I enjoyed the first book so much better and found myself skimming through some of the narrative as it just didn't hold my interest the same way. Such an amazing story! I found this book to be one of the best books I've ever read. There has been much controversy about it but I believe that as long as the story is good and satisfies the reader so be it. The author clearly states this is pure fiction. You will find yourself so engaged with this book you will spend every free moment reading it. A must read for everyone's list....more

I couldn't wait for this fourth book in the series to be released and read it immediately. Sadly it's my least favorite of the group thus far. It took quite awhile to get into it and just didn't have the drama and excitement the previous books did. The relationships between the characters changed but instead of growing deeper (except for the obvious), they seemed to become more distant. I can only hope the next book is better....more

The title and synopsis of the story was what intrigued me and I wasn't disappointed. The story takes place in 1959 (my year of birth) and four young American debutantes receive an invitation of a lifetime - the first debutante ball of French and American girls. The book provides the details of their lives prior to the event, during the event and a year afterwards. I loved reading about the glitz, glamour and all the goes with Paris in the late 50's. I enjoyed seeing how each of the girls lives played out. The only critique I have is that after the ball the book focuses more on Sam(antha) and Amelia and less on Felicity and Caroline. All and all a very enjoyable summer read. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion....more

I really wanted to love it because I'm such a sci-fi geek (have been since I was a kid watching Star Trek). However, it seemed a bit rushed between the main character and her two co-workers especially for someone who we are told hates people. The AI Alyx too was a bit hard to buy into his "desires" for Christine. Again way too rushed. There are alot of graphic sex scenes so be forewarned....more

It is well written historical fiction and told from Mary's pov - rather than her just being a character in someone else's story. The author writes in Mary's voice very much as we have come to know her throughout other historical facts. Very entertaining and doesn't drag out those events that all Tudor fans know like the back of their hands. Update.... Per the author there will be a sequel to this book. Yay!...more

How she dealsAn impressive and emotional story about a very determined Mom and Doctor who is diagnosed with MS at a very, very early age in her life. How she deals with the diagnosis and her honesty about it is so raw and candid. Her sheer determination in handling her marriage, her children (age 2 and 4 at time of diagnosis) and her profession is nothing short of amazing. Lisa Doggett is not only a doctor but she ran a clinic for people with no health insurance and all the struggles dealing with that scenario. Her candor throughout her story is uplifting and shows you that you should never give in nor give up. A very good read. This is the story of a woman, or should I say a super woman, who spent six decades in the field. The things she accomplished (she even went to law school!) are nothing short of amazing - and at the same time was raising a family. Her accomplishments and her commitment to her field and family are almost unbelievable. She details everything she has done and yet there is no boasting in her words. She is truly a woman ahead of her times. A very inspirational story. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review....more

It's also the story of her great niece, during 2019, who researches her great aunt's history. It is a very interesting historical fiction novel and the dual timelines work wonderfully together. It's saddening to read how our American GI's treated their black brothers in arms as less than. The UK was far above us not only in the way they treated black soldiers but also in their NHS programs. I loved Ade's principals (she is the Princess) and her bravery and she never rested on her royalty status. Ade's story is truly inspiring - even today!
