I was a little out of the loop because it's been a while since I read the last volumes, but enough hints are dropped in this volume to remind you that you can get away with it. The villain reveal felt very last minute, and because all the motivation/memories/interactions that are responsible for it aren't revealed to the reader until now it felt kind of cheap. Tanaka could have chosen any character and filled in their motivation by doing it this way, and having a relatively minor character have such a plot impact was confusing to me. The ending is also pretty much textbook HEA for everyone, which surprised me a little given what comes before it, and also cheapened the impact of what comes before it....more

More appearances by Harley in this volume which was neat; as much as the title tells you it's the Wayne family adventures, having more villain appearances would have been cool....more

This one also mentioned BL so of course I had to give it a shot. I'm pretty sure the back cover said 'slow burn', but I was not expecting it to be this slow--the two characters who (I assume) will end up falling for each other don't even meet until halfway through this volume. But I don't say that in a bad way, it's actually refreshing to read something, particularly BL, particularly BL manga, that doesn't have the instant-lust thing going on. I'm not sure if I'd say I enjoyed the book per se, but I didn't dislike it either. Willing to give the next volume a try at least....more

I was disappointed, however, when the author's introduction explained how neurotypical techniques often don't work for autistic brains and how she has made these suggestions autistic-friendly, and yet many of the techniques provided (particularly in the first section) are identical to ones I've already come across that are not geared for autistic minds. I got a couple suggestions from this book, but they're mostly 'I know I should be doing this already I know it would help' and either energy or desire to do said thing is lacking. The 'get in touch with yourself to figure out your emotions' parts were particularly unhelpful for me, as the 'steps' did not get any more specific than 'pay attention to what your body is feeling' -- I experience all emotions in the same body manner, making it impossible to tell them apart, so this isn't helpful for me at all....more

The characters didn't seem (personality wise) as type-casted as how the host labelled them, but the book was shockingly short so I didn't feel I got to really know any of the characters. It felt like all the depth/character building was skipped over to stay in the action, which also made it feel like the monster showed up very early and (view spoiler)[everyone died very early (hide spoiler)]. Interesting monster but pretty standard horror ending. It almost felt like combining every monster/invasion/alien/etc horror movie and using the most common elements to make an abbreviated summary version. It's not bad by any means, and not even boring or anything like that. Just very quick and very shallow....more
