Hannah Brooks is consumed by her career as an Executive Protective Agent (bodyguard) so much that she doesn’t really put any focus towards personal relationships. That’s until she gets assigned to Jack Stapleton— Yes, the Jack Stapleton— and is forced to stay with him and his family for several weeks as a stalker situation presents a threat. But will it be more than Hannah bargained for?
There were many things I liked about this:
1) A plot fueled by dialogue. For me, this makes for the best rom com reading experience.
2) I liked how Hannah didn’t try to hide that she freaking out about fake dating a celebrity. I mean, if I were forced to fake date Zac Efron, I totally would be freaking out on the inside. She wasn’t the “I hated this celebrity” type person or the “I never saw him in anything”. It felt like a very plausible reaction for someone.
3) Something happens at the end that almost made my heart stop. I was like “wait, what??” I enjoy high stakes in these stories, so that was really fun.
All in all, it was a quick read. A fun read. A cute read. And I would absolutely read it again....more

Ahhhh. I did not think I’d like this book as much as I did. I usually read the first page before buying a book just to see if I enjoy the writing, and reading this in Barnes and Noble I was like “okay, yep, this passes test one.” What I didn’t know was what awaited was a fast-paced fantastical story of love, revenge and crazy twists.
Evangeline Fox was a great character who made a great mistake. She was a bold and strong lead who recognized her mistake but didn’t feel sorry for herself. (I find that sometimes happens in these types of books and was happy it wasn’t the case). I also loved Jacks as that devious, sexy man of mystery whose interest in Evangeline grows into something of longing.
The cast of characters really made the story. It’s hard to mention them all without really ruining the plot. But I loved learning about all the magical places and myths of the North and some of the creepiness that accompanies it. It’s truly a dark fairytale with themes of hope and light sprinkled into it.
It also ended way too soon. I literally read the last chapter, and flipped to the next page just to read “Acknowledgements”. So what did I do immediately after? You guessed it, I pre-ordered the next one.
As someone who (like so many others) has suffered a broken heart, I could somewhat relate to the main character… maybe not go quite to the extremes she does, but it made for a relatable tale full of magic and mystery and I’m super excited for the Ballad of Never After....more

Likewise, he’s been in love with her. The thing is, they just don’t know it yet.
This book is cute, funny and sexy; a great escape. It’s everything you’d want in a rom com. The chapters alternate between Nathan and Bree, so you get different perspectives and it just warms your heart. Of course, it’s a little corny, just as a rom com should be. “The Cheat Sheet” is such an easy read. It’s a closed door romance, but don’t worry, it’s plenty smexy. In a way, it’s a little (barely) but a little reminiscent of “The Game Plan” (2007).
Oh, and I can’t forget!! There’s a disclaimer about the mention of panic attacks because one of the characters (I won’t say who) experiences them. This is definitely a topic that should be normalized because it’s so common, and I applaud Sarah Adams for incorporating it into the novel. If you experience panic attacks, just know you that your feelings are valid, and you are not alone.
