I'll admit it, I accept it, I embrace it. Whether I love or merely like each of her individual books, I know I will always get a great story that draws me in and holds me in her grasp until the very last page is turned.
This one is especially so. I enjoyed Dani's character in the Fever series and absolutely loved her in this story. Of course I'm frustrated with all the hanging threads, innuendos, and unanswered questions that seem to be the style of the series - this one just did it more often and with more characters.
My biggest annoyance, however, was the yuck factor between Ryodan and Jo while Ryodan is obsessing over Dani and her safety. Blech, blech, BLECH!! That was just skin crawling squiggly. Partly because I think he and Dani will end up together at some point, partly because I think the overtness was just disgusting when Jo is her closest friend.
I do wish Dani were a couple of years older, also. I know much of the plot is developed around her youth and always has been, but at the point where she has her own series, all the sexual innuendos from the men in her life would be much more palatable if she weren't just 14 years old.
Still, you just can't beat this edgy, riveting story, for pure urban fantasy enjoyment!...more

I loved this book! Hannah is an author who is seen everywhere all the time (the "stay away from" kind for me) but upon reading this, my first book of hers, I humbly admit my aversion to assembly line authors has kept me from a truly great one this time. "Night Road" is riveting reading! It deals with the hard subject of teenage drinking and it's repercussions on friends, family and society with compassion yet honesty. As we follow the lives of a family, a friend and a young love through all the devastation that can come from one poor choice.
First and foremost, however this is a love story. Whether young love, love of family, love of friends or love of fellowman, Hannah portrays each so deftly and with such a personal touch that the reader's emotions are captivated and crushed right along with the characters. Beautiful work in a heart-breaking shell! Why 4 and not 5 stars, then? Two reasons, the believability in some of the choices and twists in the story, especially those of Lexi, stretch the realistic limit. Also, after such a heart-rending journey of a read, the reconciliation needed more time. After experiencing what the young lovers go through, the reader yearns for a more meaningful explanation in an HEA. Even a page or two for the lovers to talk things out before the "all is well" hits would have been the 5 star cherry for sure....more

#1 One must love "quiet" books - those where nothing terribly big and exciting happens - the type of books that concentrate more on the day to day happenings in the life of....... in this case the life of a young Mormon couple living in Wyoming at the turn of the 20th century. It is enjoyable, interesting and in some ways cozy and comforting, it just isn't exciting at all.
#2: One must have a passable understanding of Mormon culture and way of life. Much of the overt Mormon dialogue from Enduring Light's predecessor, Borrowed Light, is toned down and becomes (quite nicely) just part of the overall conversation of the book. It doesn't preach, it just shows. A working knowledge of terms is encouraged, however.
#3: One must enjoy reading books about life on a ranch during the early 1900s. This story deals extensively in this area. From the day to day tedium and isolation to the annual round-ups and cut-throat competition that existed in an era before civilization was fully established.
#4: One must love a slow burning, deeply loving but clean reading romance.
#5: Kelly's previous book, Borrowed Light is an almost mandatory pre-requisite. All subject matter has it's origins in that story.
If these requirements are met, then this book is an absolutely perfect read! For me, the slow moving pace of the book was a trial. The romance, however, was a shining standout. Julia and Paul's love had already been established in Kelly's previous book so we follow the couple from engagement through the first year of marriage. Through all the trials and hardships, their love is one every reader dreams of!...more

Understanding others may not have the same prejudices, however, Ms. Eden's quality won't be penalized.
Aside from said fact that the characters spend the entire book angst ridden by their own stupidity (the not talking thing,) this is a very sweet, well-written story. One that delivers a nice escape without added steam....more
Ms Enoch's ability to grab the reader from the first page and sink them into the story until nothing matters but finding out what is going to h3.5/5.0
Ms Enoch's ability to grab the reader from the first page and sink them into the story until nothing matters but finding out what is going to happen next makes this book lots of fun to read. It's the believability factor that keeps it from rating much higher. Some of the situations (view spoiler)[the "kidnapping" as a perfect example (hide spoiler)], however funny, were a little over the top, even the sexual aspect didn't quite make muster in this area....more
