a note. i read this a little while back before i went to dc and visited the holocaust memorial + i feel very lucky that my school made the trip and eda note. i read this a little while back before i went to dc and visited the holocaust memorial + i feel very lucky that my school made the trip and educated me on this topic. when going through the museum, my class learned about how the holocaust became the systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million jews by the nazi regime and its allies and collaborators. the novel night’s key purpose, as stated by elie wiesel, is to make us remember. there was a quote written on the wall of the memorial that talked about how the one comfort the author (elie) hoped to have is that the genocide that he witnessed will never happen in the future, and it makes me feel terribly sad that history might always repeat itself. ...more
