He’d probably say, in his estimation, that this girl was being irrational. I could assume this because I’d been her a few years ago, and that was his favorite line to use on me. I was too emotional. What he meant was I had emotions that made him uncomfortable. Anger. Frustration. Rage.
It's been awhile since a book grabbed me from the first page and launched me out of a reading slump.
This is an excellent popcorn thriller! I read the entire book in less than 4 days after a month-and-a-half long reading slump.
Though I will say, I was expecting the death of a character to be (view spoiler)[Murder One with shocking violence and aggression, (hide spoiler)] but instead I got (view spoiler)[passive murder-by-negligence (hide spoiler)]. There was a lot I guessed early on, but I think when a book can keep you reading regardless of if you know what's coming, that's the mark of a good read.
Another story to add to my repertoire of Isolated, Closed-Circle Thrillers!...more

There are many issues with the instructions given throughout this book, one of the reocurring bits of awful advice is "functional book stacks". Books are not meant to be stored in a stack under the weight pressure of other books, and they're most assuredly not meant to be used as a table. The adhesive used in spines holds the pages and cover together, not 20+lbs of other books and whatever the hell you're putting on top of it like it's a table.
Again, if the person receiving this advice hates books, then sure, this book is helpful. But if you are an actual reader, book collector, even bookish person, the advice in Book Nooks is painful at best, and destructive at worst.
The only stars go to the photographer for putting up with this shite. ...more

I know that's harsh, but I'm eternally grossed out by the constant "look at me making a joke about the thing I'm copying, while trying my best to be different than it" nonsense.
So much of this book was nothing. Absolutely nothing. To the point that an audiobook on 2x speed couldn't sustain my interest. That's it. Moving on. Time to rewatch Jurassic Park because it is perfection and this book is its exact opposite. ...more
