Any breakout will have a series of rapid, breakneck paced events unfold in order to have the matter under control and his family safe. Then there is the question of this very important and dangerous item he is guarding, where is it kept?
So as you can see Charlie Hardie is up against it, the test of his life and his family yet again in the balance. The story does not let down in momentum and has you with many possible outcomes in mind. The only key to pulling this remotely off may be himself in more ways than one.
Sparse, solid word play in dialogue and sentences, a story with a visceral edge that will hook you from the get go, a solid thrill ride with some dark humor.
“The Cabal…oh, they had so many names. When Hardie first encountered them, he knew them as the Accident People who worked for the Industry. Back then they’d nearly killed him…but he’d hurt them bad, too, scuttling a deal worth billions and really pissing them off. So much so that the incident (a) stole five years of Hardie’s life, and (b) stuck him in a secret prison and forced him to be the warden. Needless to say, this really pissed Hardie off. So when Hardie finally busted out he set out to destroy the three known members of Secret America—which is what the inmates in that prison called the Industry. But when Hardie asked the nice lady he almost shot in the face what they called themselves, she chuckled and said, “Call us the Cabal.”

It's a page-turner with wonderful dark, mysterious and glorious characters. Karou is the main protagonist that you will love more and more as the story unfolds and you will become in awe of her. She is a seventeen year old art student in Prague and also an errand girl to an inhuman creature Brimstone, who is the closest thing to family to her. A girl of beauty with long azure hair and the eyes of a silent-movie star, she moved like a poem and smiled like a sphinx. Brimstone her guardian, who raised Karou from birth, is a trader of teeth for magic beads. To give you an idea of the characters in this story and the breed called the Chimera, i will describe to you Brimstone's appearance. His arms and massive torso are human, he has clawed feet of a Raptor or Lizard and a head of a Ram. A flat ovine nose and reptilian eyes and giant yellow ram horns spiraled on either side of his face. Karou travels to Brimstone and his shop via portals and when she leaves she can transport to any town needed from exotic places like Morocco to urban cities as Paris. There are many questions Karou wants answered but one by one the answers descend upon her in rapid succession and her very status changes dramatically. She find herself in clash with another kind of species. He was not human and not from her world and yet something tied them together with the power to conduct her blood and breath like a symphony so that anything she did to fight against, it felt like discord, like disharmony with herself. Amongst this emotion she needs answers, who exactly were the Chimera, and where had they came from? Where there more of them? And what about her. Who were her parents, and how had she fallen into Brimstone's care? Was there another life she was meant to be living? At times she felt a keen certainty that there was a phantom life, haunting her from just out of reach. There is also another set of questions that keep you gripped right through the story The Teeth, what the hell are they for? I might be one of the last bunch out of goodreads who only just read this. So many readers have this as read and voted for it as good story, I can see why in some ways but I felt it was too over crammed with things going on. Information overload and tried a bit too hard into making it a good story with a dialogue that just lost me being really engrossed into the story. The story has Shadow Hunters and Half Demons, vampires, werewolves, warlocks and few other beings. Clary discovers and is in search of truth in how these worlds and beings have a place in her life. There is The Mortal Instruments, that include an important Mortal Cup that can create Shadow Hunters, fighters destroyers of demons of evil. I have just read The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong which is also an urban fantasy and the first in a series voted highly by readers. I found The Summoning and Chloe really worked for me, the story really got me so much more engrossed, maybe the less elements of supernatural characters or shall we say healthy dosses of it and of dialogue in a story the better and the return to grass routes story telling through the eyes of these young female protagonists the better also. I will be looking forward to following Kelley Armstrong's Chloe in unchartered territory in book 2 The Awakening Of The Darkest Powers series. The GOOD is Tom Imura and his band of warriors Benny, Nix, Lilath and Chong. THE BAD is White Bear and other bad zombie hunters. THE UGLY of course are the Zoms (zombies).
I have said it before Jonathan Maberry is really a masterful storyteller packing a punch across genres. Genre for genre a pound for pound a heavyweight contender for book awards. He has really knitted together a thrill ride of a story that is about more than zombies keeps you engrossed right to the end with love and war. Benny is maturing and becoming a warrior he was no longer the skinny kid that he once had been he has muscle definition and six-pack abs. He has an eye also on one girl, will he be able to express his love to her? Tom the powerful warrior equipped with his kami Katana, Tom the Swordsman, Tom of the woods, Fast Tommy. Tom the Killer. Lilah is another hero fast efficient and ruthless she grew up out in the Ruin, she was raised by a man who helped her during the First Night and then was living on her own for years after. Lived alone in the woods spoke to no one. Learned from books and learned the art of making weapons. She became a hunter and a killer. She is quiet and very beautiful with eyes the colour of honey. They called her the Lost Girl on the Zombie cards. She was merely a legend or myth until Tom and Benny brought her out into the public eye. Together they destroyed Charlie Pink-eye and the Hammer. But did they really destroy Charlie? That’s what they thought but a figure appears amongst the zoms that looks like Charlie from the distance, is it him? If it is how could Benny tell Nix, a girl he loves, that her mothers murderer is still out there, still roaming the world free? The band of warriors lead by Tom the hero Zombie Hunter set out on a journey to the Ruin in search of a Jet a mode of transport. They leave Mountainside and head for the Forest along there journey meet The Bad and the Ugly, they also meet many of their good friends, good Zombie Hunters. The Greenman is one of them a hunter who literally looks like a tree, he wears a leafed mask and has cones and leafs pinned to his coat, a camouflage amongst the forest in which the zoms cannot see him. One good weapon to have against the zoms, is cadaverine. Consists of a mixture of cadaverine, putrescine, spermidine, and other vile ptomaines. They will not eat you if you have it smeared on you.
The journey places them into what could be debated as the greatest test some of their friendships have been under. A real nail biting experience as they become divided and some captured, love also flourishes in a story that really entertains with ingredients of courage and bravery.
White bear The Bad has a bounty on the heads of the good band of zombie hunters the four of them Nix, Benny, Lilah and Tom.
The Hunger Games is over for now until the movie is released and The Dust and Decay and The Gameland is a rightful dose of the same entertainment. If you think all this is not enough to get you to read this novel, then hold on because Carpet coats, Football Helmets with Plastic Visors and a Pit in the ground are signs of danger! An event of gruesome violence pitted against zoms in a pit they call it ‘Gameland’ The bets are on who will survive? Gameland was a place that Lilah escaped in the past and was eventually closed down but now it has been reopened by White Bear and other Bad Zombie Hunters.

He plays the role well as a caring brother and as a family man and loves kids but as he tries to keep up with the crowd his sociopath personality is dying to kill. To kill those who hurt children and the rest of the scum that live on the grid. He is a superhero of modern times a sort of Robin Hood that robs the evil from the street. His arch enemy Doakes is a pain in Dexters side in this novel, him and Dexter find themselves in a jam. The hunt is on for a killer who dismembers bodies. This story serves up some more ramblings of Dexter's mind and dark humour, its not a tense or gripping thriller but provides a good dose of entertainment in Dexter trying to keep the Dark passenger at bay.

This is Heart warming and touching part of the series and you feel that the best is yet to come, from the way the story is set up for book 3.

The Gunslinger "The Interloper, The Lord of Flies, The Man in Black cometh!" Stephen King our modern day Charles Dickens takes you on beginning of an epic journey with Roland 'The Gunslinger' in this poignant tale. The story takes us through the past and future and the coming of age of a man and a boy in search of The Tower. 'The more you eat the more you toot!' or should I say the more you re-read it the more you will appreciate it, that's what I felt second time round reading the novel and also third time via audiobook. I felt I picked up more clues to the whole Dark Tower experience.
One person from the past and one from the future pitted together against the man in black in searcheth of The Tower. A Hawk pays no coinage to love or morals is The Gunslinger a Hawk? Is The Man in Black a priest?

But if Grazer is to be believed, “The Dark Tower” isn’t too big for HBO.
Speaking with MTV News at the “Tower Heist” press junket this past weekend, Grazer revealed that “The Dark Tower” is still very much on track, so much so that that HBO has come on board. “We’re going to do ['The Dark Tower'] with HBO,” Grazer told us. “We’ll do the TV with HBO, and we’ll do the movie with… to be determined. We’ll do it right.” Grazer, who believes that the previously attached Javier Bardem will still be on board as Roland Deschain, added that “Dark Tower” is going to be able to move ahead largely because he and Howard have managed to reduce the film’s substantial budget. “We’re going to do that movie. We’ve lost $45 million out of the budget,” he said. “When people say no to you enough, then you have to lose money, which we’ve done without harming the scope of the film.” Grazer’s comments that “The Dark Tower” is heading to HBO is a huge development, to say the least. Akiva Goldsman is going to be writing the screenplay for the mini-series of The Dark Tower and the movie also. He is also going to produce the movie, that looks good as he is a consulting producer for Fringe TV series, which is really good. Akiva has written screenplays for many good books I am legend, Da vinci code, I robot, a beautiful mind, angels and demons, a time to kill, the client and batman and robin. This looks promising. Director is going to be Ron Howard who has directed many good movies he directed the two Dan Brown adaptations and A beautiful mind. Stephen King is also going to co-produce.
At the moment they have Javer Bardem from No country for old men to play Roland.

The story is mix of many settings starting in The western seafront with The Gunslinger and dangerous Lobstrosities and then to 1980's a heroin addict and mobsters in P.O.V mode for The first of The Three 'The Prisoner'. Roland The Gunslinger also pays a visit to the other 2 candidates The Lady Of The Shadows and The Pusher which sweep you back to 1960's and 1980's. The story is really written well with humorous undertones and has a healthy dose of sociopathic and schizophrenic characters. There's a bit of Love in the air too! "Even the damned love" The Gunslinger talks a lot about Ka, Ka "signifies life-force, consciousness, duty and destiny. In the Vulgate, or low speech, it also means a place to which an individual must go".
You really get to like these characters King has developed and get to laugh along with the Gunslinger as he immerses himself in different worlds, makes me reminisce of the Crocodile Dundee movie where the guy had never been to a city in the U.S before. "The yellow cars were public conveyances called tac-sees or cabs or hax. The tribes which drove them, the mortcypedia told him where two, Spicks and Mockies. To make one stop,you held your hand up like a pupil in a classroom." LoL Mahfah! Mahfah! Good stuff!
I was there following Rowland in search of the man in black i was a the doors in the drawing of the three and visited the waste lands. And now the wizard and glass leaves me a bit with a bad taste in my mouth. One consolation is at least Stephen King has some human qualities in failing at things, in storytelling. In this rare case for me that his, until now I have not experienced any bad or boring writing with this authors work. Alas we still have many more books to follow the merry band of pilgrims and knights on their journey to the Dark Tower. Even-though i am an avid fan of The whole Dark Tower world and The Gunslinger, that would not blind me at all in anyway if i find some of the stories lacking in quality. I would like to forget that this episode in The Dark tower's series is really there and hope that the next episode leaves me with good thoughts and ramblings in the dark tower search. ...more
