The prose flowed pretty well, although there were some grammatical errors that should have been corrected in editing. I just didn’t feel the connection between Eli and Colby. Also, Eli was being paid $50,000 for one week so he shouldn’t have been acting so obnoxiously when his first night at the house. Colby said he was being a brat and thought it was cute. I’d have sent him packing. I especially cringed every time they called each other husband. Who does that? ...more

This was no exception. I love the way he writes. This was almost the perfect novel if not for the thing that really bothered me.
I used to go to a gay camp in Tennessee with my husband. Although this camp is in Georgia, I pictured the camp we visited near the Smoky Mountains. The activities and parties were quite similar to what we experienced. I highly recommend all of Slade James’s books.
I don’t expect fiction to be always be realistic, but I need to share what bothered me.
WARNING: this could be a spoiler for some people.
If a 42 year old is having as much trouble keeping an erection as Paul, then he needs to see a doctor because something is definitely wrong with him. It might be psychological or it might be physical, but at that age it’s not normal. It really bothered me that it happened almost every time they went to bed. I also didn’t care for the fact that Austin acted like it was no big deal. ...more

This was certainly an emotional ride. I found myself crying both sad and happy tears. I loved Donnie and Conner. I know their relationship moved fast, but that happens in gay relationships sometimes. I moved in with my husband two weeks after I met him. I was only 19. We’ve been together 51 years. Sometimes you just know.
I can’t wait to read more books by this author. ...more

Of course it takes a writer like Lane Hayes to bring it all together.

It had everything from tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, sinkholes, car crashes, and buildings blowing up from gas leaks. That’s not all but I don’t want to spoil it for other readers.
One reviewer described it as somewhat preachy and I have to agree. In fact I would have given it 4 stars if sometimes I hadn’t felt like I was listening to a lecture. Even with all this craziness I really enjoyed the story. Eddy and Royce’s falling in love was wonderful and well paced....more

This time she took a subject I love (age gap) and wrote a book I thought was just ok. I often complain that her books have way too much inner monologue. I’m not a fan of inner monologue, but if a story is good enough I can overlook it. It really bothers me in this book. I also didn’t like the fact that Fox and Brantley were breaking the same rules that Fox was punishing other crew members for doing. ...more
