While investigating a brutal stabbing FBI Special Agent Bailey Flynn discovers that this crime is linked to the murder of an unidentified woman with connection to a notorious crime cartel. Melinda Woodhall’s books are so addictive I cannot resist getting them. Melinda stories never disappoint and this latest proves once again that she is at the top of the game. She knows how to weave an intense, disturbing and scary story to keep us captivated till the very end. Of course at the forefront is a well plan murder investigation: the hunt for a mad man that was so obsessed by a woman rejection that he killed her or was his action simple revenge...or a cartel payback. What did she do?..... Of course it is for the reader to discover.
Ms. Woodhall keeps focus on her protagonist as she works her case. The action is steady and the pacing is smooth not at all bog down with too unnecessary details. The narrative and dialogue are energetic, keeping a good tempo all though. I also appreciate how the author never forgets to add a few surprises along the way, some twists to derail us and a few new characters to get to know.
Although this latest is part of a series it can be read by its own

Lindsey Barned is the main character in this story and Detective Jack Tucker is a strong secondary player both made this storUndaunted Courage Book #2
Lindsey Barned is the main character in this story and Detective Jack Tucker is a strong secondary player both made this story and exciting read.
The story in a few words:
Lindsey has much going for her and is trying to stay one step ahead of the trauma experienced years ago till the day she thought she was losing her mind and find herself in the middle of another crisis. Not only she is the sole witness in a high-profile murder case but her sanity is in question....Then come into play Detective Jack Tucker to save the day.....
My thoughts:
Ms. Hannon never fails to give us a captivating story that will be hard to put down and will pin us down and on the edge of our seat till we reach the conclusion. This latest adds a tad of psychological aspect by playing with her protagonist’s mind: is Lindsey losing her mind or not? Is she seeing things that were never there?
The very handsome Detective Tucker tries to make sense of the information Lindsey is provided but wants not only to believe her but put an end to the mystery. Doing so, Tucker faces a multitude of twists and counter twists to derail him and us as reader questioning is we may have figured out the right whodunit....Three quarters in I had an idea who it may be...hey I was half right. Of course the two of them working closely together the inevitable happened and both had twinkles in their eyes... awe.....
This story is well-written: clean with a tiny bit of romance, a small amount of faith and lots and lots of suspense.

Although this book is part of a series ”Unbalanced” stands very well by its own but once you read one book you will be so captivated you will want more. This series is an immensely entertaining.
In “Unbalanced”, P.I. Jake and Nicole are asked to pick up some papers from a realtor’s business. When they reached the office they found the body of Carl Davis, the realtor, dead from a single gunshot to the head. Who did this? A long list of suspects with motives makes this case a tough one. Working along with Pancake, their associate, they dive into this complex mystery....and discover that Carl’s partner may have skimmed and stashed $300,000 in offshore accounts. The mystery deepens and we find ourselves in the middle of a hunt for the truth.
This is a poignant and funny tale with clever plot twists that will surprise most of us. It is said with a prose that is not only smart but also stylish and is intercepted by snappy dialogue to make us smile. I love the characters; Jake is a true original, smart and funny; Pancake still has his feeding frenzies every time he has a chance. Boy that character loves to eat, drink and smoke. Nicole pulls her own and is essential to the dynamic of the group. With millions at stake and a murder to solve they had to work with the police department and blossoming behind the scenes is an attraction between Pancake and a very attractive police officer...awe.
This was supposed to be a simple task. Five minutes tops....
I simply love this story D.P. Lyle is an author to watch..

This story concerns the theft of valuable paintings and other antiques from a house of an elderly woman who died a short time lateRoy Grace volume # 9
This story concerns the theft of valuable paintings and other antiques from a house of an elderly woman who died a short time later from the savage beating sustained during the robbery, Aileen McWhirter was 98 years old. Her younger brother Gavin is not only shocked and saddened by this tragedy but is particularly upset about the disappearance of a treasured watch. Detective Superintendent Roy Grace will head the enquiry and finds himself following a murderous race against the clock....and us in another very exciting saga.
The story opens in 1920’s New York when a boy’s mother is killed and the father kidnapped by hard looking men. Then the story quickly moves to Brighton present day with Grace investigating the home invasion. The story unfolds gradually with these two events on both sides of the Atlantic. Back and forth we go. I quite like the way the two different time periods come back together especially at the end. In tandem with the main story but not really a part of it is that someone is after Roy and his family and wants desperately to pull them apart even killed them. Grace nemesis, Amis Smallbone, definitely has a twisted obsession for revenge against our protagonist.
I love how Mr. James is able to takes ideas and make it seem real and believable such as the antiques trade and the psychology of revenge. The cast of characters is great I particularly loved Roy’s relationship with Cleo and their baby Noah which is very well-done in my books. Grace and his team of investigators also work superbly well together. They dig out clues and drive the investigation along while building tension for us to stay riveted till the very end, another plus. Of course the bad guys are interesting and their part give traction even more to this very exciting drama. Oh! Sandy as always has her usual snippet to tease us...what will she do?. Said with short chapters, this gripping tale is a masterful juggling act for the author as well as for Grace.
There is a lot I could mention going on here but I have to leave some for you to discover. This story is so smooth; I zipped through it in no time....more
Lawyer Andy Carpenter defends Brian Bremer, a Rutgers student, accused of killing his professor, Prof Steven Rayburn,An Andy Carpenter Novel volume 30
Lawyer Andy Carpenter defends Brian Bremer, a Rutgers student, accused of killing his professor, Prof Steven Rayburn, over the grade on one of his assignments. Apart from the flimsy motive, the evidence is dismayingly strong but despite all the claims against his client Andy will not be deterred in anyways and will not take long for him to unmask the true killer.
Don’t fool yourself with the Christmas book cover this latest can be read at any time and doesn’t need to follow its predecessor to enjoy. So go for it.
I simply love the humoristic tone all through; not funny out loud but the happy grin never left my face. Andy has a dry, sarcastic sense of humour and says anything with wit. His comments really hit the spot in my books. The plot is intriguing as it slowly develops the action gets exciting and we see Andy at his best. Since this is not my first experience with Mr. Rosenfelft style, I can say he has adopted a formula that suits him just fine and he is sticking to it but never forgets to give us a fresh and captivating story to enjoy. We have recurring actors that never stop pleasing the readers: Tara, a golden retriever, Hunter, a pug, Sebastian. A basset hound and the star, Murphy the terrier, Andy’s wife...Laurie also the regular cast have parts to help things move along. Oh yes we have courtroom scenes ... imaginative and entertaining.
This is a fun series. I am looking forward to Andy’s next drama.

Attorney Rob Jacobson is asked by his lifelong best friend, the former President of the U.S., to defend him when he is accused of murdA Legal thriller
Attorney Rob Jacobson is asked by his lifelong best friend, the former President of the U.S., to defend him when he is accused of murdering his mistress. Typical of many powerful men, the president has anger issues, some unconventional sexual habits and can be an unpleasant man. As the high-profile case unfurls their past complicate Rob’s efforts and doubts begin to take roots in his head: could his friend be capable of murder?.....politic aside let the trial begin...
The thriller is mostly entertainment it starts at a snail pace and keeps pretty much that tempo till the end. We have intensive background on both the president and the defence attorney and through the story tid-bits of memories show up. By the end we pretty well know these two characters and what makes them tick.
I loved the court shenanigan the back and forth between the defence and the prosecutor was active and well-done, mostly amusing. Following the court proceedings there is a fair amount of edge-of- your seat action with a few surprises tossed in. Rob defends Jack and will prove his innocence in the trial of the century with all one’s might.
This story is written by a man familiar around a courtroom and knows how to pull his readers into the drama. Once in the courtroom I couldn’t put this book aside. The story is narrated mostly by Rob although by the end one unknown character share his voice setting doubts and second guessing who the killer may be..... Wow what a mind-blowing ending.....
This story is a quick read, entertaining and suspenseful.

This recreation of what life could have been during this grueling time is brought to us through the eyes of American Katrina Winslow who is accused of spying and had to risk her life to protect war orphans caught in the crossfire as the Serbians plot to destroy Mostar. While Croatian Captain Lucien Brezac helps Katerina to save the innocent. Their story is heart-pounding......
What a thrilling novel that tells us the experience in the Balkans. It may be a fiction but the events are historic. This well-written story places us front and center in the conflicts of several Yugoslavian republics. The prose brings to life the terrifying realities of war as Katerina and Lucien navigate the treacherous web of intrigue and violence. Flipping the pages rapidly to see if they will succeed in the quest to save the children and Mostar from destruction couldn’t have been done fast enough. This is one exciting journey that smoothly sails from the beginning till its closing chapter. Embarking on a journey of love and survival with Katerina and Lucien was a chilling experience and a hard one to fathom.
As the story navigates through unknown regions it was quite challenging to follow I wished I had a map in front of me I really couldn’t visualize where I was and who were all those characters one I definitely remember Slobodan Milosevic.. We come across a lot of characters to keep track of, so pay attention or you will have to reread some parts as I did.
The varied reasons for the country’s breakup ranged from the cultural and religious divisions between the ethnic groups this story does an excellent job highlighting this fact. You will come across a lot of praying, I guess being in their shoes I would have perhaps done the same...
No doubt this is a difficult read but so is war. The author tells us that she took liberty in the timing and events for the sake of the narrative and all inaccuracy is on her. After all this book is a fiction not a dissertation and we should take it as such.
My thanks to the publisher for giving me the privilege to review this story. ...more

Sandy Corrigan used to be called Diamond when she was an escort spending time in hotel rooms catering to unfaithful men until she escaped and left her old life behind...so she thought. Till one day a girl from her past reappears and asks Sandy to investigate the disappearance of a young girl....Sandy finds herself back into a web of corruption, sex, evil pimps and murder.....and us as reader into one of those exciting drama.
Rooting for Sandy was easy for me. “Go girl you got this” This newly minted P.I. had such a checkered past and used it to her advantage to pursuit her goal and brought us deep into a world that is as corrupt and as dangerous one can imagine. The pacing is rapid till the very end and is written with a solid understanding of human trafficking and the sinister side few have ever seen. This multi-layers story involving a call girl who seeks justice for sex trade workers is one of the best I have read. The story is told from the main character’s perspective and oozes with suspense, it is brilliantly said. From the first page Sandy’s character shines.
“Diamond Cut” focusses on real-life tragedies: human trafficking and contemporary slavery.

Former homicide detective hunter Rayne finds himself the prime suspect in the RCMP’s hunt for “The Chairlift Killer” what a way to spoil his weekend at Whistler and putting a lid on a potential romance. He has no choice but to get involved in order to clear his name.
The believable and interesting plot aids the story to move along well enough to hold attention till the last page. Of course this is a relaxed and cozy read with some rough patches. After all, the entire story is about a murder investigation leaving Hunter relationship on hold. It is easy to get irritated with him and how he interacts with the opposite sex at times but what woman does not love a tall silent type persona, he surely fits the profile. There were odd bits of dialogue and some funny moments to make us smile but not much is really exciting or even captivating.
Although this is a well-written book with pretty good characters “Sea to Sky” brings nothing new to the genre. Hunter now a truck driver will always be a RCMP at heart and “will uphold the right and always get his man” (official motto of the RCMP)

This book was a promotion I picked up a few years back and it finally reached the top of my very very long list of kindle books, books I rarely open. This story really caught me by surprise being described as a Christian fiction and focussing on religion and spirituality definitely is not a type of book I would usually go for, then why did I ask for it?
After reading it I can say I enjoy this well-written page turner and did not mind the very small parts pertaining to moments of faith since every religious element were subdued and did not interfere with the pacing and my enjoyment.
What an interesting, intricate and easily believable plot it turned out to be. There is a lot of action and dialogue and the writing is done with excellence. This first novel features intelligence officer Titus Ray, a man trained in lies now on the run from Iranian secret police. A group of Iranian Christians manages to smuggle him out of Iran to eventually end up in the States...there things got out of hand...
By grapping my attention from the beginning and never let go this well thought out plot has given me an exceptional journey filled with suspense. The first person narration, always wins me.

What a breathless game of cat and mouse this turned out to be and what an exciting read. It opens in Switzerland with Caspian, code name “Elias” a black operative working for the Department of Homeland Security is sent on a killing mission to take out a banker by the name of Leonard Alrich who has deep ties to human trafficking. While Caspian’s girlfriend Liesel an accountant with ties to intelligence agency does her thing. Both love birds have no knowledge that they are working on different sides of the same problem nor do they know of each true identity....The story immerses us in both character’s worlds and along the way gives us a thrilling ride.
When Caspian unearths a conspiracy implicating political figures his mission takes a turn sideways....but for us.... step aside Jason Bourne we are into one of those high-flying story that gives us pulse and heart-pounding action sequences one can wish for. Along the way we are taken through a web of lies and secrets while the sweet and tender moments between Caspian and Liesel give us a well needed break.
This story is a joy to read even if there is a lot to unpack spy vs spy vs spy and back and forth, trust and mistrust at every corner what a way to keep you tuned in. The multiple characters that cross the pages just add to the complexity of this well-said and well-plotted drama.

New York, 1940 an explosion at the World’s Fair leaves the city on edge. A pipe bomb is found hidden in a red sock… the first device of the sort delivered leaving a strong message to the city. Who is this madman leaving a trail of devastation and brought three detectives at the heart of this nightmarish puzzle.
My thoughts:
I had a terrible time with this story and apologize to the author for not giving him full credits. I was hooked by the cover story I though stepping aside from my usual read would give me another view I rarely step unto. My error.
What I found excellently done is the story has a feel of authenticity: men in the 40’s wore spiffy clothes, fedora hats, had greasy hair and depending of the job status used very colourful languages: picture them holding a cigarette in one hand and whiskey in the other hand chatting with their colleagues and criticizing their wives. We read this page after pages yes once in a while they are sent on a defusing mission… But the development is so slow I actually had to skip pages of never ending day to day life till yes once in a while they have a bomb to diffuse. In my books the exciting parts are too short and lack excitement…. Or was my negativity regarding this story the fact that I skipped too many pages?
This story did not gel for me but you may like it, so don’t judge this story by my feelings give it a go if the hypnosis appeals to you.

Sara’s journey immerses us into the horrors of Auschwitz and gives us a glimpse what life was for the displaced persons in camps around Europe. Through the eyes of Sara a lot is said including the obstacles Jews faced in trying to enter Palestine.
All stories during this time are heart-wrenching and compelling this one is no exception. Apart from giving us a large timeline, this version of events recounts and rehashes the same experiences endured by the prisoners. We can find numerous books recounting these events. Nothing new here for those who are a fan and have read books of this era before.
Having said this “The Seamstress of Auschwitz “is nevertheless a very well- written and well-paced story and reading it you won’t get bogged down with unnecessary details. Even if I read many stories covering the camps in the past, I still had a hard time leaving my emotions in check flipping through the pages.
Ms. McAdam’s version is well crafted and powerful but to my eyes did not bring anything new.

Kenzie King has earned her place as a tactical medic on a SWAT team, a world dominated by all-male. ShLake City Heroes book #2
Synopsis in a few words:
Kenzie King has earned her place as a tactical medic on a SWAT team, a world dominated by all-male. She soon finds out that her arrival has rocked the boat and that not everyone on the team accepts her but she is committed to the job and will have to prove she is as good as they are....She soon finds herself caught between a cold case and a threat to her life.... Cole Garrison, her team leader, will help her navigate while they work to crack the case and find the culprit who is threatening her.
My thoughts:
The story:
The plot gives us a little of everything: lots of intrigue, high-octane action packed with many twists, slow and steady pacing, a bit of poignant moments, some soft romance to spike the narrative and clean humour to make us smile but most of all keeps us interested till the very end. The romance is sweet and clean as expected with Ms. Eason.
We have two timeline criss-crossing each other one is the contemporary story and the other takes us back to 1940. I love the backstory a lot. Eventually they connected and smoothly blend into an entertaining saga.
The characters:
Kenzie King is the image of women who pierced gender inequality with resilience determination and tenacity and faced challenges with courage and strength. By the end she won her colleagues respect and accepted as an equal member of the team.
With his big heart, protective instincts and indomitable spirits Cole Garrison’s dynamic personality brings heartwarming feelings to this inspiring tale.
The SWAT team is a group of tight-knit and courageous bunch of friends (colleagues) looking out for one another. The story is filled with their interactions.
Conclusion:
Well-written and said this story published by Revell is a clean read and meant for everyone.
Although “Target Acquired” is part of a series it stands well on its own.

This thriller takes places in Thailand and in Cambodia and exposes the dark underbelly of paradise. Investigator Dotan NaA Dotan Naor Thriller book #3
This thriller takes places in Thailand and in Cambodia and exposes the dark underbelly of paradise. Investigator Dotan Naor takes on the case of Eden, the daughter of a wealthy couple who vanished without a trace from the beaches of Thailand. Join by Iris, the young woman’s mother, they delve into the mystery and soon find out the link to a sinister real estate deal gone wrong and must navigate a treacherous maze of Russian and Israeli mafia, human trafficking and dark business dealings.....
My thoughts:
First of all be warned those sensitive with crude words may be offended, I was not one of them reading about the underworld bring foul language or should I say very colourful language. The story is peppered with them again you have to set your mind that this story navigates in an immoral and corrupt world.
Dealing with tugs, Bratva and Israeli mafia and a multitude of corrupt officials is a rough task to face. Mr. Zur gives Dotan, ex-Mossad, all the tolls needed for the job and he excels doing it. Following Dotan and Iris is very suspenseful they definitely not on a pleasure trip. The tension is high and I couldn’t read fast enough to see how things would turn out. Really I stayed on edge all through: action packed and very tense following these two. This hunt for the missing girl is a pulse-pounding race against time very hard not to be engaged in.
It all started with Eden’s father who had his own agenda being in deep financial trouble owing organized crime a lot of money which he couldn’t pay back. No wonder the mob took Eden and kept her well-hidden till he cough up the cash, if he doesn’t pay up she will be sold. Time is pressing Dotan needs to recues her. Did he succeed?....haha I urge you to get this book.
“Child of Dust” is very well-written to give us a message about official corruption, dark dealings, tourism prostitution and human trafficking especially of selling little girls to rich degenerates. You will meet a lot of characters but no worries they are easy to follow.

The story in a few words:
Jack and his partner Natasha are searching for the person who is responsible for tuning Jack an Olympic track athlete into a brutal hit man. This cloak and dagger quest will bring them to Prague to end up at a mystical castle off the coast of France. Along the way they will face an ambush by the agents of KIRO, an unexpected betrayal and a devastating plan to control the world’s communication....Every one’s life is on the line even those dear to Jack.
My thoughts:
What an exciting conspiracy Jack faces with many twists and turns and ups and downs to overcome. Along the way Jack is having a hard time with the knowledge that he has been brainwashed by a cult to do their bidding. The first person narrative reflects his inner turmoil...it so feels as he is speaking to you. I favour the first person narrative by a long shot.
It is so captivating when the KIRO assassins attempt to kill Jack and Natasha failed and deeper and deeper they see themselves smack into a ploy that will bring all communication down. They must to do their best to thwart it and save the wold. Hold on to your seats you in for a ride. Excellently done all loose ends unanswered from the previous story are neatly tied leaving us to believe this may be the end of this series...but no...”The Curator” ends “à la James Bond” with all the bing bang and the obligatory escape and all ends well.

Although I haven’t read the previous installments I had no trouble getting into this book. Mr. Lyle gives us little background but enough to get the drift and move on and enjoy his latest. “Cultured” rips a page right out of the famous Jeffrey Epstein saga and is freaky to no end.
Said in a mischievous tone we have a story that soon turns quite dark but is so interesting I stayed captive till the very end. It opens when April Wilkerson dropped off the radar after becoming involved in a self-help and enlightenment retreat TLM (The Lindemann Method) that recruits wealthy people and promises enormous financial returns. April is an attractive, smart and culture individual although she doesn’t have the $120,000 membership fee needed is willing to work as a hostess.....Now do I have to go any further.....
What a story the author spins on us. Of course I omitted a lot that is said in this novel to pique interest...don’t miss this. The writing is great and as the layers peel away...darker edges appear. Does TLM make money for his investors or is this just an expensive scam? The prose is stylish, smart and compelling all this is wrapped up in a clever plot filled with twists to surprise even the hard core mystery seeker. This is definitely a juicy mystery told with snapping dialogue and played by fun characters. Jake, a former Major league pitcher and reluctant P.I and his girlfriend, Nicole are the protagonists that saved the day finding April and all the girls that went missing...and put an end to TLM.
This story is fast-paced, slick and a page-turner I devoured in no time.

The story n a few words:
Books by Melinda Woodhall are addictive and a breeze to read. In this latest adventure she pins her protagonist against a vengeful killer who carries out an insidious plan of death and retribution. Bailey must delve into a criminal world of corruption, deceit and murder and find the killer before he can kill again...but time is running out.
“Chasing Monsters” picks up where book #2 left us, so it is important to read this series in order.
My thoughts:
We are into an action packed journey as we follow Bailey and her loyal partner Ludwig, her search and rescuer dog, into numerous path many dead end ones looking for the whodunit. She runs the show, nothing will stop her in finding the identity of the murdered person, running DNA test, visiting prisoners to get information. She is a real Pitbull nothing will get in her way. She digs so much that she becomes a target to be silenced and dragging her family along the way.
As the body mounts she is more determined to catch the monsters and the tension is at its highest level. Nothing can be better to pin us down into a thrilling ride, biting our nail till the very end than an exciting plot. Although this story may be about murder it is not gruesome, we do not have vivid torture scenes or descriptive accounts of how attacks were done. It is done softly and with taste but it seemed a little unrealistic.
Of course Ms. Woodhall did not forget to inject Bailey’s personal life into her drama to soften things; a touch of romance will do the trick. I like the characters but still Ludwig wins the best actor award.
I am a fan of this author and I will be looking forward for her next book.

Rock superstar Gaia is chosen to play the leading role as Maria Fitzherbert in the biggest Hollywood production. The greatest love story between King George 1V and Maria Fitzherbert is to be filmed on location in Brighton and Hove.
An obsessed stalker is after Gaia who may have followed her to the UK it is up to Detective Superintendent Roy Grace to make sure she stays safe. Meanwhile, a torso is discovered on a chicken farm and Roy Grace is soon to be father. The two ongoing plot move beautifully well. To put salt on everything, Grace’s missing wife Sandy is messing around.....oh boy....That part I simply loved, how to add tension to a plot this author has a hack in doing so. All this is neatly entwined to make a coherent and engaging tale full of distractions: twists and turns sure thing to have us turning the pages.
“Not Dead Yet” is an enjoyable read, a suspenseful police procedural hard to put aside. This is definitely a classic crime novel which has everything I look for. The main character is a lady Ga Ga hybrid, an international celebrity with a big ego who will play the role as mistress to the King. Her role may be farfetched but it is well done to captivate us well least it did to me. M. James blurs the fact and fiction a lot in this production but having limited knowledge of Royalty in England, anything goes as long as the plot is captivating. The pace is good and the plot reads well. The characters are excellent players and I loved following the recurring ones through their long saga. Yes I up to read the next on “Dead Man’s Time”.
I think it is important to read this series in order otherwise one may think this latest is a bit silly....more
