The story follows Fabriciano Garcia, known as the Ghost of the Rio Grande, who inadvertently becomes entangled in an international plot by Germany to instigate a war between the United States and Mexico. Hunted by the Texas Rangers after killing one of their own, Fabriciano evades capture and forms an unlikely alliance with a Frenchman named Francois LaBorde to thwart Germany's scheme.
Throughout the narrative, Fabriciano encounters prominent historical figures such as General Pershing, Lieutenant Patton, Pancho Villa, and Mata Hari, adding depth to the story's setting and historical context. Despite the authors' creative liberties, the novel effectively captures the tensions of the era, particularly along the Mexico-Texas border, during the lead-up to World War I.
The authors adeptly blend fiction with historical facts, shedding light on the clandestine maneuvers of Germany and other nations during the war. However, some readers may find the absence of the pivotal Zimmermann telegram disappointing. Character development is compelling, with Fabriciano evolving from an unlikely hero to a swashbuckling figure reminiscent of Zorro. The plot unfolds seamlessly against the backdrop of historical events, making the book ripe for cinematic adaptation.
In conclusion, "The Ghost of the Rio Grande" offers an engaging read for mature young adults and adults interested in World War I and North American history. It combines thrilling adventure with informative insights, making it a compelling choice for readers seeking both entertainment and historical knowledge....more

I liked the way the plot was brought to light with each character and their peculiar traits, I saw the different characters evolve especially Lorraine who's my favorite character by the way, she somewhat reminds me of myself.
I honestly don't have an issue with the book apart from the slight errors I noticed. I'm really waiting for the next part of the book. I need to know what happens next....more
