This story reminded me of what could be a plot for a Star Trek episode if written today. Not necessarily an original idea but certainly an interesting one. The biggest problem this book has is that it took (at least for me) to get to near the 40% mark to really draw me in. Up to that point - it was rather dry and somewhat boring. I have to agree with others that I was let down by the ending. My other book passion is English monarchies and I found that one of the main characters names in this book was Warwick which was the name of a real life King Maker during King Edward IV's time - I won't spoil it but very interesting parallel. ...more

This little novella is jam packed with fun! You will not be able to help yourself from laughing out loud with the ridiculousness (but workable) cliches in this psychological thriller. She is the Mistress of this genre! Definitely one of the best books I have ever read - it is so entertaining. I could go on and on about this story but YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK! PS - what happened to those casseroles in your trunk Alice? LOL...more

This story continues to entertain, which given that it is Book 7 of the series, is not easy to do. The characters keep developing and while the story progresses it doesn't lose it's purpose. I thought the last book was the final but the author isn't done yet as an eighth book is due out next July....more

I understand the author wasn't trying to prove that Anne Harrington was the mother of King Richard III two illegitimate children but rather just putting another possibility out there. I'm fine with that but the problem I have is that I'm not buying into their story at all. A husband who has no problem with his wife not consummating their marriage and producing a legitimate heir, a duke who can't marry her because she's below his station but when he's king he has no problem with it, etc. The moments they share together are so one sided but we are to buy into the notion that he's always been so deeply in love with her. You can keep that bridge in Brooklyn cause I'm not buying....more

For the most part it follows Catherine of Aragon's story correctly (except for the main characters involvement) and I liked hearing Queen Catherine's side of it. However, I found it very hard to connect with the main character Kat. I know she was young - starting at the age of 8 and ending mid teens - but I just found her annoying and wishy washy. Also like others have reviewed, the language was modern for those times and there was repetition such as we didn't need to be reminded every other page that she recognized her father - who is really not her father - as her father. Overall it is fun and fast entertainment but that is all. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion....more

However, this book attempts to write a story of his life (including his time as the pretender) and well past that as a historical fiction novel. I believe the author has done a plausible job in doing so. Rich in history, humor, colorful language and, perhaps, a bit much bawdiness - this is an enjoyable what could it have been like for this young man to experience story. Perhaps a little bit long at 396 pages it was still a relatively quick read. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion....more

This book is thoroughly researched and broken down into logical chapters. However, if you think that this book merely focuses on Ryan and his life with the disease you will be disappointed. This story is much more than that and as it should be. A very educated read. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publishers for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion....more

The book started off really slow and I almost gave up on it. Nothing was happening at all but I figured since I had already invested my time in the first two books I might as well finish it. Around the 37% mark the story took off and rarely held back. The ending was predictable but that is typical for this genre. Due to the slow start I rate it 3.5 stars....more

I am a huge fan of Eleanor of Aquitaine and this author. This story starts with the marriage of Eleanor to Henry and surprisingly as much as I thought I knew about this remarkable woman - I learned alot. The problem was that it got bogged down in heavy text/description and not enough dialogue. I found myself skimming through parts of it because I was getting bored. Hopefully the next book will be better balanced....more
