things down gets them out of my brain, hands them off to you, and leaves more space in my head for new stuff. I don't have a monkey brain chattering away at me all the time, but I have lots of notions in there and I share them. Sharing things is my way of trying to figure it all out….anyone who’s been in the law business for a long time, like me, perhaps, maybe, just possibly, could use some therapy. Consider these compositions my therapy sessions with you. I thank you in advance for the couch and your ear...These essays are about my relationship with my life. Maybe, in some ways, just like your life and your relationship with it. So read on and see some of what’s inside my head, my relationship with life, and what has always made me...me.’
In that construct Mark muses on his personality traits, his entry into the author arena, thoughts on pop culture, philosophical reflections, the process of aging, his poetry, and others thoughts delivered with wit, sarcasm at times, insight, tenderness, and in the end, genuine concern and caring about how we all should be ourselves. Poignant – and pertinent – this book is a treasure!...more

Biography author Dr. Don Steele continues his impressive and valuable Legacy Series, placing before the public the achievements and impact of significant people with this survey and tribute to the life of John G. Kulhavi – honored military hero, successful entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and philanthropist. As Steele states, “It’s an honor to capture the life and times of a man who overcomes every obstacle that gets in his way. This military warrior used his fearless approach to battle in all aspect of his life.”
Incorporating interview conversations with Kulhavi and those who have known him, and with photographs, lyrics of pertinent songs, and well-sculpted reportage, Steele successfully presents Kulhavi’s significant life in a fascinating near-novel format. Kulhavi’s early years in Michigan, the impact of his parents and their significant divorce, his high school sports, college years at Central Michigan University (Kulhavi and Steele were roommates), the impact of his ROTC involvement that lead to early training as a helicopter pilot and subsequent deployment to Vietnam in 1967 at the war’s height where he would become a military hero enduring two helicopter crashes while his courage and stamina both battle and medevac missions underscored his concept of ‘leave no soldier behind’ – all of these experiences mold a man of teamwork mindset that carried through to the events of his post war highly successful life as a financier with Merrill Lynch.
In Kulhavi’s words, “You are not selling the products, you are selling the confidence that a person has in you,” and this concept has applied to all aspects of his success, retiring from the Army as a Brigadier General after his contributions to mobilizing troops for the Persian Gulf War (Operations Desert Storm, Desert Sabre and Desert Shield).
Kulhavi’s exemplary philosophy and commitment to teamwork has guided his achievements and accolades for his successes in business, family, and philanthropic contributions. As Steele so aptly summarizes, “This is a true story of the emergence of a relatively poor but industrious young child who grew into a highly decorated military warrior, a world-class financial advisor, a serial entrepreneur, and a very generous philanthropist, yet remains humble and lives a life of gratitude.” A thoroughly entertaining and inspiring book for a very wide audience – very highly recommended....more

North Carolina author J.R. Ellis lives in Louisburg where he ponders the nature of space, time and existence in the Age of Gross Negativity. THE BARUTHA DIVERS is his debut novel, the opening of a series about the Dimensional Horizon.
Ellis writes science fiction based dystopian fantasy and manages to create an entirely unique sphere he calls the Dimensional Horizon. As is often a barrier to involvement in this genre, getting to know the terms and language and strange place challenge the reader. An example of Ellis’ style is evident in the Prologue - ‘A sweltering gust pummeled him, then perished into a pair of dusty whirlwinds as he made his way toward the peak of the ridge ahead, along the crag-strewn path. Night was approaching, and to windward, a dusky sky, clouded with mists and protoplasms, urged him on. He held his memory stone in the palm of his left hand and reached out with yet another cognition. It fell silent, just like the others he’d been sending since 30 degrees post-Zenith. He cursed, placed the coarse-grained rock back in his pocket and trudged on, his eyes down, his mind forward. Ahead, Kweath could just begin to make out the chimney of his terrabode. Now, another puff of wind from the wisoltrean Aeries carried with it the aromas of the Terraces: vendor stalls loaded with freshly-baked sendeles; flagons of mulled Paragai wine and other spirits of Aqua Vitae; roasted, cracked Syena and smoked loin of Narwaselot, liberally seasoned with Jaspheris and scabric pestle. On both sides of his path, the hinterlands were crowded with whips, the ground studded here and there with Stirrup moss and Menemwort. He continued to the top of the next hill, slowing to catch his breath. He clenched his jaw, pausing to survey the Plasaic Nearings and the hazy Astuverican skyline to which they led. There, no more than 4000 neurris to estre, a wall of dust drifted off toward the Serritara plains. Subalternates! he brooded. “Better stay close to home tomorrow,” he mumbled, turning one last time to gaze into the distance, luments fading into the wisoltrean terminus. The stunning grandeur of the Vrikliean Ascents was forever lost on one such as him, his mind crowded as it was with ways and means, the bittersweet taste of survival clinging to his dry tongue. He began his final downhill leg, clearing the last ridge before home. He spotted his consort standing on the stoop of their ‘bode, her stone in hand, her arms crossed, her lips pursed. His pace slowed as he approached her. “What is it?” he asked, expecting nothing good in her looming response. “I cogged you three times, Kweath. You’re late.” “I told you I’d gone to the marisatria, up to the Terraces, to look for Turangien. Remember? I been coggin’ him for the past 80, 90 stratimers.” “Why do you think I’ve been trying to reach you? He’s here!” Point made.
The author provides maps of his sphere and an alphabetically listed glossary and gradually the nomenclature approaches credibility. He adds a synopsis to help us enter his world – ‘’The walls are closing in around Kerak Um.Tiago. Now an outcast, this failed operative had once idolized his lost father and older half-sister, both masters of the craft to which Kerak had devoted his life. But no longer. Once the hunter…now the hunted. Enter the Sphere known as the Dimensional Horizon: a realm of rugged terrain and unfathomable seas, illuminated by winged iridescence, lying above the cavernous architecture of the nebulous Subterra, beneath the deadly Mists of Aurea. Here, the renegade Muricai, on the brink of annihilation, has stood alone to oppose the ruling Triumvirate and its legacy of pillage, subjugation and death. Here, a family, torn apart by time, distance and divided allegiances, is driven somehow to heal, both within and between. A Sphere, ravaged by conflict and darkness, wills itself to do no less. With half-brother and Muricai loyalist Drogan Te.Sinian, Kerak joins forces with the Horizon’s most reviled apostates, exiles cast upon a desolate shore. Forced from sanctuary by the machinations of a distant specter, now begins their tortuous journey to decipher the Circonic, an ancient vault of mnemonic erudition. Its most coveted yields…material, spiritual and psychic…reveal evidence of a looming cataclysm, one which must be directed at the Triumvirate to sever its malicious grip on the very heart and soul of the Dimensional Horizon.’
This is very long story but it grows in the psyche making us wonder where the next narrative will take us.

A completely captivating epic saga – and an invitation to consider all possibilities of AI
Author David Martorano, M.D. brings a plethora of experiencA completely captivating epic saga – and an invitation to consider all possibilities of AI
Author David Martorano, M.D. brings a plethora of experience and skills to his stunning writing debut with IMMORTALITY. He is a psychiatrist, the chief medical officer of Wyoming Behavioral Institute, a consultant on Medical Informatics, a clinical professor of medicine, CEO of a legal outsourcing firm, an inventor, sailor, ski instructor, radio host, and an artist in many fields. He has lived and worked on four continents – Europe, Asia, North America and South America – and his global authenticity underscores the beauty of this novel’s landscapes. His influences: his struggle with the meaning of life and existence, dealing with patients facing life and death decisions, working with psychotic patients, different perceptions of reality, and programming and problem solving (user interface problems).
Dr. Martorano’s fascination with AI is evident in his statement: ‘Artificial Intelligence is going to affect humanity sooner than we realize and more profoundly than many expect.’ He captures the reader’s attention in the Foreward, sharing that this book is “an exploration of Man’s view of himself and the lens through which he perceives a life beyond that of his mortal self. It is a cautionary tale…human beings invite disastrous consequences when capability outstrips competence.” Very much in tune with the current preoccupation with machine talk (cellphone texting, computers substituting for face to face communication, robotics, etc) he invites both an intellectual as well as entertaining understanding of the permutations of discovering as this ‘post apocalyptic AI war explores faith, consciousness, and Immortality’s essence.’
The characters the author creates inhabit both Asia and the American southwest, unveiling mysteries and variations of beliefs in ‘life after’ and in the possibilities of AI with credible, even visual people whose lives become pixels of the greater view of the Universe. The offered summary distils the plot well – ‘In a post-apocalyptic world, the Colony of Babylon flourishes in isolation, guarded by two immortal super-AIs known as the Giants. The colonists live in a technological paradise, while just beyond their borders, the deeply religious New Amish see these advancements as blasphemy and seek to destroy them. Immortalization is within reach, but its cost is unimaginably high. At the core of this tension lies MARTIN (MassiveARTificialINtelligence), the world’s first super AI created by the Santos Corporation. Decades after triggering the Epocalypse and nearly wiping out humanity, MARTIN is reawakened by the New Amish in a desperate attempt to combat the Giants. However, MARTIN harbors its own agenda, one that threatens to reshape humanity’s destiny…the objective story of MARTIN’s resurgence is a profound conflict between Christian beliefs of spiritual salvation and the atheist pursuit of consciousness uploading, and a deep exploration of what consciousness truly means.’
One of the many aspects of this novel that makes it so successful is the author’s ability to engage and challenge our minds with refreshing ideas, performed on fascinating stages by characters who, while wholly credible in this strange realm, become surrogates that aid our intensified exploration of the ethical dilemmas of life after death and the concept of immortality. ‘The journey becomes a metaphor for the whole of our life’ – Thoughts from a gentle philosopher
Nicos Hadjicostis shared his background in writing his ‘The journey becomes a metaphor for the whole of our life’ – Thoughts from a gentle philosopher
Nicos Hadjicostis shared his background in writing his initial book DESTINATION EARTH: ‘I’m a world-traveler, writer, and former businessman. I’m also a master chess player, parrot trainer, olive-oil producer, and more. After studying Physics at King’s College, London, I worked briefly as a journalist in my birthplace Cyprus, and published a Greek-language magazine called “Introspection.” I then created the first private radio station on the island whilst working in our family-owned media group, the largest in Cyprus. In 1999, at the age of 35, I heeded the call of a mid-life crisis and left the business world to retreat to a hillside country house. There, I read books, wrote, and meditated on the meaning of life…’ He and his partner Jane Kayantas now live in Paphos, Cyprus.
In this sensitive book Nicos as philosopher opens by saying, “All of us live two separate lives. These lives inhabit two different worlds. So, we live simultaneously in two different dimensions. In one life we write, or compose, or think, or construct, or produce something. In the other we eat, go to the toilet, run errands, clean the garage, appear at court, sit in the doctors’ waiting room. In the one life we do what we are meant to do – we live “properly,” so to speak. In the other life we are dragged and pulled by the necessary insignificancies of everyday commonality.’ Nicos underscores his thoughts by referencing the radiant poetry of Cavafy, and in doing so he provides a meaningful, eloquent path toward enriching our creative life.
Blending concepts from science (the physics of Newton), music (the insights into Beethoven’s masterpieces), and Cavafy’s life and poetry, the ‘journey’ is traversed with thoughts in the forms of transforming and channeling, coping with the Universe that resists, becoming aware of the ’silent junctures,’ realizing the impact of self-betrayal and connections, and the path from imitation to creativity – ‘circumambulation.’ Every step of this effulgent book fuses Nicos’ insights with excerpts from Cavafy’s illuminating poetry. The result – enlightenment and extraordinary guidance for self- actualization and enrichment.
This book is one of the finest volumes for embracing the truly creative life – a book that deserves awards it will likely merit, and will increase the growing respect and honor for author Nicos Hadjicostis. Very highly recommended ...more

New York author James Ryan is a West Point graduate and holds advanced degrees in Economics and in English Literature. His books to date include SHOUTS, TALES OF THE WOODS, TEMPLE LEGACY, and now GOD’S PALE HORSE. Ryan’s poetry, literary criticism, fiction, and political commentary have been posted in numerous publications.
With fervor and a sharp-edged writing sword, Ryan examines the shameful history of conquering indigenous people from 12th century Rome to the present, with emphasis on the cruel beginnings of the destruction and extirpation of American Indians by colonists in the name of biblical right. As he offers, ‘The new world in the Americas was a Paradise of sorts, inhabited by vast numbers of indigenous people. They worshipped the land and its creatures indeed the entire ecosystem. The land was their God. All this would change with the arrival of Columbus and the Europeans with their murderous scabbards, toxic exhalations and racist, murderous Christian playbook, their Bible. The unparalleled bloody mayhem brought against the North American Indians by the post-Columbian colonists was fully authorized by the papacy. The de facto owner of the earth was the pope who claimed ownership in God’s name…’ Ryan explains the cruelty of European armaments destruction of food resources, biological warfare (European diseases), mass murder, forced relocation, larceny, and drug trafficking, all under the aegis of following the Scripture. ‘For centuries, God’s bells tolled the death knell of the Indian civilizations of South, Central, and North America.’
Well researched and skillfully written, James Ryan calls attention to the history of (and the contemporary persistence of) racism, and in doing so he elicits reflection and determination to quell the problem. Important information and an involving read!...more

The magic and mystery of this luminous fantasy novel begins with the name(s) of the author(s) – Aaron and Allen Hillsbery: are they actually two men, identical twins, who according the bio data live in the Pacific Northwest, or are they two facets of one creative mind? A nice puzzle to initiate this very clever and captivating fantasy novel!
The Universe in this tale is actually Eternity with many worlds; one inhabited by Aryssa Mathis, a regent of the magic capable Invoker Corum, and another – Earth - where Michael Weller lives a simple, very ordinary existence. With thundering magic the two meet and their individual needs become mutual as Michel assists Aryssa on her mission to make the Universe stable through the power of magic. For those unfamiliar with the writing art of Tim Tigner, his credentials for his role as a novelist specializing in polAn amazingly fine new thriller!
For those unfamiliar with the writing art of Tim Tigner, his credentials for his role as a novelist specializing in political intrigue and thrillers are impressive. His academic preparation is a combination of mathematics and philosophy with psychology and radiology, but after academia his instinct for investigation and thrill seeking led him to serve in the Green Berets, specializing in Russian and Soviet counterintelligence. When Perestroika/Glasnost ‘opened’ Russia (or at least by their definition made it more transparent) leading to the fall of the Berlin Wall, Tigner’s direction shifted from espionage to arbitrage and he moved from Russia to Brussels where he witnessed the formation of the European Union. His change in focus shifted back to the US, obtaining further degrees in business and International Studies, and he settled in the Silicon Valley as a corporate type in the medical device industry. And as if that background weren’t sufficient, he continued his travels around the world expending energy as scuba diver, skier, actor, mountain climber, a hand glider, a parachuter, and in every sense of the word an adventurer. Now he follows his obsession with reading thrillers by writing them.
TWISTED LIVES is the third installment in his admirable Watch What You Wish For series, following closely the canvas of THE PRICE OF TIME and STOLEN THOUGHTS. He carefully choreographs the crises in a Federal Air Marshall’s life – from dealing with an act of aggression on a plane flight, to discovering the death of his wife upon awakening and the obvious assaults on his innocence, and his subsequent plight in finding the true killer…what seems like a challenge for creating credible characters and events results in a wholly successful new novel delivered by the artistically gifted Tigner.
