Did I like Helen? Not really. She annoyed the living shit out of me sometimes with her stubbornness and overall lack of common sense sometimes.
Was it a tad insta-love? Yeah
But I utterly loved this book despite all of that. The romance was spicyyyy and tension filled and Grant Shepard will go down as one of my favourite mmc’s of ALL TIME. That is a man written by a woman. The way he never gave up truly cracked my heart by the end of this book.
Tears were also shed at the end of this book (I almost never cry over books) and it hurt my soul a bit.
I also really enjoyed the book to screen portion of this book. It’s always been such a fascinating thing to me as a reader, so getting some BTS was epic - especially since Yulin Huang is a writer and director herself.
What the heck what this book?? I wanted to love it so bad (and figured I would by the amount of good reviews) but I genuinely hated it.

The book is split into two timelines with dual pov between Ama and Elliot. The past timeline tells the story of them meeting and then their hookups. THATS IT. The present timeline is them seeing each other after two years after they are forced to plan a wedding for another couple. But most of the time they just ignore each other.
Ama DESERVED ignoring. I hated her character - everything she said, did, and thought. Because of her refusal to believe that marriages can work, she used him (his body) and never wanted to use labels or be in a relationship. Poor Elliot was just strung along and she DOES NOT deserve him.
Idk this book was just weird and not what I was expecting at all. I felt no chemistry or romance and only like a few (side) characters. Not my cup of tea at all....more

I haven't read a young adult romance that was out of this world, so I'm not surprised that I didn't LOVE this. I originally picked this up because everyone and their mother has been talking about Wes Bennett. I have to agree with BookTok on this one - Wes Bennett is def book bf material. The other characters were okay haha...
You can definitely tell this book was written in the last ~2 years. "Bet" and "I was shook" are not in my vocabulary, but having a younger brother means I hear teenage slang all the time. I appreciate that the author created a more realistic teenage romance novel, but it just wasn't for me ahahha
There was just something about this book that I didn't love. It was missing an oomph. ...more

I should've expected the ending and yet I let myself be hopeful. I took a break from reading Zodiac Academy to read this so my heart could HEAL... And now it's shattered all over again. PSA to all readers who haven't read this duology yet: do not expect a traditional happy ending.
My problem with duologies is that I almost always like the first book better :/ Unfortunately, this was the case here too. Aside from the ending, I found the plotlines in the second book a little more boring and a tad confusing at some points. I went years without ever reading third-person POV and this book is a perfect reason why I still don't love it. I think I would've enjoyed the book much better if it was from first person from Juliette's perspective OR first person from the four main characters. I was just so confused at some points. It's also such a unique plot that I felt lost at some points.
I am also quite disappointed to find out that Chloe Gong's next book Foul Lady Fortune is about Rosalind... Tell me how I already bought this book and didn't realize that. I truly hated her character in these books so I barely paid any attention to her... But I'm keeping my hopes up and maybe she'll redeem herself.
Ughhhh just very mixed feelings about these books now :( I can't even think of what rating to give this book, but I think I'm going to settle on 3/5 stars....more
“We'd been humiliated, belittled, abused and beaten. But not broken, we were made of stronger stuff than that."
The obsession I now have with this se “We'd been humiliated, belittled, abused and beaten. But not broken, we were made of stronger stuff than that."
The obsession I now have with this series is unreal. After finishing the Cruel Prince series, I have been craving a new enemies-to-lovers series and this hit the spot.
Reasons to read this book - ENEMIES TO LOVERS - Bully romance - A darker, fae spin on Hogwarts - Forbidden love - Fae who are also: Shifters, vampires, sirens, werewolves, dragons etc... - A hot, grumpy, vampire professor - “It suits you,” he said. “What does?” I asked. “Smiling.” - "I think the time for sirs and professors is over, don't you?"
The first book's ending shocked me to no end and I was left reeling. One of the best things about these books is that the next one picks up right where we left off. There is no room for interpretation or theories - we get right to the goods. This book was so addicting as we got to see the revenge Tory and Darcy got on the Heirs. I truly could not put this book down. The writing style was so smart - Every time the revenge plot was in place for each heir we would get the POV from one of the girls and then the Heir. SO SMART AND ADDICTING!!
This book also gives us the POVs of the four heirs + Orion (and obviously Tory and Darcy). I'm not usually one for multiple points of view cause I tend to get lost and lose interest in a couple of the characters, but this isn't the case. I really enjoyed each of the POVs *even Max and Seth's who I despise*.
The romance in this book isn't your typical romance and I'm here for it. Darcy and Orion in this book had me on my goddamn knees. I love those two more than any other book couple. The combination of forbidden love, the age gap, and the denial of feelings is pure perfection. AND THE SLOW BURN OHMYGOD. Perfection, once again. Then we have Tory and her love interests. Now let's be honest here: I don't love Caleb and Tory, but they do have chemistry. Darius is my guy, but I'm predicting that he'll get his turn eventually.
This review feels like it's all over the place cause I'm currently reading the third book and the awakening from the boy's POV - So I'm basically trying to remember what is what from each book haha. Anyways no surprise here: 5/5 stars :)...more

This book was everything. It bewitched me, body and soul. I fell in love with the characters and my body is literally yearning for the next book.
ALSO, NO ONE MENTIONED THAT THERE IS A HOT, GRUMPY, VAMPIRE PROFESSOR... If that's not enough to get you to read this book then idk what is...
Tory and Darcy are two 18-year-olds just trying to get by and then their whole world gets turned upside down when they find out they aren't human. They are immediately transported to a mirror world of Earth known as, Solaria. They begin to attend a school called Zodiac where they run into a group of four guys who essentially run the school - even the professors turn a blind eye to their antics. Tory and Darcy begin navigating the brand new world and quickly realize that they are not welcomed with open arms.
Zodiac Academy: The Awakening is a new adult, bully romance, paranormal book and I loved every minute of it. I'm not usually one for bully romances, but this one was written so perfectly that I didn't even seem to mind. The plot is so intriguing with secrets and magic, that the bullying wasn't the main part of the story. On top of that, the bullying was bad, but I have definitely read worse...
If you know me, you know I despise zodiac signs/horoscopes WITH A PASSION. With zodiac literally being in the name of this book I was a bit worried, but I actually loved the zodiac part of the novel. They get horoscopes every couple of days which acted as a premonition for some chapters and it was actually kind of fun to predict what was going to happen.
As I'm writing this review, I'm beginning to see that this book was set up for me NOT to like it. The novel follows Tory and Darcy in a dual POV *which I usually don't love*, but I honestly enjoyed both perspectives. I love both sisters for different reasons, but definitely enjoyed Darcy's love interests more <3
After reading Once Upon a Broken Heart, this book put me back together and then broke me in half again and again. This book pr5 beautiful dark stars.
After reading Once Upon a Broken Heart, this book put me back together and then broke me in half again and again. This book provoked so much emotion in me. One second I was squealing with happiness and the next I was trying not to cry. It's definitely one of my absolute favourite books ever now.
No surprise that I still don't love Evangeline... I'm sorry, but she is just so stupid and naive. She was slightly better in this book, but again, slightly. On the bright side, Jacks makes up for it. I LOVE THAT MAN. He can do no wrong.
Some honourable quotes from our man
"In the morning, you can forget it. You can go back to pretending you don't like me, and I can pretend that I don't care. But for tonight, let me pretend you're mine"
“I do not want you dead, and I’ll kill anyone who tries.”
“Glad to know you're thinking about me when you kiss your husband.”
I am utterly and completely obsessed. But now we're forced to wait almost a year for the third book and I'm close to tears. ...more

I know many readers rave about Archer, but I found him emotionally weak at so many points in this book. It truly made me want to through the book against the wall. I understand his circumstance, yet I still felt pissed off by his actions. The only saving grace was that the book is 80% Bree's POV cause I could not listen to Archer think anymore.
It was also WAY too lovey-dovey for me... I love cheesy romance novels (as you all know), but this one was just a lot for me at specific points. I was also thrown off guard by how quickly they got together in the book. Yes, it was a somewhat slow burn as Archer gradually let Bree in, but I still think it happened so quickly.
Overall, I think this book was just not for me!! 3 stars :)...more
I was initially skeptical due to the overwhelming 1-star reviews, but trust me when I say this book is now one of my absolutLoved this book so much <3
I was initially skeptical due to the overwhelming 1-star reviews, but trust me when I say this book is now one of my absolute favourites. I have been on a fantasy break for a while now, but Alex Aster just made me fall back in love with it. Many people have compared this book to A Court of Thorns and Roses + The Hunger Games, and honestly, I am here for it.
I loved Isla's character, as well as pretty much all the other rulers. I feel like they were each written so uniquely and I was so intrigued about each of them. The plot was very interesting and I LOVE the idea of it, but it kind of took a turn halfway through... The book summary describes a 'deadly game' for the 6 rulers, but it didn't really feel like it after a while. Granted, I love where the story went but was definitely not expecting it. I feel like we didn't hear enough about each of the ruler's curses and by the end, they were just kind of abandoned haha!!
Then we have the romance... Let me tell you right now, that I was not expecting a love triangle. I didn't hate it, but I was definitely not loving it especially since there was no clear "winner". The romance and each connection were written so beautifully, it literally had my heart aching. But I wish there was only one love interest, not two. And as readers, most of us have a clear opinion on who we want the main character to end up with. Unfortunately, she did NOT go with my pick and I'll be broken up about that for a while :((
And that ending woah... I definitely love a good plot twist and we sure got it.
Honestly, this book is for anyone who loves fantasy romance books between young adult and new adult!! *It is labelled as young adult, but I feel like it's slightly above it*
Overall this book was truly amazing and one of the best books I've read this year!! I NEED book two though, asap

Kate and Anthony were definitely true enemies during the first quarter of the book which I love to see in an enemies and lovers novel. BUT then I got about halfway through the book and it lost me for one singular reason: (view spoiler)[ It was the SAME as the first book. If I had not known what happened in the first novel, I might not have been so disappointed, but nevertheless, I did know. (hide spoiler)] The rest of the book fell short for me.
I originally picked this book up yesterday because I just finished the second season and oh my gosh - the show is perfection and I freaking adored it. But I can say quite honestly that the show was much better than the book. They roughly followed the first half of the book and then created their own storyline within the show (which is so much better in my opinion).
Overall, it was a good story and I liked it - but did not love it. 4 stars (maybe 3.5 idk yet)...more
