No deja de ser interesante leer sobre el pasado, rogando porque las cosas salgan bien, sabiendo que no será así. Pasé por los capítulos como en "Crónica de una muerte anunciada", esperando en cada página por ese terrible desenlace. Mi mayor problema fue con el presente, con ese Ethan tan perfecto y esa Cassie que siempre lo puso en un altar, aunque, la verdad es que ambos se pusieron en un altar. Me cuesta algo creer en ese amor pasional y tan poderoso de ambos. A veces me daba la sensación que era más sexual y química que amor. Lo que más me molestó por lejos fue la "reconciliación" (vamos que no es spoiler, todos saben que van a terminar juntos, no?). Considerando lo larga que fue la relación entre ambos, pensé que no sería algo tan precipitado con una laaaaarga escena de sexo, sino que una escena más romántica, en la que Cassie no hubiese tomado la decisión por la presión del tiempo, sino que porque de verdad se sentía lista. Todo fue tan lento hasta ese momento y de repente todo está bien, ella está mejor y lo ama, y se aman y todos felices. Considerando lo lento que fue llegar a ese punto, esa escena para mí debió ser diferente, era el clímax de seis años de sufrimiento y fue solo sexo, cuando podría haber sido mucho más. Bueno, es solo mi opinión. Lo disfruté, aunque sí que se me hizo largo, de hecho contrario a lo que me pasó con el otro que no lo solté después de empezarlo, este lo dejé cerca de la mitad porque me había cansado con sus idas y venidas. No obstante, fue divertido, reí con algunas de sus conversaciones, aunque este no es ni de cerca tan divertido -y bueno- como el anterior. Primero debo decir que de lo poco que he leído de Fuguet es el que menos me gustó. Los diálogos siguen siendo tan buenos como siempre, reales y muy chilenos (colombianos-mexicanos también en este caso). Como he dicho en las otras reseñas, eso es lo que más me gusta de Fuguet, sus diálogos. Segundo, este libro toca temática gay pura y cruda. Hubo muchos términos que no conocía y tuve que preguntar a un amigo (él me recomendó que no googleara, mejor preguntar xD), mucho sobre Grindr, fiestas, drogas y sexo. No tengo problema con el tema y, de alguna forma, fue educativo, es un todo un mundo dentro de mi propia ciudad que desconozco (obviamente) y me gustó conocer algo de ese mundo con menos límites y restricciones morales (no estoy diciendo que los gays sean inmorales, quiero dejar claro, sino que los que se presentan en este libro son así, por supuesto que hay de todo tipo, como personas en el mundo). Sin embargo, no me gustó tanto como No ficción. No logré enganchar con los personajes y eso que este es como 6 veces No ficción. Siento que Rafa tardó demasiado en aparecer, para cuando lo hizo había olvidado que de eso se trataba el libro. Tampoco me gustó el cambio de narrador de la segunda parte, es algo muy típico de la literatura latinoamericana (Cortázar lo hace mucho, Donoso), pero en este caso no me gustó, lo encontré molesto. Sí disfruté mucho de cómo estaba escrita la primera parte, cuando Alf habla sobre escribir el libro, creo que fue mi parte favorita. El epílogo tampoco me gustó mucho, o sea, si me gustó que fuera con Julián, pero siento que faltó algo o quizá dos lineas, algo distinto, unas últimas frases diferentes. Algo así. Quizá si releo esa parte luego me guste más que ahora. Otra cosa que sí me gustó es la pincelada que nos muestra del mundo editorial, ese mundo de egos y palabras y todas las personas que están detrás de los libros que no son escritores. Me gustó mucho saber sobre eso. Vicente fue el personaje al que le agarré más cariño, encontraba tierna su relación con Alf, la forma en que se cuidaban y como bromeaban. Sí, por lejos lo mejor fueron ellos dos y sus conversaciones en la mañana. Esa amistad honesta y sin tapujos entre un homosexual y un heterosexual. No tenía idea de qué se trataba cuando lo empecé así que estuve más bien perdida gran parte del comienzo del libro, hasta que dije: "oh brujas, ya, entiendo" y después se volvió enredado y entendí un poco menos. Debo decir que la primera parte escrita en segunda persona me llamó mucho la atención, era extraño leer algo así, no sé si lo he hecho antes, creo que en No ficción de Fuguet hay una parte escrita en segunda persona, pero no estoy segura. Esa primera parte me resultó muy atractiva. Sin embargo, ya en la segunda -y en todo el resto del libro- se narra en primera persona. Entiendo que siempre tiene que haber una especie de introducción, algo que te introduzca al mundo con un poco de cuidado, cosa de no perderse, no obstante, fue mucho, y digo MUCHO porque más de la mitad del libro fue una gran introducción para explicar cómo llegamos a lo que nos cuentan en la primera parte. Nathan narra toda su infancia hasta el momento en que es hecho prisionero, absolutamente todo y yo pasé toda esa mitad sin saber hacia qué punto iba el libro, porque lo único que hacía era decir lo que había pasado. Eso fue lo que más me costó, no saber hacia dónde iba la historia, cuál era la trama. Sabía quién era el protagonista y que era prisionero y cómo fue hecho prisionero, pero qué? Quería escapar? Qué quería hacer? Fue muy monótono, muy largo con demasiados detalles que terminaron aburriéndome un montón, la verdad. Después de pasada esa parte, cuando volvemos al presente y pasa lo que tiene que pasar la historia se torna buena, Nathan es interesante como personaje porque no es del todo el típico bueno de buen corazón incapaz de hacer daño y eso me gusta. Hay momentos donde la historia toma un ritmo más rápido, pero en otros vuelve a ser lento, sin embargo, es mucho más llevadera. Al principio creí que no me interesaría leer más, ahora dejo la posibilidad abierta. No hay mucho sobre los otros personajes porque aparecen muy poco, para ayudar al protagonista o molestarlo, por ahí destaco a Gabriel y Rose, pero ni tanto. Hubo muy poco de ambos. El libro es casi todo el tiempo solo Nathan, sus pensamientos, Nathan sobreviviendo, Nathan interactuando con otros personajes... Nada más, al menos me dejó un buen sabor de boca, mejor de lo que pensé que iba a ser (una vez ya empezado el libro, seriamente consideré no terminarlo)....more

En cuanto a escritura, es bastante simple, casi simplona para la calidad de la historia. Por eso el libro se pasa volando. Las descripciones son simples, tanto de los personajes y lugares, como de los sentimientos de los mismos personajes. Ahora, lo bueno. Brandon Sanderson con un simple trozo de tiza creo un mundo fantástico tan complejo como otros lo hacen con cientos de criaturas mágicas. Es asombroso. De verdad, encuentro increíble la capacidad del autor para crear todo el mundo, las leyes, el origen, todo... increíble. Las historia parte simple en un momento, y de a poco el mundo y la trama se va haciendo más compleja hasta un nivel asombroso, que creo será incluso superior en los siguientes libros. Joel, el protagonista, me gustó, pero no tanto como Melody, su personaje es adorable y gracioso, me agradó desde el primer momento. A pesar de estar trabajando y tener apenas unos momentos al día para leer, me lo devoré y quedé con ganas de más de El Rithmatista y del mismo Brandon Sanderson. No entiendo cómo pueden decir que aporta algo nuevo o que es una nueva distopía si todo es absolutamente repetitivo. Chica pobre termina metida en el mundo de los poderosos por X motivo. Hay dos príncipes que parecen altamente interesados en ella porque es diferente a lo que están acostumbrados. Está el personaje bitch que la pone celosa por estar cerca de uno de los príncipes. Hay personajes que la asustan por el poder que tienen. El maestro agradable que le abre los ojos. Todo es ya mega conocido, cientos de libros han usado lo mismo. ¡NADA ES NUEVO! Lo peor de todo es que hay demasiadas partes ridículas. Puedo soportar una historia repetitiva si al menos me entretiene, si me río o si disfruto, pero este libro no lo hizo. Hay una parte dónde las chicas plateadas muestran sus poderes que me recordó a Pokemón, esos eventos que eran similares a concursos de belleza. Creo que con el tema de los poderes a veces se pasaban a un punto de verdad absurdo, no me refiero a la existencia de ellos, sino que el cómo decidían mostrarlos. Cuando vi videos con reseñas varios, o casi todos, hablaban de lo sorpresivo que era, de los giros en la trama y todo eso. Es bastante predecible, rápidamente me hice una idea de todo, nada me tomó por sorpresa, especialmente esa traición del final, la esperé gran parte del libro, entonces cuándo ocurrió fue como... bah. También el personaje que aparece en el epílogo, siempre supe que aparecería. No sé si fue por qué el libro era demasiado fácil, es decir, esas pistas que lanzan eran tan obvias que te hacían deducir lo que pasaría o si fui yo, pero de todos modos me leí todo el libro con una fría indiferencia. No recuerdo siquiera haber sonreído en alguna parte. Ahora que lo pienso mi rostro a lo largo de toda la lectura debió haber sido notable, full poker face. Además, las relaciones amorosas eran muy forzadas, no se podían sentir a lo largo de la narración sino que eran impuestas. Me explico, deduje que habían sentimientos entre ciertos personajes, pero porque era obvio que los habría, no porque se notara. Y luego Mare dice que ama a tal persona o que tal persona la ama, aunque jamás se sintió a lo largo de la historia, solo se insinuaba. No sé si se entiende lo que quiero decir. Para resumir no creo que sea un mal libro, pero tampoco debería destacar como lo hace. Creo que es por todo el marketing que se le ha hecho y por los derechos vendidos para una adaptación que la gente habla tanto de él, pero como libro no se sostiene muy bien. Intenta mostrar este mundo cruel y terrible, pero no lo logra. No me hizo sentir mal por esa gente porque rápidamente lo opacaba con demostraciones de estos X-Men. El libro es una fantasía épica sobre un reino casi utópico conocido como Námanor. El prólogo nos narra el origen de este reino o ciudad con detalle y nos explica la manera en que está formado, a veces de forma algo abrumadora, demasiados nombres extraños y detalles, tuve que devolverme a releer varias veces pues no recordaba bien cada nombre, pero con el paso de las páginas se comienza a hacer cada vez más fácil. Personalmente me costó agarrarle el ritmo al libro, la historia parte con el viaje de tres jóvenes hacia uno de los principales edificios del reino, con la intensión de restaurarlo, pues ese es su trabajo, pero se encuentran con mucho más de lo que esperaban, en especial Tiamat Numa, protagonista de la historia. Está muy bien escrito, con muchas frases muy bellas que me vi obligada a destacar: "y es que la consciencia está llena de prejuicios, pero el instinto jamás nos engaña" "La indulgencia no es una vara, sino la misma copa del árbol" "Qué lejana parece la libertad cuando solo un grupo de hombres se atreve a apetecerla" "Allá donde los niños crecen, el hombre viejo solo se atreve a descansar su corazón" Y otras muchas más. Sin embargo, algo que me complicó la lectura era que a veces no entendía lo que pasaba, producto de esta prosa tan bella y elaborada, no niego que puede deberse completamente a mi comprensión lectora, pero en varias partes ocurría algo importante y yo no me daba cuenta hasta una página después, cuando uno de los personajes decía algo al respecto. Me pasó varias veces, no entorpeció tanto mi lectura, aunque sí la volvía más lenta. Tardé bastante en terminar al libro pues me costó enganchar con los personajes y no comprendía del todo la historia, o en sí la trama que tenía la historia, hubo escenas importantes que las leí con calma, como si el clímax del libro no hubiese comenzado todavía. No obstante, una vez que pasé la primera mitad del libro, no me detuve. La historia se vuelve realmente épica, le quita esa cotidianidad que tenía al comienzo y aumenta el ritmo. En un momento ocurre un cambio de narrador que me sorprendió y entorpeció la lectura, el problema estaba en que terminó narrando en primera persona, el protagonista, eventos que no podía presenciar pues estaba en otra ciudad, eso me incomodó algo, pues creo que hubiese seguido bien la historia narrada en tercera persona. Me enamoré del libro al final, como ya dije fue épico y hermoso de una forma extraña de describir, la portada adquirió un nuevo significado y ahora la miro con cierto cariño. A pesar de que en un comienzo no terminaban de agradarme los personajes, terminé teniéndoles mucho cariño a todos y lamenté el destino de algunos. Realmente el final era muy bello, no por lo que ocurría solamente, sino por lo que significaba cada cosa que ocurría, por el tiempo, el choque de ambos mundos, como se destruía el mundo perfecto que Námanor fue, todo, muy bello y acompañado con una prosa que hizo que amara cada línea que leía. Otra cosa que me gustó mucho, y es porque soy muy visual, eran los mapas del final, tanto el de Námanor como el que incluía el mundo exterior, constantemente me iba a las páginas del final para verlos y complementar lo que estaba leyendo. Y por último debo decir que como estudiante de geología, amé profundamente todas las descripciones de rocas y minerales, al conocerlas se me hacía mucho más fácil imaginar todo ese mundo descrito por Aldo, además de que este mundo donde las gemas tenían una importancia tan grande me enamoró desde el principio. Es cierto que la historia cuesta para que enganche, al principio leía más que todo para saber más de Námanor pues me parecía magnífico, creado con gran detalle y de una enorme belleza, se hacía muy fácil de visualizar. Sin embargo, con el paso de las páginas pude agarrarle el ritmo a la historia y terminé emocionándome con el final. Es un libro muy lindo, de bella prosa, un reino creado con lujo y detalle, habla de la vida, de la belleza, de los errores, de seguir adelante, del destino, del miedo, del amor. Al terminarlo se puede sacar de él mucho más que sólo la belleza de Námanor. Totalmente recomandado si les gustan las historias épicas con reinos mágicos....more
