It's a story of Cyprus and grief, disassociation and isolation and yet it's filled with a lot of love. Shafak is fast becoming one of my favourite writers, this is the second book of her's I've read and I really need to get to her backlist. Love her love of life and originality, I always learn something new and unexpected with her novels. Burying a fig tree to protect it from winter storms so it lives to grow another day is not just a metaphor. ...more
