I loved this series but this last book was a bit long for me & dragged in places. It all wrapped up quite nicely in the end though. Beastly, also by Flinn, is a favorite of mine, but I didn't enjoy this continuing story of the witch who cursed the boy in Beastly nearly as much. I think it would have more appeal to teens because of the contradictory actions of the witch. Teens are the intended audience & they probably will relate better to the characters than I did. This book is a mix of fairytale fantasy with some historical fiction added in. I was just not able to accept some of the plotlines. I recommend it for teen readers....more

She has to gather 5 extremely valuable items to even attempt to create a new Philosopher's Stone & has very little time to succeed in what seems to be an impossible quest, before the demon destroys the world.
Interesting premise but the book could be a bit better-written. I would recommend it for younger or less sophisticated teen readers....more

It's a version of Snow White that takes place in West Virginia in the 1930s & 40s. Having visited there myself, I could picture the graveyard and old church in the hills where Snow's mother was buried. A great fairy tale read for ages 11 & up....more
