I visited Cheltenham after i read a reference in a Noel Coward's novel (Pomp& Circumstances, a very funny novel and Cheltham was like I was expecting). All this blah blah because this is a new instalment in a series that always makes me smile, turning pages, and guessing. I found some moments in this story poignant, other heartbreaking. It made me smile but there was some more sadness. I was delighted to catch up with the pleasant and well-developed characters. Julia, Sam, and Jake are as lovely as usual. There's plenty of twists in the solid mystery and I enjoyed the final twist. I cannot wait for the next novel, this one was very entertaining. Highly recommended. Somehow I found this darker than usual with echoes of the classic story about the condition of life in countryside at the beginning of XX century and how the ownership of the land could cause serious riff in families and a lost love can the cause of lasting rage. Kitty and Matt are investigating but I think that the two families at the center of the story were quite intriguing as they're at the centre of a storm of emotions: hate, love, greed, envy. If you are a bit squeamish please note that the first murder could be a bit gore even if there's no details or graphic descriptions. Ms Dixon delivers another gripping, twisty, and entertaining solid mystery that i thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommended. Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine...more

This is not a favorite even if it's entertaining and the mystery kept me guessing. It's the most complicated installment in the series, sometimes a bit confusing: too many suspects, to many read herrings. I loved it as I consider Nell, Rav, James, and the other characters as sort of book friends and I’m always delighted to catch up with the pleasant and well-developed characters of this series. A complex and intriguI love Ireland: the myths, the lore, the timeless panorama, and the contrast between the high-tech industry and the countryside. A complex and intriguing country that has captured a piece of my heart. I think that almost everyone dreams of inheriting a shop in a lovely postcard picture village. So suspend your disbelief and be ready to travel to rural Ireland, meet the residents, and see how Mercy and Lizzie, true New Yorkers, are adapting to the idea of a previously unknown grandfather and a different way of living. They also have to find the culprit of a murder, as Mercy is the main suspect. I had fun and enjoyed this immersive experience as I read and listened to the audiobook. The voices added layers and made the characters three-dimensional and relatable. It’s the first in a series, and I’m curious about the next instalment. The mystery is well done and never takes a backseat: there are no plot holes, and there are enough surprising twists to keep your attention alive. The solution was unexpected and satisfying. Entertaining and compelling, recommended. Many thanks to Bookouture for this digital copy and audiobook, all opinions are mine. ...more
