This is my second Judith McNaught book. I started this book telling myself I would read a little and then pick up a modern book, but like the last Judith McNaught book I got sucked in!
This one is a bit more fanatical and light in angst. Although I see that the author has a way of writing books. She likes to write a pretty mild read until the ending and then she throws a angsty obstacle to get your blood pumping. I’m not sure I like that, but at least it’s towards the end. BUT good grief it’s hard to read through.
This one has a medieval feel and I like the whole prisoner theme, because back in the day all bets are off and you can do anything.
Royce has lived his whole life in the battle field and when he acquires Jennifer, the daughter of his enemy, well things change.
I didn’t like the beginning of the book because there was foreshadowing that is a pet peeve of mine when I read a book. I think if I could have bypassed this I would have enjoyed the book more.
The author does a great job in building up the characters and world building. Jennifer is something. She was very hard to like and that is kind of the way the author writes. You love and hate a character. She’s very young and innocent and set in her ways. I LOVE that she is independent and thinks for herself, but she can be stubborn at times and it makes you want to bash her head in.
I love that Royce is a brute, but he isn’t a villain. As much as everyone fears him, he was level-headed and kind of let Jennifer call the shots. I found that cute and endearing.
I loved the novel except for the foreshadowing in the beginning and the ending where angst was thrown in. I understand that authors have to throw in the last bit of drama towards the end, but it was hard to read though. I read very fast and skimmed the dramatic bits.
What an emotional read?! Gah the emotions. I had no idea I was going to sucked into this rabbit hole.
Once an4 I found a new Historical Romance author!
What an emotional read?! Gah the emotions. I had no idea I was going to sucked into this rabbit hole.
Once and Always is the first book in the Sequels series. I have no idea if it’s a spin-off and what Sequels mean. I do know it’s a standalone and it’s a very meaty book.
The moment I started the book I couldn’t stop reading it. I was addicting to the plot and I was addicting to the style of writing. I was engaged and entertained and it was such a treat!
I found the beginning light and very cute. I was smiling ear to ear wondering what would happen to Victoria.
I love Victoria, she’s 18 and innocent and she has such fire and spirit. I love the way she looks at life and that she grew up poor. Her parents die and she is thrown into England at the hand of Jason.
I love a love / hate relationship with Jason. I wanted to like him, but he was very trying at times. If you ever wanted a complex hero, he is it. He has a huge chip on his shoulder and he doesn’t let ANYONE In. I was screaming at the pages towards the end.
There’s plenty of banter between Victoria and Jason. If you like a slow burn romance oh my goodness this one is for you. The book oozes tension and you will be rooting for the couple to figure it out and get together.
I will admit it was slightly exhausting at times watching Jason and Victoria fight over misunderstandings. If they have a simple conversation with each other, a lot of their problems could have been fixed. The angst to a bit high for me. I would have had more touching moments.
Regardless, I really like the way the story was told. And I can’t wait for the next book. ...more
I have a huge sigh for this book and probably for this series. This is not my first Sarah MacLean book and I think that was the3 Read at your Own Risk
I have a huge sigh for this book and probably for this series. This is not my first Sarah MacLean book and I think that was the downfall for me.
Look, I get where Sarah was going in this book. I listened to the author interview in the end and I give her props her for being different and going into a different direction. Do I like it? NO.
I listened to the audio and I thought the female narrator was okay. I found her voice a touch too deep for my liking, but her character transitions and voice acting was excellent. I REALLY do hope she doesn’t do the rest of the series, but me-thinks she will and sigh on that.
Even though I didn’t like this book very much and I didn’t care for the narrator, I highly suggest you listen to the book verse reading it. I think if you read it, you would have gone insane.
The big difference of this book is that it’s darker than Sarah MacLean’s other books. If you have expectations like me, for a certain type of feel, be sure to understand the author is going in a different direction.
I felt like 50% of the book was character development, story build-up and a lot of plot building
The story is complicated and it takes several hours of the author explaining to you the situation before you can even get into the heart of the “romance”.
The series is about 3 brothers and this story is about Devil.
I struggled with liking the characters
I hated Devil and I hated Felicity.
I found Felicity superficial and ignorant. She only cared about her status and what other people thought. She is willing to do ANYTHING to get married. It’s really sad and pathetic and as much as I wanted her character to be human, I wanted a Heroine I could root for. To want to be. I didn’t like her at all.
I found Devil with too many emotional baggage and issues. The chip on his shoulder is massive and it’s a HUGE part of the book. Why is Devil so evil? Why does he hate so much? Why does he plan to ruin Felicity? That will be the tone of the read.
The romance is lacking
Yes, there is a relationship between Devil and Felicity but what kind? One that is built on hate? Built on lies? Built on the foundation that they are both damaged and take it out on another?
The LENGH of the book The book is long because you have to get into a lot of the politics of the story. The author does a lot of plot building and I truly didn’t care for it. It wasn’t a hardship to listen to, but it was part of the story I didn’t want. I rather have the book focus on the main couple ya know?
Will I continue the series?
YES! I’m invested into the damn characters, but I’m not sure if this will be my go-to series to jump into. I really hate the tone and feel of this book and most of the time I was in a bad mood while I was listening to it because all the characters were horrible! ...more

This book is a spin-off from The Fae Chronicles. Even though it’s labeled as a standalone, I highly advise you read the Fae Chronicles prior to reading this one. One, it’s easier to understand because I think I would be lost if I didn’t have any background and two, Ryder and Syn’s story is way better.
I LOVED Ristan in The Fae Chronicles and I was kind of nervous getting into this one because I knew it would be about him and his hate towards Olivia and I don’t like a mean hero.
What really drove me bonkers was that 50% of the book retold the Fae Chronicles, but from Ristan’s POV and I don’t like that kind of story telling. I felt like this book dragged a bit and usually the kinky bits would pull me out of my funk, but even that didn’t help.
I liked Olivia but I didn’t see the chemistry between her and Ristan. I felt like the story dragged a bit and I skimmed all the plot. I was only interested in Olivia and Danu only because it added a little dark tension.
I wasn’t interested in finding the relic of having Ristan open Olivia’s eyes about how she was trained.
OH and I didn’t like we didn’t know what Olivia was, even the last chapter. I hated that it was hinted throughout the whole book that she was “different”. REALLY? I would have preferred to not know how different she was until it’s reveled. That annoyed me.
I’m trying to read all the author’s books in order. So I guess it’s onto Playing with Monsters. ...more

I read Branded Captive which is the author’s newest book and so I was curious to the other books. I highly recommend you read Born to be Bound prior to reading Branded Captive because it gives you a bit more insight to the Alpha and Omega world. It makes more sense now.
This one is less smutty and longer than Branded Captive so look at it more as a full-length erotic novel.
There were parts I enjoyed and some parts I found lacking. I found that I didn’t really care for the politics of the book. Two sides getting ready to fight each other. The strong and bad side, which is Shepherd and the rebellion and good side.
This isn’t a love triangle, but there is a third person involved and I have a feeling his character will be stronger in the second book, but that is me thinking out loud.
I’m not sure how I feel about Shepherd, sometimes I like him and sometimes I wonder if I’m suppose to hate him. He’s very set in his ways. He treats and views Claire like a possession, having no care for her feelings or even if she is in discomfort. He sometimes shows signs of sympathy but when you feel like he is redeeming himself he does terrible things, like (view spoiler)[fucking another girl on the other side of the door and leaving his fluids all over the bed for his mate to see (hide spoiler)] yeah I didn’t get that. Did the author want me to hate him?
I’m curious to see how that will be explained and how Shepherd can redeem himself.
You feel for Claire throughout the whole book. She basically battles her feelings throughout the whole book. She hates him, but he bonded with her and so that bond makes her crave him.
Overall, the book has potential but if Shepherd doesn’t start redeeming himself, I’m not sure I can finish the series.
The book is hot and kind of dark. Not what I expected, but I didn’t hate it. I like short smutty books, but this one m3… Well that was different Stars
The book is hot and kind of dark. Not what I expected, but I didn’t hate it. I like short smutty books, but this one might be a touch too short? It was hard to follow what was going on, I had to read other reviews when I finished to answer some of my questions.
The book starts out with a bang and basically sets the tone of the book. I you can’t stomach that part, you really shouldn’t read any more. I on the other hand, kind of enjoyed all the abuse.
At the end of the day Wren is abused throughout the book.
I thought these reverse Harem kind of books were about worshipping one girl, but it’s about three dudes that really like to bang and not give a crap about the girl’s feelings.
I’ll say it again, YOU WILL FEEL BAD FOR HER. But there’s lots of steam, so there you go. What I will say is that I didn’t expect this to be a cliff-hanger. Who does that in smutty novellas? Had I known that I would have waited for the series to finish.
I think that was a little misleading from the author … but that’s my two cents. ...more
I did the audio version of this book. I think descriptive books are really great via audio format, you know what is not great? When you go to f3 Stars
I did the audio version of this book. I think descriptive books are really great via audio format, you know what is not great? When you go to flashbacks WITHOUT TELLING THE READER.
Good grief it was so hard to understand when I was listening to flashback scene and when I was in the present. I’m not even talking about chapters in past form, I’m talking about a random moment the scene will be in present form and BLINK it’s a flashback, because the character was thinking about the past. Oh my goodness it was confusing as fuck. BUT on the bright side, it didn’t happen to often, but it 100% hinder my listening experience.
Like I said, I don’t like descriptive books in book format. I prefer dialogue based books, but I don’t mind it so much in audio. I will say this, the female narrator wasn’t my favorite. I thought she read a touch too slow, but I did like her voice. I thought the male narrator’s voice was really unique and although I like the sound of his voice, I couldn’t picture him as Alexander. His voice was too casual for me.
There is a HUGE pet peeve with me in with reading the ending at the beginning. You should definitely skip the prologue / 1st chapter because it gives away the last chapter of the book and I find it annoying AF. Again, it’s a personal preference.
So my feelings on this book. …
I’ll be honest and say, at times I found the book decent and at times I felt like I wasn’t really reading a storyline. The first 60% of the book was about Sara Jane having issues with Alexander because of … what Alexander does? Who Alexander is? At first I thought he was in the MC because of the cover (totally misleading). Then we find out what he does and I’m like… (view spoiler)[The first half of the book had so much tension because Alexander wants to find his mother’s killer? (hide spoiler)] I didn’t see the issue. I couldn’t understand the “plot”, was there a plot?
The second half picks up a bit more. I think my main problem was the pacing of the book. The book is set where they are a couple for 3 years and every so often the author would go to a flashback to kind of set up the tone and pace of the relationship, BUT because of that it was really hard to understand where the characters were coming from.
Sarah Jane and Alexander LOVE each other a lot, BUT I was told that. I couldn’t really see it. I wanted to see some hardships, I wanted to see how they formed that love. I think if the book was told in order and I got to see how Alexander swept Sarah Jane off her feet and THEN we get to the part where Alexander is sneaking off and doing “dangerous” things, I might have different feelings for the book.
What I did like was that Alexander wasn’t a total A-hole. THANK YOU! I’m so tired of reading books where the main character is a 100% jerk. Like fuck another girl in front of the Heroine jerk. Geez, I’m trying to stay away from those books at the moment because it makes me angry.
So… Savage wasn’t a total win for me, but not a total loss. I’m on the fence with book 2 but I might read it just to finish out the duet. ...more

If you want to read an entire book about the Hero NOT wanting the Heroine and the Heroine continues to throw herself at him because he gives great orgasms, then this one is for you.
Dirty Filthy Rich Men was one of the most difficult books I listened to. This book would have been better had I read it, not listened because I could not stand Sabrina.
I really like the narrator, I’ve listened to her books before and the narrator is one of the reasons why I continued to listen to the book to the end. I highly recommend any narrations by Elena Wolfe.
Here’s the thing, a lot of people loved this book, so at the end of the day, the whole storyline / plot was NOT FOR ME.
There are so many things that went wrong for me. Where do I begin?
Donovan and Sabrina have a 100% toxic relationship. I would have so liked it if this was not a duet book, but the fact the entire book dragged out how mean and awful Donovan was to Sabrina was really hard for me to take.
Here’s how it goes:
A. Donovan is so sexy, so Sabrina jumps on his cock B. Donovan has sex with Sabrina and basically is like, fuck you, I’m done. C. So Sabrina has a convo with Donovan the next day to why Donovan was so mean after sex. D. BUT the convo never happens because Donovan is so sexy and so Sabrina jumps on his cock.
Rinse and repeat. That was the ENTIRE book. Sabrina loves orgasms from Donovan so much, he can treat her like shit.
Who calls up a girl and gives her a play by play of him eating ANOTHER GIRL out. What the fuck?
I wished Sabrina had a back bone and made Donovan work for it. I felt like the relationship was 100% lust.
On a positive note, the book is hot! It’s more like an erotic book, so if you are into that kind of thing, asshole Heroes and weak Heroines, oh boy this book is for you baby. ...more

Reckoning is the second book in the Vincent and Eve series. I have a love and hate relationship with cliff-hanger endings. I don’t really mind it, but if I wait too long, I forget what happens and I’m fucked.
I like this series, although at times I feel like it can be a long, the beginning was a little slow. I stopped reading a few times, but once you get to the 40% mark everything happens pretty fast and it was exciting and addicting to read.
I love Vincent and I like that he has to stay with that other girl in public. I think it adds a nice tension. I like Eve, but good grief she can get on my nerves. I hope she grows bigger balls in the next book.
I like the chemistry and relationship between Vincent and Eve. I liked that it’s the hero chasing after the Heroine and he is really domineering. He will not take no for an answer and I really liked that. I do think there is a touch of insta-love, but it makes for a dramatic and romantic book so I’ll take it.
Eve is a Freshman in college and all she wants to do is finish school and become a lawyer. Vincent has too much baggage and she doesn’t to be a part of that, but Vincent doesn’t care! He takes what he wants and he wants Eve back.
I felt like the ending was a touch predicable, but I know there needs to be tension for the next book. I liked the steam in this one and I hope that carries into the next book. I want Eve to be stronger and not cry all the time! I’m curious about the mafia politics and I hope to see more of that. But most of all, I hope I don’t forget about this series when I start the next book! ...more

I’m giving Hunter 3 stars, but I still liked the book. I think if 30% of it was edited it out, I would have bumped it to 4 stars. My interest got kind of lost towards the end, but overall, I like Maci.
Maci was the quiet one in the first book. I was really curious about her, since she’s the virgin and she seemed to have a unique ability, but we never really knew what it was. In Hunter, she really shines.
Callum is on death row, he lives in a cell with the other death row inmates. He doesn’t understand why he isn’t just killed, but after a year in death row, he realizes what awaits for him.
The hunt. In the Hunt, he is thrown into an enclosed kind of “woodlands” area where a rich person will be hunting him and kill him. What an interesting storyline right? Maci is thrown into with him and they two will have to learn to survive.
The author does a great job at world building and story-telling, but like I said earlier, sometimes it’s a bit much. I wanted a lot of that edited out towards the end. I enjoyed the story most of all. It was unique to see how Callum and Maci interact. I also liked that they didn’t speak the same language. I kind of wanted that to be continued throughout the book because it would just make for a harder relationships.
I usually like books where there are not that many characters and you really get that with this one. They have to use each other to survive.
Despite the book being too long, I was entertained and will be moving on to the next book! ...more

I picked this up because of the reviews and it was on Kindle Unlimited so I had nothing to lose. When I started this book it started off with a bang and I got really into it. I do like the writing style, although at times I feel like it can a bit wordy and descriptive, but other than that, it flows fairly quickly, also the length of the book is pretty perfect, not too long and not too short.
This is about a girl who is a virgin, she lives in the worst part of town (where there are gang wars) and all she dreams about is going to college and getting out of the life.
You really feel for Eve. You want her to be safe, protected and sheltered.
Eve is beautiful and one of the gang members have taken an interest in her. She lives her life in fear and tries really hard not to be part of the gang or mafia life. Her mom has ties to the mafia and she tries really hard not to become her mom.
Vincent kind of changes things for her, she meets him at an underground fighting ring (I know right?!) and shows her that she can be cared for and protected, but with limits of course because there’s something about Vincent that is holding himself back.
Vincent’s mysterious vibe isn’t really mysterious because it’s kind of obvious who he is, but I do like Eve doesn’t know and she kind of just goes with the flow. I like the relationship between the two and although the book is New Adult, there’s no sex. A lot of making out and a few sexual encounters. It didn’t bother me, but don’t go into this book looking for the typical NA steam.
I liked the book a lot and went into book 2 quickly. The book doesn’t end and it make you jump into the second one. I’m not sure if the next one will end the series, but I’m willing to take that chance. ...more

I picked up the Irreparable series because I was reading the Morelli Family series and before I started Once Burned I was warned to read Irreparable because of spoilers of Irreparable. It’s true you will find out some stuff in the Irreparable series and so I didn’t mind reading it quickly.
I already did my book review for each books because that is how I like to do my book reviews, but my overall opinion…
Irreparable is a decent duet. It’s not my favorite by the author but it was a quick read for me. I do skim the more descriptive writing and the slower parts, again that is just how I read.
I wouldn’t say this is a dark book, there is maybe one dark moment and that is about it. It’s also hard to like the characters because they aren’t all that good, but they aren’t all that bad and that’s kind of theme of the book I guess.
So my final thoughts, I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it. It was overall decent. ...more

This book was wayyyy out there and it’s usually not my cup of tea because of (view spoiler)[CHEATING! (hide spoiler)] but for some reason I couldn’t stop reading. I had to know how everything ends.
This is a duet book so I knew there would be a cliffhanger. The cliffhanger isn’t too bad and the second book is out so there you go.
The book really sucks you in and I found myself not able to stop reading until I finish. I did find some parts a little slow and draggy, like when Ethan and Willow getting to know each other, even though I like dialogue in books.
Willow is 18 and is kidnapped to become a sex slave. Ethan is a PI and he’s undercover to save kidnap people for a fee. Long story short stuff happens and it forever changes Ethan and Willow. The thing is, how do they go back to normal when everything is over?
I have to say, I love a single parent in a book, but man reading the relationship between Ethan and his kids and his wife is pretty brutal. You feel for EVERYONE in this book and I liked that the theme of the book is that there are no good or bad people, there are just people in between.
I’m starting to like this author a lot and I already found myself binge reading a lot of her books. ...more
First 50% 2 stars – Second 50% 3 to 3.5 Stars – Re-read Audio Review
Why did I decide to do a re-read after rating the book 2 stars? I have no idea. YoFirst 50% 2 stars – Second 50% 3 to 3.5 Stars – Re-read Audio Review
Why did I decide to do a re-read after rating the book 2 stars? I have no idea. You know there are some authors that get so much buzz and there are so many books to the series, I was like oh why not?
First off, some books are better read and some books are better listened. FEAR ME is a LOT BETTER in audio format I really liked the narrator and even though it’s entirely female POV, she does good character transitions and her pace was nice. I also liked her voice. I can listen to her for the entire series.
The downfall of the audio part is that Keenan and Keiran sounds so similar I wanted to shoot my brains out. They are huge characters in the book and to have that same sounding name in audio format is probably the worst thing you can do for a book. I got confused a few times trying to remember who is who.
Okay, so that is out of the way.
Look, this book has angst and if you like reading a book where the Hero SHITS all over the Heroine, then this is for you. I’m not talking about a hero you will love/hate, I’m talking straight up awful, no good, no redeeming quality Hero. I know there are some of you that like that stuff, so this might be your jam!
Here are some elements I don’t like to read in a book …
I don’t like highly descriptive books and repetitive verbiage. (I don’t mind this so much in audio format, so that didn’t bother me so much, but the repetitive parts did)
I don’t like angst I’ve never liked angst and I don’t understand why characters can’t just talk it out, instead of acting like fools and driving everyone, including the reader bat-shit crazy.
I don’t like there is a secret in the book and you don’t get it until the last fucking chapter I completely forgot what it was and so when I was listening to the book I kept on asking myself, why does Keiran fucking hate Monroe so much?!
The Hero has to have some redeeming qualities More on this later
So yeah I have a few pet peeves.
The first half of the book is really tough to listen to. Kerian is horrible to Monroe and you have no fucking clue why. The boy pushes her and she breaks her arm at age eight. That’s crazy. He does a lot of things that are horrible and he never lets up. Nope, not a silver of nice. I began to feel like I was reading an abusive relationship, like the kind where you want to call the police and get Monroe to safety. I will still say that he did (view spoiler)[rape her when he took her virginity, forced her to give him a blow job and forced her to not move as he went down on her (hide spoiler)] If the characters were in their twenties, I could have let it slide and say it’s kind of kinky and it’s a dark read, but reading it as teenagers in a contemporary not really dark romance…. I just don’t jive with it.
Where were the parents and teachers? There are so many things that happened to Monroe but no one was around to see them. Monroe’s Aunt goes on a book tour for the entire length of the book. Who leaves their teenager for like months? I felt like to be a true high school book, there should have been some parents.
Monroe was a weak character. She had no backbone and it was hard to see her crawling all over Kerian. The book was 100% insta-lust and it was hard to believe why she would like the guy. Like I said, the guy threaten her daily and sexually accosted her all the time, but she love/hated it? I didn’t understand it.
I think if the first 50% wasn’t so dragged out and if that was edited down to maybe 20% it wouldn’t have been so tough to read.
Now, the second half of the book was more tolerable, but it still had a lot of the flaws I don’t like to read. It was really tough to read why Kerian is so guarded with his past. I hated to read the questions and the answers that weren’t answers.
Don’t get me started on the questions. Almost every single response started with a question. I remember this annoyed me the first time I read the book and it still annoyed me the second time. I really hope the writing style changes up a bit. I can’t stand this type of writing.
I didn’t believe Kerian was “evil”. I mean, he was a grade-A class asshole, jerk and crazy. But killer? Not so much. I kind of wish I had his POV to soften him up. I also wish I witnessed him killing people or doing something along those lines to make me believe his threats against Monroe were valid.
And the ending. So you read the entire book and you get to the ending. The why. You finally get it and when you do I was like, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Kerian was crazy mean to Monroe for 10 years because of (view spoiler)[ her looking like another girl he had to kill as a kid (hide spoiler)] HE IS CRAZY?! Not like sexy crazy, but just CRAZY. Like leave him honey crazy.
Anyhow, as much as I rant about this book, I couldn’t put my ear buds down. Maybe there’s something to the formula, you know where the author withholds info until the last chapter.
I’m moving on to the next book because I am curious to see if the writing has changed at all and if there will be any redeeming qualities with Kerian, but I’m not going to hold my breath....more

I love Kindle Unlimited because I love finding new authors. Accidental Witness wasn’t anything I expected, but I enjoyed it. There are some parts that need tweaking, but overall, it was an entertaining read.
The book starts with Mia. She’s a high school student and she witnesses something she shouldn’t have. It’s something Vince did and he comes from a powerful family.
The first part of the book was kind of cute and sweet. Vince makes sure Mia doesn’t talk and I like their awkward relationship. And yes, some of it was awkward. I felt like the dialogue didn’t flow as well, but I was curious to see where it would go.
The relationship gets hot and heavy fast and again I was curious to see where the relationship would go because it was so quick, but I rather have it quick then with a bunch of filler pages.
The second half of the book is more involved with Vince and his family, especially his 12-year older ruthless cousin, Mateo. Now, we have heard of this guy and how evil he is, but we haven’t experienced him and now we do.
I enjoyed the second half of the book more because it talks more about the dangers of Vince’s family and his crazy cousin, Mateo. You will hate and love Meteo at the same time. To my surprise he plays a big role in the book too.
I’m not sure where the author will go with the book because a lot of events happen, but I’m 100% curious and ready for the ride. The book is kind of dark and it will push your buttons a little and I didn’t have a problem with that at all. I kind of liked it. ...more

First off, I was really intrigued by the summary. Kandy is young, she’s 18 and she’s had a crush on Mr. Cane (35 years old), her dad’s best friend since she was nine years old.
The book started out great and I really liked the flow. I liked how Kandy and Cane had this love / hate relationship. She didn’t always fall to his feet and I liked how he would take her out. Everything was really innocent and I liked how he never really thought much about her in that sexual way.
As much as I like a feisty young gal, I didn’t like Kandy crawling all over Mr. Cane and seducing him. I know that’s the whole point of the book right? I guess what really got to me was that Cane had a girlfriend and she was really nice. The cheating didn’t really bother me at first because the girlfriend was kind of a side character, but as you read more of the book she become more apparent and then I started to get angry.
I didn’t like that Cane strung his girlfriend along and at the same time playing a hot and cold game with Kandy. He would pull her in, only to push her away and she was a doormat taking any crumbs he was willing to give. I didn’t like the angst factor of the book and some parts were kind of draggy. I did start to skim towards the end.
I didn’t feel like the book should have been a duet and I felt like Cane shouldn’t have played with Kandy so much. I felt like Kandy should have had more of a back bone.
What got me really upset was the ending. Look, I knew there would be a mega cliff-hanger and I was ready for it and when I realized what kind of cliff-hanger it was, I kind of rolled my eyes and was like REALLY?
(view spoiler)[Kelly bugs Cane’s office and shows Kandy and Cane having sexy to Kandy’s dad? REALLY? So now the only leverage Kelly has is that she knows about Cane’s mom? REALLY? Cane is willing to put up with crazy Kelly because of this secret? (hide spoiler)] Ug, I’m not sure if I can handle the second book.
(view spoiler)[How long will Cane and Kandy be apart? How crazy will Kelly be and will I read boring parts of Cane and his best friend trying to make up? Because I really don’t care for that storyline nor do I want to read it (hide spoiler)]
I guess I had expectations of this being an easy, fast pace smutty read and I got a really angsty, hot book. I didn’t mind the hotness factor, I got that, but blah the angst. Not my cuppa. ...more
Well, I popped my Sara Ney cherry. I didn’t think it would ever happen, but when a book is thrown in your face 24-7, you can’t but help but pic4 Stars
Well, I popped my Sara Ney cherry. I didn’t think it would ever happen, but when a book is thrown in your face 24-7, you can’t but help but pick it up. Seriously her books are everywhere and everyone loves them.
I’ll admit I have picked up several of her books and couldn’t finish them. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood or I didn’t want that kind of angst so it wasn’t a surprise that it took me two or three tries before I could finish Jock Row.
Everyone loved Jock Row and so I told myself I would read it and finish it. The first part of the book, mainly the first 30% of the book was a struggle for me. I love a dialogue based book and so that wasn’t a problem, but the problem of Scarlett getting to know Rowdy was tough. I mean, I wasn’t gritting my teeth or anything, but like I said I put down the book several times.
Asking each other questions and getting to know each other is cute in theory, but to read pages and pages of that. I could have done without that part.
I think maybe it was my mood, but after a few weeks I picked it back up and everything changed. I finally thought that maybe Scarlett was kind of adorable and Rowdy was really sweet and Jock Row wouldn’t be angsty.
I didn’t understand Scarlett at first, but as I read more and the book picked up it got better. Scarlett is an odd ball. She wears a sweater to a house party where the other girls are dressed like hookers. She says odd things and prevents her friends from hooking up.
I didn’t like Rowdy either, at first. I mean, he kicks her out of the party and prevents her from going back in. Who does that? And I didn’t like how Scarlett came back the next week, in the hope to see him.
But as the weeks went by and they kept on running into each other, the book got cute. I liked that they were the main focus of the book. I liked there wasn’t too many of the characters talking to other characters. I liked the sexual tension and the slow build up. You better believe there’s a lot of build up.
To my surprise the book is sweet and very low on angst. I love a good low angst book.
SO… I’m glad I pushed myself to finish it. I actually found a cute book....more
