But...it read more like a short version of a longer one? I mean, everything happens fast, with absolutely no real details. On the other hand the story doesn't need to be longer, it has plenty of stuff happening. But it doesn't go deep at all. I could hardly connect with any of the characters, because they were like extras. Nothing particularly deep from any of them was said or felt or thought. Big, life-changing revelations don't bring any emotional responses whatsoever. Just felt flat. Still, it had some dry humor and I liked that....more

So...why not read a clusterfuck of characters and situations that are so ridiculous that you have no other choice but to keep reading and see what else is going to happen :D This is a gathering of fairytales, but definitely not for children. At one time I was like..." Ummm my childhood is ruined" :D :D But I will keep reading, because lately the total overboard, ridiculous books are the only stories that can keep my attention....more

Great story about love over vengeance. I loved how the relationship took time to develop, despite the whole mate thing. Most books use the mate concept to introduce instant love, so from the first chapter the characters already can't be without one another. Here we see a gradual progression of the feelings, not only love, but also guilt and the need for revenge. There was a lot of character build up in Fionn, from a ruthless vengeance-driven warrior to a man realizing that there is much more to life. It takes mostly the whole book, so it's not a one day miracle. Rose is his perfect match. Never giving in, but never giving up on him also. Even though they didn't know each other that long, the book is written is such a way that nothing in their relationship feels rushed. They both use manipulation at some point, him in the beginning, her after realizing his true motifs and using the mating bond to divert him from his path, but it doesn't feel cheap. It's a sign of a good author who can spin a story like that without making it too dramatic. I also liked how in the beginning there was a bit more detailed explanation of the world and what is happening, because I kind of forgot, having read the first novel in the series awhile ago. Also it bears repeating that Samantha Young is great in writing supernatural stuff. Her worlds are easy to understand and to dive in....more

In the beginning there were heroes and villains, but iSpoilers Everyone has a nightmare...this book was mine. I liked the first one, it was different. In the beginning there were heroes and villains, but it wasn't clear who was who. Everyone had their vision and nothing was black and white. It was original. But...this book....honestly this book doesn't deserve happy ending. Too many deaths, too much brutality, too many lies...God, the lies. I hate lying in books. It pissed me off. Also I don't know why some reviewers were complaining about "too much romance" being there. I didn't find that much, to be honest. Some stolen glances and two kisses are not romance. A relationship build on lies is not romance. It's revenge. A damn good one. That was the best thing in the whole series. Nova did manage to plan a good revenge. On the cost of so many people. I didn't like her in this installment. I couldn't read about her. The torture scene? It was the first time that a book made me cry from anger. Because it was cruel and unnecessary. Because Nova's brainwashed brain was too much to take. Because she was an idiot who didn't see things how they are, but how Ace have told her they are. Yeah, she got it in the end. Course she did, we needed the HEA, but it was hollow. Empty. I actually skipped through 70% of the book. I wanted to see how it will be tied up, otherwise it would have been in the DNF shelf. I feel awful after reading this. Sad and angry. I think I will stay away from this author for some time. ...more

I liked the concept of the book, but I feel uncomfortable with all of the deception. Maybe I do like my heroes a bit black and white. Lying and pretending to be someone else has never appealed to me in a novel. It makes me itchy and honestly I can't imagine someone forgiving this kind of a ruse. It's not my thing. This was a filler book for me. Nothing really happened till the end. And the end was messy. Total anarchy :D But honestly I just want it to be over. I want to see everything coming to light. I don't want the HEA even anymore (I simply can't see one happening here). Similar to Nova, I want it all to be known already no matter the outcome. I like both her and Adrian, but they are lost. Especially Nova. I see how she is being used and manipulated and even though her ideas have merit....This was not the way to do it. But she doesn't know anything else, so in a way who can blame her. I just hope she will find peace in the end....more
