Empezó muy bien, luego mejoró, en cierto momento empezó a hacérseme largo de narices, varias veces estuve tentado de abandonarlo, después volvió a despegar y ha habido momentos en que me ha dejado sin respiración y me lo he llorado mucho porque los momentos epicoemotivos son muy, muy potentes. ¿Me ha gustado? Bastante. ¿Lo recomiendo? Sí, pero sabiendo que no es en absoluto para todo el mundo. ¿Lo volvería a leer? JAJAJA NO QUÉ DICES. Me gusta más haberlo leído que el hecho en sí de leerlo porque, aunque la verdadera fortaleza del libro está en los diálogos y las situaciones en las que se ven los personajes, la autora se pierde durante demasiaaadas páginas en describirnos los pasillos lóbregos impregnados de huesos y en contarnos cómo funciona la tanatoenergía de las narices. Entiendo que el worldbuilding de scifi y fantasía no se ace solo ai k acerlo, pero VAYA ROLLO.
Eso sí, la mezcla imposible de épica intergaláctica, novelas de Agatha Christie, humor deslenguadamente macarra y lesbianas nigromantes cachondas que van a Masterchef (gracias, César, por esta última metáfora tan acertada) funciona sorprendentemente bien: mis carcajadas se han debido escuchar en Port Moresby (Papúa Nueva Guinea) y he tenido que echar varias veces la ropa en la secadora por lo mucho que he llorado.

Por supuesto, ante tal cantidad ha habido de todo como en botica. A veces da la sensación de que algunes autores piensan que mezclar un poco de todo va a hacer que funcione la cosa, pero ejem. Entiendo perfectamente la razón de ser de esta mezcla que afortunadamente está teniendo tanto éxito, y precisamente por eso me da un poco de penilla que a veces algunos de esos cómics sean un totum revolutum que, por mucha representación que tengan de personajes queer, discas, racializados, neurodivergentes, etc etc, todo se quede en una buena idea (a veces ni eso) y una terrible ejecución. La representación es una herramienta para la historia, no puede ser la historia en sí porque una buena trama necesita de muchas más cosas y quienes pertenecemos a esas comunidades no queremos que nos tokenizen, muchas gracias por venir a mi Ted Talk.
Sirva esta rant para explicar cómo Hollow es todo lo contrario porque aquí todos los elementos encajan a la perfección: en este retelling de la leyenda de Sleepy Hollow la trama es adictiva, los personajes están (muy) bien construidos, me he reído muchísimo y he pegado algunos grititos con esta pandilla tipo Scooby Doo con un villano tan malvado como ridículo. Lo mismo con las ilustraciones (aunque para mi gusto la portada no está a la altura del libro), con ese tono de dibujo animado cozy que le va a la perfección.
