Edgar Freemantle has an accidentI really enjoyed this novel, with its supernatural tensionI didn't quite guess what would happen, which made me happy! Edgar Freemantle has an accident which upends his life, costs him an arm and a marriage, and causes Broca damage--a type of brain injury which makes him lose speech, which makes him angry, and.....yada. So he decides to go do some R & R at Duma Key after seeing a pamphlet, and while doing his therapeutic walking and such, also takes up painting, trying to capture the Duma sunsets....and suddenly becomes a prodigy...(hmmmm) He also meets up with Wireman, another damaged soul, who is the caretaker of the elderly lady who owns the island. Thus a big King bromance begins. Sometimes I wasnt bying how close they became so quickly, but loneliness can be real! As the mystery about parts of the island and it's history deepen, and Edgar's talent goes through the roof while he paints with his missing arm...the tension builds up nicely.Wireman and Freemantle really start having each other's backs, and realize they need to stop whatever is going on, if only they knew just what...
Maybe I am just too tired these days, but I can't think of a better word for this book than 'cute', but 'cute' also has so many inferences to it that Maybe I am just too tired these days, but I can't think of a better word for this book than 'cute', but 'cute' also has so many inferences to it that I am bothered to use it....lol We have a teenager who is (unknowingly) a super-genius that is obsessed with space travel, who goes to great lengths to win a retired space suit. Being retired, the space suit isnt in the best shape, so he learns all he can about space suits and repairs it to be usable, and then super-modifies it for all sorts of purposes. He starts wearing the suit to walk around in at night for 'practice, and while using the attached communicator, someone responds..... What follows is such an adventure it's hard to describe. So many things seem impossible, but are explained just enough to follow along. Although I did love how the boy kept figuring o9ut things using math in his head....lol ...more

When a Titan allies with the Fomor to attack the citizens of Chicago...Harry needs to ally with everyone he can, including every enemy he has..... This sentence seems kind of ridiculous, but it really works as part of the Dresden cannon. To have any chance at all of winning this, Harry works with the Winter and also the Summer Court, the White Council, the White Vampire Court, Baron Marcone, the Einerjar (sp?), the svartelves, Bigfoot, the werewolves, and probably a lot more than I am remembering right now.
Of course, this leaves us with some really devastating results...and more questions about just WHO harry really is......more

New characters were popping in and out....It wasnt confusing, it just wasnt CLICKING..... Suddenly, this happened, that person died, the weather did this and the stones did that and there we were! I was almost at such a loss and suddenly there is the answer! It is cool when books end like that, but it makes them a chore to read when we cant see an end in sight. So worth it!...more

A group of psychics have been rounded up by the government for an experiment, and things are starting to seem like they might not be too straight forward. Meanwhile, on a world in another galaxy, solar flare like things are killing the alien race living there...Not really solar flares, more like a HUGE curious alien who doesn't even realize the damage he is causing. When some of the aliens try to survive by following a bandwidth they pick up on, suddenly they have traded bodies with the human psychics...and all sorts of adventure ensues. The writing is so beautiful, I actually can picture all three groups and their worlds. It seemed so real, I had to remind myself it was just a book...lol. I loved it...more
