These books are as cheap as her wine. Power is talked about but rarely evidenced. The climax didn't even start until90%. Everything about it was stupid and weak. The words are there but typing them feels like work. Like I’m going to obsess over getting it right. Like it’s going to take so much effort to make my point I don’t know if it’s worth it. The MC handling of her brother is wrong. The authors handling of the options Bree has with Adam are wrong. Their mother isn’t given enough word count. Isn’t taken enough into account with what Bree has to offer Adam. This is a book but I feel bad for Adam. The POV of Adam owning that property makes me angry but it would take to many words to explain. A father like that isn’t home 24/7. Ugh I just can’t. The Author gets some things right to. The way scenes can play in your head when you visit a place like that after a long time has passed and you go back to it. The way flashbacks work. It’s just as bad as when it originally happened. Worse maybe because now your an adult. When you come of it and the endorphins are still going strong you want to confront them/the situation as you are now. It’s to late it already happened the only thing in front of you is bewildered people and a panic attack. I don’t know why I’m bothering with this review. ...more

The mystery portion of the story was well done. As a strong reader I'm very good at unraveling the mystery and usually avoid this kind of book. I am happy to report I was uncommitted to who done it for almost all the book. The red herrings were organic to the story. The supporting cast was adequate if not unique or interesting. More could've been done to make her sister feel more complex and real to the reader. The core of the story I may be uniquely qualified to review. She did great representing the personalities that might come out of a home with that background. She covered the events and the emotions well without it being triggering to a survivor, not one years removed from the experience. I will keep reading the series....more

Instead they let the family line of two of the best die! A man who took Pitt and Esme under his wing like he did wouldn't want children? NOT believable.
